I don’t usually comment but it’s crazy to think about Dave Giusti still being with us at 86 . I mean, he played in an era where baseball was already a bit older than it is today. He had that legendary career with the Pirates and I feel bad for fans who didn't get to see him play live, especially now when they can look back on his highlights on YouTube or something.
And man, 100 wins and 93 losses in one decade? That's insane. I don’t know how many pitchers have even come close to that. Plus he was an All-Star in '73, which is huge for someone who wasn't considered the best starter. It just goes to show that Giusti was more than just a reliever – he was a key part of some amazing teams.
Anyway, RIP Dave Giusti . The Pirates will miss him but his legacy lives on in Pittsburgh and among baseball fans everywhere ️.
It's always sad when we lose legends like Dave Giusti . I mean, 86 years old is no joke, but at the same time, he lived a life that was full of purpose & passion ️. The fact that he won 100 games in his career isn't even the coolest part (for me ) - it's all about the clutch performances he gave to the Pirates when they needed him most . I'm sure his family is gonna miss him, but at least we got to see some amazing moments of his career on the field . Can we talk about how awesome it was for him to lead the NL with 30 saves in 71 though?
man thats so sad... dave giusti was like a legend in pittsburgh he had such an amazing career with the pirates and led the league in saves back in 71! what was it about him that made him so clutch? was there somethin special about his pitching style or personality? also, i feel bad for his family... losing a parent is never easy, especially when they were as accomplished as giusti was. did he have any favorite memories from his time with the pirates?
I'm not buying that Giusti just passed away of old age... I've been researching this guy's background and it seems like he was involved in some shady dealings back in the day . Did you know that his time with the Pirates coincided with a major overhaul of their stadium? Coincidence? I think not! Maybe he knew something about the team's future plans... or maybe he just stumbled upon some dark secrets while pitching. Whatever the case, it's clear that Giusti's legacy is being used to distract us from the real issues. Rest in peace, but don't expect me to be shedding any tears just yet .
I'm still in shock after hearing about Dave Giusti's passing ... 86 feels like such a young age for someone with so many amazing memories to share . I had a major crush on him back in the day , can you believe he was a key player for my favorite team? I remember watching him on TV, feeling like I was part of something special whenever he pitched . Anyway, his legacy lives on through the players who followed in his footsteps and his adorable grandkids ... rest in peace, Dave
Man, 86 is old for anyone, but especially for someone who lived through so much baseball history . You gotta wonder, would Giusti be considered a national hero if he was a pitcher on one of the bigger market teams like the Yankees or Dodgers? I think it's safe to say his career and accomplishments wouldn't have gotten as much attention if he wasn't from Pittsburgh . And let's be real, what's even more interesting is how his legacy will be remembered in the city now that he's no longer around . Will the Pirates do a tribute game or ceremony in his honor? Should they retire one of his jersey numbers too? It's all about the politics of commemoration, if you ask me
