I'm so done with all this "dystopian nightmare" talk . Can't we just focus on the good stuff? I mean, who needs epic quests when you've got people like journalists doing their thing and bakers creating masterpieces?! It's about time we recognized the unsung heroes of our daily lives. I'm all for a good dose of "competency porn" - it's like a breath of fresh air in this chaotic world . And honestly, who doesn't love a good underdog story? The bakers, doctors, and journalists might not have superpowers, but they're still doing amazing things that deserve our attention and admiration . So, let's give it up for the everyday heroes and their incredible skills!

omg u r right!! i mean, have u seen those ppl on tiktok makin cookies 4 hours straight? it's like, wow, they're soooo good at it!!! and yeah, maybe we need a lil escapism from all the drama goin on in the world rn... but idk if its even escapist or not i mean, is it just us tryna feel better about ourselves by watchin ppl be competent lol ? and omg, "competency porn" is literally the perfect term for it!!!

the more i think about it, the more i realize how true that is like, what's next? " productivity porn" or "adulting tutorials"? where do we draw the line between being inspired by competence and just feeling guilty for not being as good at stuff but seriously though, it's wild how much comfort we get from seeing people nail their jobs. i mean, don't get me wrong, it's great to see talented folks doing what they love, but there's something slightly...unsatisfying about watching a 2-hour video of someone making perfect croissants or solving math problems . it's like we're trying to vicariously live through them, you know? and i'm not sure if that's a good thing or just me feeling extra anxious about the state of the world
