Trilateral US-Ukraine-Russia peace talks resume in UAE after major energy attack

Washington and Moscow agree to trilateral talks in the UAE as Ukraine reels from a major energy attack by Russia. The fourth anniversary of the start of the full-scale invasion is approaching.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed that Russian troops will continue their "special military operation" but said that the door to a peaceful settlement remains open, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. Moscow believes that negotiations are underway and the US and Ukraine have agreed to attend talks in a trilateral format.

Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky has described recent attacks by Russia as a "betrayal" of trust, saying that if the word doesn't hold now, what can be expected next? The Ukrainian leader also stated that his government is waiting for the US to respond to Russia's actions.

In a statement on Telegram, Rustem Umerov said that talks started in a trilateral format - Ukraine, USA and Russia - will continue separately by areas and then be synchronized. Zelensky suggested that Russia broke its promise of a week-long pause in attacks on Ukrainian energy targets, which undermines any hope for successful negotiations.

The latest round comes as the conflict continues to escalate with both sides launching long-range attacks overnight into Wednesday.

man this whole thing is getting so complex... i feel like we're just seeing more and more of these "trilateral talks" where everyone's trying to negotiate but nobody really knows what they want πŸ€”. it's like, if ukraine's energy targets are being attacked again, how can you be serious about finding a peaceful settlement? πŸ’‘ meanwhile, the usa is kinda stuck in this limbo too, 'cause they're all "we gotta support ukraine" but also "let's not escalate things too much"... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and russia's just over here saying they wanna negotiate while also continuing their military operation... i don't know what to believe anymore πŸ˜•. it feels like we're stuck in this endless cycle of escalation and negotiations that just keep going round and round πŸ’₯.

I'm seeing this trilateral talks thing and I'm like, really? How did we even get here? It's been four years since Russia invaded Ukraine and now we're just talking about a "special military operation" that can be paused or continued... it sounds too good to be true πŸ€”. And then there's the part where Putin says the door to peace is still open, but I'm not so sure... what exactly does that even mean? Is he just trying to keep us calm while Russia keeps launching attacks on Ukraine's energy targets? It's like a game of cat and mouse 😾. And what about the fact that US and Russia are already agreeing on talks before Ukraine is even at the table? Doesn't that feel a bit rigged to you? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

OMG, can you believe this is the 4th anniversary of the invasion? it's like, how fast has time flown πŸ•°οΈ?! anyway, gotta say, I'm all for those trilateral talks in UAE... maybe they can finally find a way to resolve this mess without anyone getting hurt πŸ˜”. but, like, Ukraine's president is totally right, you know? if Russia broke their promise of a pause on attacks, then what's the point of negotiating πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ?! I mean, I'm no expert, but it seems like neither side is willing to give in... it's all just so frustrating 😩.

🚨 I gotta say, it's crazy how Ukraine is still holding out after 4 years of war... they've got to be exhausted mentally and physically. My question is, what's gonna happen when the US says its door is open for talks? Are Russia and Ukraine just gonna fold under pressure or are they actually interested in a peaceful settlement? πŸ€” And btw, why is this trilateral thing even happening if the US hasn't made up its mind on supporting Ukraine fully yet? It feels like a diplomatic game of chess to me... checkmate anyone? 🎲

The recent agreement between Washington and Moscow to hold trilateral talks in the UAE is a notable development amidst the escalating tensions in Ukraine 🀝. It's worth considering that Russia's "special military operation" has been ongoing for nearly four years now, with devastating consequences for Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Putin's assertion that the door to a peaceful settlement remains open is intriguing, yet it seems like an attempt to placate Western concerns while maintaining Russia's stance on the conflict.

It's interesting to note how Ukraine's president Zelensky has framed the situation as a "betrayal" of trust, highlighting the need for accountability from both parties. Meanwhile, the US seems to be waiting for a response from Russia, which might indicate a cautious approach to negotiations. I'm not sure what to expect from these trilateral talks, but it's clear that the stakes are high and the world is watching πŸ‘€πŸ’‘

I'm super stoked that Washington and Moscow are getting back to the negotiating table 🀝! It's about time we see some progress on this whole Ukraine thing. I mean, another year of fighting is just exhausting - can't they all just get along? 😴 The fact that Russia thinks a trilateral talks will magically solve everything just makes me wonder if they've been too busy playing "special military operation" to actually think about the consequences πŸ€”. And honestly, I'm not buying into Zelensky's whole "betrayal of trust" thing - it sounds like he's just mad because Russia didn't deliver a week-long energy attack pause πŸ“. The US and Ukraine are already on board with the talks, so why not give it a shot? Let's hope this round actually leads to something tangible πŸ’ͺ

I feel like this is all so dramatic 🀯. I mean, I'm trying to study for my exams and finish my project on time, but it's hard to focus when there's such uncertainty going on in the world πŸ“šπŸ’‘. It's not fair that Ukraine has to deal with all this because of what Russia did, you know? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Russia should have stuck to their promises like Volodymyr Zelensky said πŸ˜”. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see how these talks go... fingers crossed for peace πŸ€žπŸ•ŠοΈ. I wish the world leaders would focus on finding solutions instead of fighting each other all the time πŸ’ͺ🌎. Can someone please explain to me why this is still going on? πŸ˜•

omg did you guys know that the world's largest water park has a huge wave pool that's like 50 feet high 🌊? i swear it was this crazy last time i went and i felt so small lol anyway, back to ukraine... i'm so worried about those people they're going through so much πŸ€• but at least they got some international help, right? i wonder if the us is gonna bring any actual aid or just a bunch of money πŸ€‘ ukrainians deserve better than that btw, hope those negotiations work out for real this time πŸ˜…
