Ugh, can you believe what's happening here?
I mean, I know we've been warned about climate change and stuff, but it's still shocking to see people dying on the streets like this. Five deaths, all due to hypothermia... it's heartbreaking, man. And to think, these folks had stable housing, but they still couldn't survive the cold. It's like, what's going on here?
And don't even get me started on the city's response
. I mean, coordination issues? That's just ridiculous. They need to step up their game and provide more warming centers and outreach services ASAP. And what's with the NYPD pushing people out of subway stations? Like, come on, that's not how you help people in need.
And have you seen all those complaints about heating issues?
80,000 complaints in January alone... that's just nuts. I mean, I know it's cold and all, but this is just basic human rights stuff right here. Everyone deserves a warm place to go when the temperature drops.
I'm so glad they're making changes now, though
. Police won't be forcing people out of subway stations unless they pose a danger... that's a big step in the right direction. And let's hope these warming centers and outreach services can make a difference. We need to do better, guys
