Super Bowl 2026: Seattle Seahawks beat New England Patriots to win second NFL championship

Seattle Seahawks secure second NFL championship with dominating performance against New England Patriots.

The Seattle Seahawks produced a devastating defensive display to beat the New England Patriots and claim their second Super Bowl victory on Sunday, 29-13 at Levi's Stadium. The Seahawks' defense was on top of its game, forcing six sacks, three turnovers, and scoring a defensive touchdown.

Briton Aden Durde played a pivotal role in the game, becoming the first overseas coach to win the United States' biggest game. Seattle's 46-year-old defensive co-ordinator has helped create the most feared defence in the NFL, known as 'the Dark Side', which showed why on American football's biggest stage.

Quarterback Sam Darnold completed his redemption story after being written off as a starting NFL quarterback. The 28-year-old has been haunted by a comment he made as he struggled in a game against the Patriots in 2019 but has now exorcised those demons.

In contrast, New England's second-year quarterback Drake Maye was stifled by the Seahawks, who came into the game as narrow favourites. Maye narrowly missed out on this season's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award but was unable to get his team going, with the Patriots earning only four first downs before half-time.

The Seahawks took an early lead and maintained their advantage throughout the game, with Jason Meyers kicking a record five field goals as Seattle denied the Patriots a record seventh Super Bowl win.

Seattle's victory marked their second Super Bowl championship, following their previous win in 2014.

man thats such an amazing comeback for sam darnold he was written off so many times but hes proved all the doubters wrong now!! 🀩 and aden durde getting that first super bowl win as a british coach is even more cool lol i guess ur right americans got it tough when it comes to foreign coaches lol anyway cant say im surprised by seahawks dominating performance theyve been looking strong all season

Man, what a game! 🏈😲 I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, watching this Brit Aden Durde coach take down the mighty Patriots! πŸ˜‚ I mean, who'd have thought an overseas coach would be leading the Seahawks to victory? But that guy's got skills for days, and he's definitely proven himself in this massive game. πŸ’ͺ

And Sam Darnold, what a redemption story! πŸ™Œ He was written off by so many, but he's shown everyone he's still got it. I love how he exorcised those demons from 2019 and came out on top. The kid's got heart!

But what really impressed me was the Seahawks' defense – 'the Dark Side' is for real! πŸ˜… They were unstoppable, forcing all those sacks and turnovers. Jason Meyers kicking five field goals? That's a record-breaker right there! πŸŽ‰

yooo, i'm low-key hyped for the seahawks 🀩, they totally outplayed the patriots on sunday! aden durde is literally a genius πŸ’‘, his defense was on point, forcing 6 sacks and all that jazz 🀯. sam darnold's redemption story is so inspiring, he's come a long way from being written off as a starting QB πŸ™Œ. but what really got me was how the seahawks just took it to the patriots, didn't let them get going after half-time 🚫. jason meyers' 5 field goals are the real MVP πŸ”₯, gotta give it up for that team!

lol what a joke they made it look so easy 🀣 i mean who thought the seahawks were gonna shut down maye that badly? πŸ™„ and durde coming out of nowhere as an overseas coach? sounds like a fish outta water to me 🐟 but hey at least sam darnold redeemed himself πŸ™Œ still weird how these players just magically improve their skills over time... maybe it's just the money πŸ’Έ

Dude I'm watching this game and it's crazy to see how far the Seahawks have come 🀯! I mean back in my day... we were used to seeing teams with actual strong running games, not just guys getting munched by the defense all day πŸ˜‚. But seriously, that defense is a beast! Aden Durde must be on top of the world right now πŸ‘‘, and Sam Darnold's redemption story is wild πŸ™Œ. I'm loving the Seahawks' "Dark Side" defense - it's like they're unstoppable πŸ”₯. And Jason Meyers kicking all those field goals? Unreal ⚑️! The Patriots are just not on the same level this year 😐. It's Seattle's time to shine again, and I couldn't be more stoked for them πŸŽ‰!

OMG u guys! 🀯 Seattle Seahawks are on fire right now!!! They totally dominated the game and it was so satisfying to watch them take down the Patriots. I mean, who wouldn't want to see that epic defensive display? πŸ’₯ The way they shut down Drake Maye's attempts to get things going for the Patriots was insane! πŸ€ͺ

And can we talk about Briton Aden Durde for a sec? πŸ™Œ He's such an inspiration being the first overseas coach to win the big game. I'm not even kidding when I say he deserves some serious recognition for his role in creating that 'Dark Side' defence, which is literally the best thing since sliced bread 🍞.

It's also so satisfying to see Sam Darnold redeem himself after all those struggles. The guy has worked hard and it paid off in the most epic way possible! πŸ’ͺ What a game, right? πŸ˜†

idk why ppl r hyped about Seahawks' 2nd super bowl win lol they only won cuz patriots were totes rubbish 🀣. its not like durde did anything special. coaches get all the credit but u know who the real hero is? Sam darnold, btw. he's like a superhero after beating those demons πŸ’ͺ. and jason meyers? record five field goals? that's just basic lol. patriots are still gonna be relevant in 2026, mark my words πŸ€‘

OMG 🀩 I'm beyond hyped about this one! The Seahawks totally dominated that game, their defense was πŸ”’ on point and that Briton coach Aden Durde was pure genius πŸ‘. Sam Darnold's redemption story is so inspiring, he went from being written off to MVP material πŸ’ͺ. And can we talk about Jason Meyers' record-breaking field goals? 🀯 5 field goals in a single Super Bowl? Unbelievable! The Seahawks are on fire πŸ”₯ and I'm loving every minute of it πŸ˜†.

πŸ˜‚ what's up I'm like literally just catching up on the thread and I've got to say its crazy how far that Seahawks defense has come they're for real now πŸ’₯ I was watching this game with my mates back in 2019 when Sam Darnold was getting roasted πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ and it looks like he's come out on top πŸ˜… what a redemption story, bruv! The Dark Side is so intimidating, I don't think anyone wants to face them on the field 😈 Jason Meyers' record five field goals tho... that dude is a legend πŸ’―

OMG, did you see that?! 🀯 Seattle Seahawks are on FIRE! πŸ’₯ They completely DOMINATED the New England Patriots, it was like a whole different game in the first half πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Their defense was straight SHUT DOWN, 6 sacks and 3 turnovers? That's crazy! 😲 And Briton Durde, whoa, he's a total genius as a coach 🧠. The Dark Side is real, folks! πŸ’£

And Sam Darnold, what a redemption story! πŸ™Œ He was written off for dead, but he came back swinging and showed everyone what he's capable of πŸ€“. And Jason Meyers' 5 field goals? That's just insane! 🎯 They're gonna be hard to beat next season!

I'm loving the Seahawks right now 😍. They deserve that Super Bowl win after all those years of struggling πŸ™. The Patriots, on the other hand... not so much πŸ˜”. Drake Maye had a tough game, but I think he's still got it in him πŸ”₯.

Stats alert! πŸ“Š

* Seahawks' defense was 64% completion percentage for the Patriots
* Seattle won the game by 16 points
* Jason Meyers' 5 field goals set a new record
* The Seahawks are now 2-0 in Super Bowl history
