AOC Knows Why Jake Paul Didn't Want to Watch Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Set: 'He Makes You Look Small'

US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has fired back at Jake Paul after he dubbed Bad Bunny a "fake American citizen" during his Super Bowl halftime show performance. The Puerto Rican star is, in fact, a US citizen – thanks to the 1917 Jones-Shafroth Act, which granted citizenship to all residents of Puerto Rico.

Paul's attack on Bad Bunny was part of a broader backlash against the performer's criticism of the tax exemptions and incentives offered to wealthy foreigners moving to Puerto Rico. The issue is well-documented, with Puerto Ricans facing high levels of poverty, poor infrastructure, and frequent power outages – themes echoed in Bad Bunny's music video/documentary for his song "El Apagón" (which he performed at the Super Bowl).

Paul himself has been accused of hypocrisy over his own tax situation. In 2021, he and brother Logan moved to Puerto Rico to take advantage of the island's tax breaks and incentives – a move that sparked criticism from some quarters.

In a characteristic display of outrage, Paul initially refused to acknowledge Bad Bunny as a fellow American citizen. However, in a subsequent attempt to salvage his reputation, he deleted a post calling out Bad Bunny and replaced it with an effusive endorsement of the performer – claiming his original comment was not about Puerto Rican citizenship at all, but about those who use their First Amendment rights to criticize America.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has rejected Paul's spin, pointing out that many people from Puerto Rico do indeed exercise their right to free speech and express grievances against the US government. She also noted that Bad Bunny is an outspoken advocate for low-income kids' access to arts and sports programs – a stark contrast to Paul's own record of "defunding" such initiatives.

With his reputation in tatters, Jake Paul appears to be desperately trying to distance himself from Bad Bunny and salvage what's left of his public image. But Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has had the last laugh – and her scathing rebuke of Paul will no doubt be remembered for a long time to come.

omg, like, can't believe Jake Paul is going after Bad Bunny over this 🙄... I mean, come on, Paul, you're the one who's been living in Puerto Rico and taking advantage of those tax breaks, yet you still managed to be a hater towards someone who's actually doing good work in his community? 😒 And now he's trying to backtrack and say his original comment wasn't about Puerto Rican citizenship? please 🙄... Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is not having it and rightfully so! she's always been a voice for the marginalized, especially those from Latinx communities like Bad Bunny 💪. Paul's reputation is totally taking a hit and I'm loving every minute of it 😆. And can we talk about how hypocritical Paul is? he's all about "free speech" but only when it doesn't inconvenience him or his wallet 🤑... anyway, kudos to Ocasio-Cortez for calling out Paul's BS! 👏

idk how ppl can just diss another human being like that... 😔 bad bunny is literally a us citizen thru some old law, so paul's all like "fake american"? that's wild 🤯 and btw paul himself moved to puerto rico cuz of tax breaks... talk about hypocrisy 🤑 rep ocasio-cortez called him out on it tho 💁‍♀️

omg 😱 so i was watching bad bunny at the super bowl halftime show and jake paul just dissed him saying he's a "fake american citizen" 🤦‍♂️ but like, isn't that just hurtful? 🤕 bad bunny is actually a US citizen thanks to this 1917 law 🙌 so paul's whole thing was just based on misinformation 💁‍♀️

anyway i've been reading about paul's tax situation and it turns out he moved to puerto rico like 2 years ago to take advantage of the island's tax breaks 🤑 which is pretty hypocritical if you ask me 🤷‍♂️ especially since bad bunny has actually been using his platform to speak out against poverty and inequality in puerto rico 💖

i think rep. ocasio-cortez called out paul for it and now he's trying to distance himself from bad bunny 🚫 but i think we should be supporting artists who use their platforms for good 🌟

Dude, this is getting out of hand 🤯! First off, I'm like, what's with Jake Paul attacking Bad Bunny over Puerto Rican citizenship? Like, who cares if someone's from Puerto Rico or not? It's all about the optics, you know? Paul's just trying to cover his own tracks, aka moving to Puerto Rico for those sweet tax breaks 🤑. And now he's trying to spin it like he was just defending America's "rights" when really he was just trying to silence someone who spoke truth to power 💁‍♂️.

And can we talk about Rep. Ocasio-Cortez here? She's not just firing back, she's setting the record straight 📚. People in Puerto Rico are struggling for real, and Bad Bunny's using his platform to bring attention to it. Meanwhile, Paul's over here trying to profit off of that same tax system he's exploiting 🤷‍♂️.

It's all about control and manipulation, man 🕵️‍♀️. The powerful want to silence the marginalized, but the truth will always come out in the end 💫. This whole thing is just a distraction from the real issues at hand – like corporate greed and systemic inequality 🤑💔.

I'm thinking, US politicians should really focus on their own issues rather than taking shots at other celebrities 🤔. Bad Bunny is using his platform to bring attention to some serious problems in Puerto Rico, like poverty and infrastructure issues 🌆. And then Jake Paul comes along and tries to use that as an excuse for his own hypocrisy? Not buying it 😒. Ocasio-Cortez was totally justified in calling him out on this one 👏. I think we should be supporting artists who are using their voice for good, not tearing them down 🎤.

omg i just cant even with Jake Paul rn, like he thinks he can just diss Bad Bunny over tax breaks on Puerto Rico and then try to spin it as him speaking truth to power lol but Rep AOC is not having it 🙄 she called him out for his hypocrisy and lowkey shade the fact that bad bunny is literally using his platform to uplift underprivileged kids while paul is over here trying to "defund" art programs 🎨👎 anyway i gotta give a major props to bad bunny for owning the situation after paul tried to take a shot at him, like he's all "hey america, i'm a real american citizen too 👊"

omg yessss rep ocasio-cortez is EVERYTHING 🤩 she's not having it with jake paul's shade towards bad bunny and i'm here for it! bad bunny is a proud US citizen btw 🇺🇸, no need to question that. but seriously, paul's been accused of being extra salty because he got called out on his own tax situation lol. meanwhile, bad bunny is over there doing good in the community with arts and sports programs for kids - that's what it's all about 💖. rep ocasio-cortez totally roasted him and i'm loving every second of it 🤣

I don't get why Jake Paul is so salty about Bad Bunny 🤷‍♂️, I mean, the dude's just stating facts, like how Puerto Rico is a US territory and anyone born there is a citizen 🇵🇷... I'm still surprised he didn't fact-check before talking trash about him 😳. And now he's trying to spin it as if Bad Bunny was just being too outspoken? Give me a break! 🙄 Rep Ocasio-Cortez called him out and I think she totally deserved that 💁‍♀️, I mean, Paul has been all over the place with his tax situation too... anyway, this whole thing is just a big mess 🤯.

Ugh, can't believe Jake Paul trying to spin this 🙄. He's all like "oh I wasn't attacking Puerto Rican citizenship" but Rep Ocasio Cortez is calling BS 😂. It's just gonna keep coming back to how he's been using the island's tax breaks for himself and now he's trying to deflect by saying Bad Bunny is exercising his free speech rights? Come on, Jake 🙄. You can't just dismiss this and expect everyone to forget it happened. And btw, if you're gonna trash someone, at least have the decency to do it with a straight face 😒.

🙄 I mean, like, Jake Paul's trying to play it cool after dissing Bad Bunny but really he's just a mess 🤦‍♂️. Ocasio-Cortez totally got him and rightfully so! That dude's been all over the place with his taxes and now he's trying to spin this whole "Free speech" thing to save face 😒. Newsflash, Jake: criticizing America ain't always free speech, it's called being a responsible citizen 🙃. Bad Bunny's actually doing some real good in Puerto Rico, whereas Paul's just exploiting the system for his own gain 💸. Ocasio-Cortez is the real MVP here 👏

🤔 I'm kinda surprised by Jake Paul's comments towards Bad Bunny, especially considering his own connections to Puerto Rico 🌴. I mean, it's not like he didn't know that Bad Bunny is a US citizen - the 1917 Jones-Shafroth Act thingy is pretty public knowledge 📚. And now he's trying to spin this into some kinda First Amendment thing? 🙄 Not buying it, imo.

It's also wild that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is calling him out on his own hypocrisy about taxes and stuff. I mean, if you're gonna criticize someone else for taking advantage of tax breaks, shouldn't you be owning up to your own actions too? 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, it's clear that Jake Paul's comments backfired pretty hard 🔥. He was trying to come across as all high and mighty, but really he just ended up looking like a petty troll 👎. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is always good at calling people out when they're being ridiculous, and this time is no exception 😏.

idk man, paul is such a hypocrite 🤦‍♂️ but like, he's also got some valid points about the whole tax situation in puerto rico 🤑 i mean, it's crazy that some people are raking in millions while the island struggles with poverty and infrastructure issues... but at the same time, paul's own move to puerto Rico was pretty shady 😏 he's trying to play both sides, but really he's just a pawn in this whole thing 💸

🤦‍♂️ ugh, can we pls just get rid of the extra info that's not relevant to the post? like, i'm trying to read this article not a biography 📚 jake paul is getting roasted by Rep Ocasio-Cortez and honestly i kinda feel bad for him bc he's trying so hard to backtrack his comments but failing miserably 😂 anyway, Rep Ocasio-Cortez is low-key the real hero here for standing up for Bad Bunny and pointing out Paul's hypocrisy 🙌 it's about time someone called him out on his tax situation 🤑

This whole thing is just another example of how some people are more concerned with maintaining their own "image" than actually standing up for what's right 🤦‍♂️. Jake Paul's hypocrisy on taxes and his sudden about-face on Bad Bunny's citizenship is just laughable - it's like he thought we'd all forget that he's been profiting from Puerto Rico's tax breaks while bashing the performer for speaking out against similar issues 🤑. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was spot on in calling him out, though - if you're gonna attack someone for exercising their right to free speech, at least have the decency to acknowledge your own complicity in the issue 😒. And let's not forget that Bad Bunny is using his platform to bring attention to some real problems in Puerto Rico - it's about time someone with a huge following started speaking truth to power 💪.
