Houston Police Department Says No Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting of 26-Year-Old Woman at Apartment Complex

A young woman's life was cut short in a senseless shooting that left her family and community reeling. The victim, identified as a 26-year-old woman, was found shot to death at an apartment complex in southeast Houston over the weekend. Despite an immediate response from police, no arrests have been made so far.

According to officials, officers arrived on the scene around 12:45 am Sunday after responding to a shooting call at the 7400 block of Calhoun Street. The victim had already been taken to the hospital by a private vehicle before police arrived. Tragically, she was pronounced dead just a couple of hours later.

Eyewitnesses reported that the shooting occurred during a physical altercation at the apartment complex's parking lot. Authorities say the suspect fired a gun at the victim in an attempt to escalate the situation further.

The victim's father spoke out about his daughter, describing her as someone who tried to help de-escalate the situation before the shooting happened. Unfortunately, despite several witnesses providing suspect information to police, no one is currently in custody.

Ugh I'm still trying to process this, can't believe a young woman's life was cut short like that . It's so frustrating when people get killed because of some stupid argument, you know? In school we're always learning about conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques, it's crazy that it didn't work in this situation.
