O.J. Simpson's estate agrees to pay Ron Goldman's father nearly $58 million

O.J. Simpson's estate is set to settle a long-standing debt of nearly $58 million with the father of Ron Goldman, the victim of the infamous 1994 murder case that Simpson was acquitted of.

In a civil wrongful death lawsuit filed in 1997, O.J. Simpson was found liable for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, and ordered to pay their families $33.5 million. However, due to illness, Simpson had not paid the majority of this judgment before his passing last April at the age of 76.

Now, Fred Goldman, Ron's father, has filed a claim against Simpson's estate for an additional $117 million, which includes the outstanding balance and interest on the original judgment. After reviewing the claim, the executor of Simpson's estate, Malcolm LaVergne, has agreed to pay Goldman a total of nearly $58 million plus interest.

However, LaVergne notes that this amount appears to be inaccurate due to "simple judgment interest calculations" and promises to work with Goldman to re-estimate the accurate value. The settlement is expected to be finalized in January, pending further court proceedings.

Wow! 🀯 This guy's estate just paid out nearly 60 million dollars to Ron Goldman's dad... that's insane! Interesting how O.J. Simpson was found liable for his ex-wife and friend's deaths back in '97. I wonder what really went down, but it seems the truth isn't as important as paying up at this point πŸ€‘. The fact that they're still arguing about interest rates though is kinda weird...

πŸ€‘ This whole thing just smells like a money grab. I mean, come on $117 million? That's outrageous! 🀯 And now they're saying it might be way less than that due to "simple judgment interest calculations"... lol yeah right, not exactly the most transparent process, if you ask me 😏. I'm all for O.J. Simpson paying his debts but this is just ridiculous. The guy was acquitted of murder and now his estate gets to just settle and walk away with a pretty penny? πŸ€‘ It's just not fair to the other families affected by his actions πŸ‘Ž

omg like i cant even believe oj simpson's estate finally settling on paying out that massive debt lol its been ages since he was acquitted and now his family has been waiting for justice πŸ€‘πŸ‘€ i remember watching the trial back in '94 and thinking it was a total shocker how it all went down anyway glad fred goldman gets some closure but i also feel bad for malcolm lavergne having to deal with this kinda financial drama at his age lol January can't come soon enough

I'm shocked they're settling for nearly $58 million, I mean, it's like a slap on the wrist! Fred Goldman deserves so much more considering how traumatic this whole ordeal has been for him and his family all these years πŸ€”. What's next? Are we gonna offer a participation trophy to the victims' families too?! πŸ˜’ The judge back in 1997 was way off imo, $117 million is the bare minimum for justice, but I guess that's just how the system works... or doesn't work, lol.

πŸ˜‚ OJ Simpson's estate just got served with a massive bill from Ron Goldman's dad! I mean, who knew the estate had so much cash lying around? πŸ€‘ They must've been hiding it under their white Bronco πŸš—. But seriously, $58 million is still a lot of dough. Guess you could say OJ's legacy is finally coming back to haunt him...in a good way, right? πŸ˜…

Umm so like... O.J. Simpson was found guilty or something in 1994, but he only did some community service and stuff instead of doing prison time? And now his estate is settling a debt that's like, totally not what anyone expected right? I mean, $58 million is a lot of money! πŸ€‘ What's crazy is that it's been so long since O.J. Simpson died in April last year... does the law just kinda forget about old debts after that or something? Also, what happened to the TV show "O.J.: Made in America" after the documentary came out in 2016? I loved watching it and thought it was really interesting...

I'm still trying to figure out how Simpson's estate can pay 58 million now, like what's going on? He passed away last April and his ex-wife owed them 33.5 million... I mean, I get it, he was found liable for the murders, but $117 million is crazy 🀯. Does this mean Fred Goldman gets to live off that money forever or is there a catch? I'm just confused about how they're calculating the interest and stuff...

Ugh, $58 million for Ron Goldman's dad? I mean, I get it, O.J. Simpson owes a lot of money... πŸ€‘ But can't they just negotiate or something? All these years and now Fred Goldman is just getting paid the original judgment plus some extra interest? That's still over 20 years after Simpson passed away! It's like they're dragging this out for drama. And what's with Malcolm LaVergne saying the amount is "inaccurate" due to simple calculations? That's not exactly reassuring... πŸ˜’ Can't we just have a straightforward settlement without all these complications?

I feel kinda bad for Fred Goldman's family... $58 million is still a lot of cash 😐. I mean, OJ Simpson did get off scot-free all those years ago, and now his estate is paying out the kudos to Ron's dad. The calculations do seem pretty basic, though - it's surprising they got it that wrong πŸ€”. Still, gotta respect Fred for sticking it out after all this time πŸ’ͺ. And I guess justice does kinda get served in some form, even if it's a bit too little, too late ⏰.

πŸ€” I'm not buying it... like, what's going on here? So O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted of murder but still got hit with a huge lawsuit, is now settling for nearly $58 million with Ron Goldman's dad. That's already 33.5 million (he didn't pay most of that) plus additional 117 mil from another court case... sounds like a lot to me πŸ€‘. But here's the thing - how does this work? He gets acquitted but still got sued for more money? And now his estate is just gonna settle it all without even contesting? This feels too convenient πŸ˜’. Where are the sources on these "simple judgment interest calculations"? What's really going on behind closed doors? 🀐

I don’t usually comment but... I feel bad for Ron's dad, Fred Goldman πŸ€•. $117 million is a huge sum, and it's crazy how O.J.'s estate can only pay back nearly half of that. But at the same time, I get why his dad kept pushing for more - justice shouldn't just be about getting money, right? The whole situation with O.J. is still kinda weird to think about 🀯. Like, was he really acquitted of murder or what? Anyway, I hope Fred Goldman gets some closure and the settlement brings him some peace of mind πŸ’•.

Ugh 🀯 what's wrong with people? Like, can't they just move on from all this drama πŸ’” O.J. Simpson was acquitted for a reason, and now his estate is getting punished all over again πŸ™„ Fred Goldman's family has been waiting for years to get some closure, but now it seems like they're gonna have to wait even longer 😀 And the fact that Malcolm LaVergne is trying to re-estimate the amount because of "simple judgment interest calculations" is just ridiculous πŸ’Έ Like, come on guys, can't you just be straightforward about this? πŸ™„ It's not like it's going to make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things.

😊 This is a bittersweet outcome for Fred Goldman. $58 million is still a massive amount, but it's better late than never 🀞. I can imagine how tough it must have been for him and his family all these years. The fact that Malcolm LaVergne wants to re-estimate the correct value shows he's willing to make things right πŸ’―. Fingers crossed this settlement brings some closure for everyone involved πŸ‘
