"RHOP" Star Mia Thornton Sued for Back Rent Weeks Before Arrest Over Alleged Furniture Theft.
Mia Thornton, a star of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Potomac," is facing eviction from a luxury condo in Atlanta after failing to pay rent weeks before she was arrested on charges of stealing thousands of dollars' worth of furniture from the same property.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Encore Management filed a lawsuit against Thornton and her ex-boyfriend and roommate Jared McGriff on September 11. The company claims that the duo failed to pay rent on the unit located in Atlanta, with outstanding amounts totaling $5,100 for September and $6,085 per month until the date of judgment.
Thornton and McGriff have not responded to the lawsuit, leaving Encore Management to pursue eviction proceedings against them. The reality star was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson airport last Wednesday on charges of stealing over $11,000 worth of furniture from the condo she was renting. According to police reports, Thornton was aware that a warrant had been issued for her arrest when she claimed responsibility for the theft.
Thornton announced her departure from "RHOP" in April after appearing on four seasons of the franchise and revealed plans to expand her empire in Atlanta. The allegations against her come as a surprise to fans who were unaware of any financial difficulties or disputes with her landlord.
