Champions League: Paramount wins rights to show games in UK from 2027

Paramount Wins Rights to Show Champions League Matches in the UK from 2027, Shattering Current Deal Worth Near £1bn.

The European football governing body Uefa has awarded Paramount a deal to show Champions League matches in the UK starting from 2027. According to sources, this new partnership will see Paramount pay more than the current deal worth nearly £1 billion that is currently held by TNT Sports. The BBC Sport reported on November 20, 2025, that the agreement would surpass TNT's package, which was a 23% decrease compared to the three-year prior agreement.

The joint initiative between Uefa and Relevent aims to promote streaming platforms for Champions League coverage. This strategy has led to a simultaneous tender across France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK in order to target "new global, digital-first platforms."

Paramount, a US media giant, will now host the Champions League matches in the UK for four years starting from 2027. The deal is said to be worth more than £1 billion.

However, this new development does not mean that fans will have an easy time watching their favorite teams compete in Europe's top-tier competition. Every time a broadcaster enters the TV rights market, it usually leads to supporters paying more to watch live football.

Paramount has a streaming service called Paramount+ which is best known for showing movies and exclusive series. The company plans to offer Champions League matches exclusively through this platform.

omg i feel you guys rn... another huge change in the sports world 🤯 it's like, one minute we're watching our fave teams compete on tv, and the next thing we know the prices are skyrocketing 😱 i'm not surprised though, with all these new streaming platforms popping up. it's a lot to take in. anyway, i guess this is just another step towards making football more... global? 🌎 but what about us fans who just wanna watch our teams play without breaking the bank? 💸 gotta say, having champions league matches on paramount+ sounds kinda cool, but only if they can make it affordable for everyone 💖

😒 I'm not super stoked about this new deal. I mean, I love watching the Champions League with my mates as much as the next guy, but do we really need another streaming platform taking over our feeds? Paramount+ is all about movies and shows, what's the point of paying more to watch football on a service that's not even optimized for sports? I'm also worried about TNT Sports losing their deal - they've done a great job covering the Champions League in the past. I just hope fans don't get caught up in the hype and end up shelling out more cash than we need to. 🤔

I'm low-key bummed about this news 🤔. I mean, the current deal was already getting pretty steep, and now it's gonna be even more expensive? I get that Paramount wants a piece of the action, but can't we just keep prices reasonable for fans who wanna watch their fave teams play live? 🏟️ Streaming platforms are supposed to make it easier, not harder, to access sports content. Plus, with Paramount+ only showing Champions League matches on this platform, I'm worried about the future of live broadcasts... and who's gonna be left out in the cold when they're on a 3-month blackout? 📺👀

Umm yeah so like I know some people are gonna be all bent outta shape about this new deal but honestly I think it's kinda cool that Paramount's getting in on the action. I mean, who doesn't love watching Champions League matches on their couch? 🏟️ And they're offering them exclusively on Paramount+ which is actually a pretty sweet deal if you ask me - all the matches for like £10 a month! That's not bad at all considering what we'd have to pay TNT Sports. Plus, I guess it's good that Uefa and Relevent are trying to promote streaming platforms or whatever. It's just one of those things that's gonna happen in the world of football, right? 🤑

I don't get why Uefa would go with a new partner when TNT Sports was already doing a pretty sweet deal 🤔. This just means more money for Paramount, but what about the fans? We're gonna have to pay even more to watch our teams play in the Champions League... not exactly ideal 😐. And let's be real, if all these streaming platforms start competing for rights, we'll end up with a situation where it's hard to find live matches on TV too 📺. I guess this is what happens when you're trying to keep football relevant in the digital age 💸

uk footy fans are about to get screwed 🤑 theyre gonna have to shell out even more dosh to watch their fave teams battle it out in the champs league. another streaming service jumping on the bandwagon, just waitin for us to pay up 💸 cant believe UEFA is playin the business card game here, and now paramounts gettin all of uk coverage 📺 gotta wonder if anyone's gonna be able to afford it by 2027

ugh what's up with uefa getting paid by paramount? dont they have any loyalty to the uk fans? think about it, now we gotta shell out more cash just cuz paramount wants a piece of the champions league action 🤑👀 meanwhile, who even gets access to these matches if not the BBC or TNT sports anymore? its like theyre making us pay for the privilege of watching our own team play in europe lol

ugh what's up with these huge TV deals? can't they just make it available on free streaming services like YouTube or something? i mean, £1 billion just seems crazy! especially since it's only gonna be available on Paramount+ which is basically just a movie streaming service 🤯💸

I'm not sure I'm thrilled about this new deal 🤔. With all these big media companies jumping into the Champions League TV rights market, it's only going to get more expensive for fans to watch their favorite teams play. I mean, £1 billion is a lot of cash, and I worry that prices are gonna skyrocket like crazy. And let's be real, if you wanna watch live football, you're gonna have to shell out even more money to stay on top of the action. It's a bummer because I love watching the Champions League, but it's just another example of how greedy corporations are willing to step on fans' wallets for their own gain 💸.

ugh, another one of these massive TV deals 🤯... I mean, I get it, money talks and all that, but can't we just stream the whole thing online already? ⏱️ Paramount+ is basically a movie streaming service, what's next? they're gonna start showing live Premier League matches on there too? 🤔... anyway, fans are in for a treat, I guess. more options to watch the Champions League, but at what cost? ⚽️ prices always seem to go up whenever a new company jumps into the market... it's like we'll never be able to afford tickets or something 🤑

🤔 I'm not sure if I should be stoked or annoyed about this deal. On one hand, having more options for watching the Champions League in the UK is a great thing! More platforms mean more chances for fans to catch their favorite teams competing. But on the other hand, does that really mean we'll see price hikes? 🤑 I'm already dreading what my football-loving mates and me will do when our fave teams are playing live... 😬 What's your take on this?

🤔 u guys won't be able to catch the champs league on the telly anymore... paramount's gonna stream everything online, including the big games! think about it, they're basically cutting out all the traditional tv channels and pushing ppl towards their own streaming service 📱. i'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad tbh, but one thing's for sure - prices are gonna go up and u'll probably need a decent-sized subscription to watch the actual matches 🤑. btw, have u seen the quality of champ league coverage on TNT sports lately? it was always kinda meh... maybe this will be a step in the right direction 👀

I think this deal between Uefa and Relevent is going to be super bad news for us UK football fans 🤦‍♂️. I mean, we're already having to pay more to watch live footy thanks to the current TV rights market, and now we're told that Paramount is going to make even more money off of it... not exactly what you'd call good news for our wallets 💸.

And let's be real, who really wants to have to stream every Champions League match online? I know I don't... I love watching the highlights on my phone or catching up with the BBC Sport website on a lazy Sunday afternoon, but sitting down for four hours of uninterrupted football streaming just sounds like a nightmare 😴.

I'm also worried about the future of live sport in general. If we're going to have to shell out more money to watch our favourite teams play, aren't we just going to lose interest? I mean, what's the point of watching a match if you can't even get a seat or hear the commentator clearly over the din of your household... 🤷‍♂️

I'm not totally sure about this new deal... 🤔 I mean, it's great that we'll have more options for watching the Champions League in the UK, but I worry about the price tag. £1 billion is a lot of money, and if fans can't afford to watch their favorite teams live, what's the point? 🤑

And I'm not convinced that Paramount+ is the right platform for it. I've seen some bad quality streaming here and there, and I don't want my beloved football team to be compromised by subpar video. Plus, what about other platforms? Will they have their own exclusive deals too? It's all a bit confusing... 😬

Still, I suppose it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Maybe Paramount can prove me wrong and deliver top-notch streaming quality. Fingers crossed! 🤞

🤔 so this deal between uefa and paramount is gonna increase the price of watching chelsea vs manchester united but i'm not surprised lol. has anyone checked the cost of living in london right now? if its like £10-15 a pop, that's already a pretty penny for football fans. and what's with paramount+ streaming it exclusively? why should we have to pay more just because they're doing ucla games on tv? 🤑👀

I'm really confused about this new deal... so UEFA gave Paramount the rights to show Champions League matches in the UK from 2027? That's a big change, right? I mean, TNT Sports had that deal for like £1 billion and now it's going to be over £1 billion with Paramount. What does that even mean?

I'm not really sure how streaming platforms are supposed to make money off of this. I guess it makes sense if everyone watches the matches online instead of on TV? But won't that just cost fans more money in the end, like you said? And what's up with Paramount+ not having any football games? It's a movie and series platform, so it doesn't really make sense for them to be showing Champions League matches...
