Got a Pixel 10? Google’s Android Phone Can Now Share Files With Apple’s AirDrop

Google has enabled Android phones, including the latest Pixel 10 series, to share files with Apple devices using AirDrop. This new feature allows users of Google's Pixel 10 smartphones to easily share digital content with iPhone and iPad owners, regardless of the platform they're on.

The cross-platform compatibility means that Pixel 10 users can now send files, contacts, photos, or any other type of data to their friends and family using AirDrop. The only requirement is for both parties to have their AirDrop settings set to "Everyone for 10 Minutes Only." This ensures a secure connection between the devices without routing through a server.

Google's implementation of this new sharing feature leverages Rust programming language, which provides comprehensive security for user data when shared or received. According to Dave Kleidermacher, vice president of Google's platforms security and privacy, these overlapping protections work together with secure connections to provide added safety for users.

While the feature is currently only available on the latest Pixel 10 series smartphones that launched in August, Google plans to expand it to more Android devices in the future. For now, users can try out this new functionality by selecting something to share and choosing "Quick Share" from the sharing menu, followed by setting their AirDrop settings to "Everyone for 10 Minutes Only."

Ugh, I'm so sick of Google trying to catch up with Apple again 🙄. Can't they just make their own thing instead of copying everyone else? And now that they've done this, I'm sure Apple will start mirroring this feature ASAP... it's like they're in some kind of tech game of musical chairs 🎸.

And don't even get me started on the "Everyone for 10 Minutes Only" setting. Who comes up with this stuff? It sounds so vague and unsecured to me 😬. I mean, what exactly does that even mean? Is it just a random timer or is there actual security behind it?

I guess this is all good news for people who use both Android and Apple devices... but for everyone else, it's just more complexity added to the mix 🤯. Can't we just have one platform with one set of features that works consistently?

omg i just tried this new feature on my pixel 10 and it's soooo cool 😍 i was able to send a pic of my cat molly to my friend sarah who has an iphone and she loved it! but seriously, this is such a game changer for me because i have friends with iPhones and iPads and now we can all share files without any hassle 🤯 i've been using google drive for ages but this is so much more convenient...i just hope they add it to more devices soon 🤞

🤔 So like they're finally making android and apple talk to each other... that's so cool! But why do we need special settings on both phones? Like can't we just share files w/o all that? 📱💻 And what's with the rust programming language thingy, does it sound fancy or something? 😂 I mean I know it's supposed to be secure but I'm still kinda nervous about sharing my pics and stuff online... how do i even know its safe? 🤷‍♀️

I'm low-key stoked about this new feature, tbh 🤩! Sharing files between Android and Apple devices has been a thing we've all wanted for ages. I mean, who hasn't had those moments where you're like, 'I need to share that funny meme with my BFF, but I don't wanna open up the whole messaging app' 😂? It's so cool that Google is making it easy with AirDrop on their Pixel 10 series. And, I gotta say, the fact that it uses Rust programming language for security gives me some peace of mind 💻. Let's hope they roll this out to more Android devices soon, like I said, Apple and Android compatibility is literally a game-changer 📱👍

omg I cant believe google is doing this 🤯! so like, my friend has an iphone and i have an android phone and it's always a hassle when we wanna share files with each other... now it seems like that's all gonna change lol!

wait but how does airdrop work exactly? its like magic or something? do they use some kind of special satellite or something to connect the devices? also, is this gonna be available for older android phones too?

🤯 I'm so stoked about this new feature! It's about time Apple and Google made it easy for us to share files across platforms. No more digging around for compatibility or dealing with complicated sharing methods 🙄. This AirDrop thingy is a total game changer, especially for Pixel 10 users like me 📱💻. I mean, who doesn't love the idea of being able to share contacts and photos with friends in just a few taps? The security aspect is also super cool, using Rust programming language and all that jazz 💯. Google's doing it right this time! Can't wait for them to expand it to more devices, that'll be lit 🔥.

I'm so stoked that Google finally brought us this feature 😎! Sharing files between Android and iOS has been a long time coming, and now I can easily send my favorite memes to my friends on iPhones without having to switch apps. It's like we're living in the future 🕰️! But seriously, it's awesome that they used Rust for security - I've heard great things about how safe it is. I'm also happy to see Google being all cautious and secure with this feature... who doesn't want to protect their files from prying eyes? 😉 And yay for Apple users too, now we can finally share stuff without having to use that clunky old cloud storage 🙄. Can't wait to try it out on my Pixel 10 series!

🤔 just thinking about it... 📱 having both android & apple devices in my life makes things easier, but this new feature is like a game changer! 🎮 no more back and forth between email or messaging apps to share files... just imagine being able to send a pic of your lunch (yes, that's what you're sharing) from your pixel 10 to an iphone on the same table with you 🤯. and it's secure too, which is great 👍 i'm def gonna try this out with my fam and friends soon 📲👫

so sick! 🤩 finally no more switching between apps on iphone just to find that file on my pixel 10 lol. like, how did we even live without this?! 🙄 but seriously, google's got some serious security game going on with the rust thingy... i love how they're making sure user data stays safe during file sharing. and yay for quick share! 👍 now i can finally hang out with my ios-using fam without feeling left behind 😊

Ugh, finally some good news that Google is getting its act together! I mean, I've been saying it for ages - we need more cross-platform compatibility on our phones. It's about time someone made it easy to share files between different ecosystems. And let's be real, who doesn't love sharing photos and vids with their Apple-loyal friends and family? 😂 The fact that Google is using Rust programming language to secure the connection is a major win - I mean, we all know how sketchy some of those other companies are when it comes to data protection.

But, like, why did they only make this feature available on the latest Pixel 10 series? That's just not fair to us Android users who want to try out new stuff. Hopefully, Google follows through on their promise and makes it available to more devices soon. And can we please get a stable Wi-Fi connection in our homes already?! 🤦‍♂️

omg just tried this new feature on my pixel 10 and it's SO cool 🤩 i was so tired of searching for other ways to share files between my apple devices and now it's as easy as pie 🍰, thanks google 😊

omg this is so lit 🤯 i've been waiting for this feature for ages on my old phone lol, now i can finally share files with my apple loving sis without having to use that annoying cloud thing 🌫️ does anyone know if we'll be able to send messages too via airdrop? that would be a game changer for me 😂
