Swatch is bringing its online watch design platform, AI-DADA, to market for the first time. The new tool uses OpenAI's image-generation software to let users create entirely unique watches from scratch.
The AI-powered platform lets users prompt the model with their own idea and wait for a "unique watch design" to be generated in under two minutes. However, not all designs can be produced on demand due to manufacturing limitations.
Currently, only the New Gent model is available for customization through AI-DADA, but other Swatch models will be added later. The tool will initially be available only in Switzerland from November 21 and will cost around $210 for a customized version of the New Gent.
Swatch CEO Nick Hayek Jr. admitted that his first prompts on AI-DADA were centered around "sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll," but he was told by the model's creators that this content wasn't allowed. However, Hayek is open to the possibility of offering bespoke MoonSwatches in the future.
While some may be skeptical about the capabilities of AI-DADA, Swatch has emphasized that it will own all the designs created through the platform and anonymize customer submissions.
