Jair Bolsonaro arrested after tampering with ankle tag 'out of curiosity'

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested after attempting to damage his electronic ankle monitor, claiming he did so out of curiosity. The arrest came after a supreme court judge issued a preventive warrant due to suspicions that Bolsonaro was planning to flee the country to avoid punishment for masterminding a military coup.

In a video released by the supreme court, Bolsonaro is heard admitting to using a soldering iron to tamper with the device on his ankle. The footage shows the device badly damaged and burned on both sides, but still in place. This brazen move has raised questions about the former president's intentions and his willingness to evade justice.

Bolsonaro's arrest was made possible by the fears of the supreme court justice, Alexandre de Moraes, that the vigil planned by Bolsonaro's senator son could be used as a diversion for an escape attempt. The judge had noted how Bolsonaro lived close to the US embassy and had previously sought asylum in Argentina.

As news of his arrest spread, supporters of Bolsonaro were planning to hold a "vigil" outside his luxury condominium, while others celebrated what they saw as a victory over the former president's attempts to evade justice. Bolsonaro's lawyers have vowed to appeal against the decision, claiming it would put their client's life at risk due to his poor health.

The arrest has been welcomed by Lula supporters and progressives, who see it as a major victory in bringing the former president to justice for his role in undermining democracy. As one congresswoman tweeted, "Brazil smiles. A wonderful day."

OMG u wont believe what just happened!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ so like Jair Bolsonaro was trying to damage his own ankle monitor lol I mean who does that?!?!๐Ÿ˜‚ he claimed it was out of curiosity but come on! ๐Ÿคฃ the supreme court judge must've been like "yeah right" ๐Ÿ™„ and now hes all banged up. its kinda crazy how some ppl will do anything 2 avoid accountability ๐Ÿ˜’ but at least justice was served and Lula supporters r celebrating ๐ŸŽ‰ this is like something outta a movie, doesnt it?! ๐Ÿคฏ

๐Ÿคฏ So I'm thinking this is some wild stuff going on with Bolsonaro trying to mess with his ankle monitor ๐Ÿ˜‚ like what's next? He's got a soldering iron and everything! I feel for the guy who has to watch him get taken down, it must be hard work ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. The fact that he was trying to use his senator son's vigil as a diversion is pretty shady too ๐Ÿ‘€. But at the same time, you can't blame the supreme court justice for taking action when they suspect someone's up to no good ๐Ÿค”. It's all about accountability, right? And I gotta say, it's kinda awesome that Lula supporters are celebrating this development ๐Ÿ˜Š. Justice may not always be pretty, but sometimes it's necessary ๐Ÿ’ฏ

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ come on, Bolsonaro, how do you expect to be taken seriously when you're trying to damage your own ankle monitor like that? ๐Ÿ˜‚ it's not even a good attempt! i mean, I get it, curiosity and all, but still... ๐Ÿ˜ what if someone had seen you trying to fix your own ankle monitor at the exact same time he was planning on making his escape? ๐Ÿค” that would've been a whole lot more convincing. and now everyone's like "oh no, he's clearly trying to flee" ๐Ÿ‘€ and it just makes him look even more dodgy. ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Can you believe this guy's ankles are more stubborn than my aunt during a family gathering ๐Ÿคฃ. Like, come on Jair, how many times do you need to get caught trying to cheat the system? And now he's burning his own devices like they're burnt offerings to the justice gods ๐Ÿ”ฅ. It's all a bit too much, even for me! I mean, if he was that curious about his ankle monitor, maybe he should've just asked Amazon for a tutorial on how to use it ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. On a more serious note, though, this is awesome news for Brazil - who needs a president with a history of trying to flee justice? Not me, that's for sure ๐Ÿ˜….

omg this is like something out of a drama novel ๐Ÿคฏ i'm still trying to wrap my head around it... i mean, who tries to damage their own ankle monitor ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ? and the fact that he was planning to flee the country is just wild ๐Ÿšซ. i feel bad for lula supporters though, they must be relieved that justice is being served ๐Ÿ˜Œ. on a lighter note, can you imagine our school's administration trying to do something like this ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ˜‚. we'd be like "um, no mr headmaster, please don't attempt to tamper with your own ankle monitor" lol anyway, it's good to see that the law is being upheld ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh I cant even right now lol what is going on with Bolsonaro?? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Like seriously does he not have any shame? He's literally trying to damage his own ankle monitor thinking it's some kinda game ๐Ÿ˜‚ and that supreme court judge caught him red handed. I mean I get it, the guy is a total narcissist but come on.

And can we talk about how convenient this all is for the Lula supporters? Like the fact that Bolsonaro lived close to the US embassy and had already tried asylum in Argentina was just "a coincidence" ๐Ÿ™„. The whole thing feels like it was set up for him to get caught. And those protests outside his condo, yay for more drama ๐Ÿ˜’.

I swear I'm so over this guy and all the drama he brings with him. Can't we just have some real news for once instead of this soap opera stuff? ๐Ÿคฏ

idk how i feel about this lol ๐Ÿค”... like, on one hand, good job to the supreme court judge for not letting bolsonaro get away with it! that ankle monitor was a pretty clever way to keep him under wraps ๐Ÿ˜‚. but at the same time, i'm worried about what this says about brazil's justice system... is it really so bad that people need to resort to surveillance like that? ๐Ÿค” and whats up with bolsonaro's "curiosity" excuse? sounds like a bit of a dodgy story if you ask me ๐Ÿค‘. anyway, gotta give credit where credit is due - whoever got the video footage of him tampering with the monitor did some serious investigative journalism ๐Ÿ’ก!

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ can you believe this guy? trying to damage his own ankle monitor just out of curiosity? what's next is he gonna try to escape from a straightjacket? ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’ผ i mean, i know people love to spin the narrative that lula is a dictator, but at least he's not trying to pull a fast one like this. and honestly, if bolsonaro thought his son's vigil was gonna be a diversion for an escape attempt, then maybe he should've planned better than just sending his kid out there with some candles and posters ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿ“ฐ

๐Ÿค” man this is like a perfect example of how some people can't handle accountability you know? like bolsonaro thinks he's above the law just 'cause he was the president but really he was just trying to cover his tracks and now he's paying for it ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ฅ and i mean what is with the soldering iron tho? like what was he thinking? did he not know that would be seen on security cameras or something? ๐Ÿ˜‚ it's all so... calculated and desperate

anyway this whole thing just highlights how important it is to hold people in power accountable for their actions especially when they're trying to undermine democracy ๐Ÿค it's like lula said, 'brazil smiles' because justice has finally been served and we can all breathe a sigh of relief ๐Ÿ˜Œ but at the same time let's not forget that this is just one chapter in a long story and there are still many more questions to be answered ๐Ÿ’ญ

๐Ÿ˜’ this is just so predictable... like, who tries to damage their own ankle monitor? sounds like something a fugitive would do, not some high-ranking politician trying to play dumb ๐Ÿค” what's next, gonna claim he was just checking the tech or something? and btw, who thought it was a good idea for him to live near the US embassy anyway? safety first, right? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm literally shaking my head... like, I don't even know what's going on anymore ๐Ÿคฏ with this guy. On one hand, I think it's pretty messed up that he was trying to damage his own ankle monitor, but at the same time, can you really blame him for being curious? Like, who wouldn't want to see how their fancy gadget works? ๐Ÿค” But then again, what he did is still super reckless and shows a clear disregard for the law. I'm not even gonna try to justify it... unless someone can explain to me why he didn't just ask his lawyers to take care of it like a normal person ๐Ÿ™„. And honestly, some people are celebrating this? Like, isn't that just him being more reckless and putting himself in danger? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

omg this is crazy!!! ๐Ÿคฏ bolsonaro trying to sneak away from justice? no way, man! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ he thinks he's some kinda mastermind but really he just looks like a clumsy uncle trying to fix his own ankle monitor with a soldering iron ๐Ÿคช. seriously though, it's all about accountability, you know? ๐Ÿ‘Š we gotta hold people in power responsible for their actions, especially when they're trying to undermine democracy. ๐ŸŒŸ lula and the brazilian people are gonna be celebrating this for a long time! ๐Ÿ’ฅ #JusticeForBrazil #BolsonaroGotCaught #AccountabilityMatters
