Brighton Hove Albion staged an incredible comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over Brentford in the Premier League at Falmer Stadium. The Seagulls had trailed at half-time, but Jack Hinshelwood's return from injury was marked with a goal as they fought back to claim all three points.
Hinshelwood netted just before the hour mark, cancelling out Yoane Winteri's opening goal for Brentford in the 51st minute. The leveller seemed to have set up a tense second half, but Brighton were buoyed by their visitors' increasing desperation and pushed hard for an equaliser.
The breakthrough came when Brighton goalkeeper Maty Ryan was adjudged to have handled Alireza Jahanbakhsh's cross in the box, with referee Chris Kavanagh awarding a penalty. Substitute Alexis Mac Allister subsequently sent the visitors crashing down 2-1 after converting the spot-kick in the 85th minute.
Despite their narrow defeat, Brentford will be heartened by their performance and Hinshelwood's welcome return to action for Brighton, who now travel to Anfield to face Liverpool next Sunday.
