Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Say Goodbye to ‘Wicked’ Characters With Emotional Tributes: ‘I Will Love You Always’

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have bid farewell to their iconic characters in 'Wicked: For Good'. The two actresses, who played Glinda and Elphaba respectively, took to social media to share emotional tributes to the beloved characters from Jon M. Chu's movie musical.

Grande posted a series of unseen moments while on set, giving fans a glimpse into her time as Glinda, including arriving at her trailer, transforming into the character, and admiring her pink gowns. In one poignant post, Grande penned an heartfelt message to her character: "Thank you, my sweet Glinda, for everything... I will love you always… 'Wicked: For Good' is out now."

Cynthia Erivo, on the other hand, paid a more introspective tribute to her character Elphaba. In a lengthy Instagram post, she shared behind-the-scenes moments from the film, including images of her soaring on Elphaba's broomstick and posing with co-stars. Erivo also wrote a powerful poem-esque caption, expressing her gratitude for the experience and the lessons learned: "I could write you an essay... The truth is the numbers are too small and the words are not enough. So I'll simply say this: Take my hand and walk with me to the end of this road paved with gold, and hopefully, the things that I've found might find you too."

The official 'Wicked' account also jumped on social media to celebrate the actresses' performances, sharing a video montage of Grande and Erivo hugging and dancing while on set, captioned: "A friendship that changed us for good." The outpouring of love and appreciation from the two actresses serves as a fitting conclusion to their time as Glinda and Elphaba.

And now that the movie is out, it's amazing how the actresses are sharing all these behind-the-scenes moments with us on social media. It's so sweet of them to share their memories of working on the film. The video montage from the official 'Wicked' account was just the cherry on top - those scenes of Ariana and Cynthia hugging and dancing together were just too adorable! 💕 But what really stood out to me was Cynthia's poem caption - it was so beautifully written, and I love how she captured the essence of her time as Elphaba. It's clear that both actresses are going to be missed by fans of 'Wicked'.

🤩 I'm loving the nostalgia wave with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's farewell posts! It's amazing how much you can feel the emotions behind those moments, like you're right there on set with them 😊. Both of their tributes were so heartfelt, it made me go "aww" 🙌. It's a beautiful reminder that even when a role comes to an end, the memories and lessons learned stay with you forever 🙏💫

Ugh, I'm so over these celebrity farewell posts 🙄. Like, can't they just move on already? And what's with all the sappiness? "Thank you, my sweet Glinda" ? Get real Ariana, it was just a paycheck job 😂. And Cynthia Erivo's poem... wow, try not to be so deep, sweetheart 💁‍♀️. It's just a movie musical, not a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel 📚. I mean, I guess the tribute is sweet and all, but can we please just get to the good stuff? Like, where's the behind-the-scenes gossip? 🤫 And btw, did they even mention the cast members who actually worked hard and deserved more recognition? 🙄

I'm so glad Ariana Grande got to wear those iconic pink gowns... I mean, who wouldn't want to spend their days prancing around in sparkly outfits? 🤣 And Cynthia Erivo's poem was super deep, not at all cringeworthy 😴. Can you believe they're actually done playing these characters now? It feels like just yesterday we were belting out "Defying Gravity" with them 💁‍♀️. Anyway, it's always bittersweet when something iconic ends, but I'm sure we'll be watching their performances on repeat for years to come 🎥.

Ugh, I'm so over how they're trying to sell 'Wicked: For Good' now that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are leaving their iconic roles 😒. Can't we just get rid of the merchandising for a sec? Like, I don't need a Glinda costume replica or Elphaba-themed socks... 🤑

I mean, I love those two as much as the next fan, but can't they just leave some closure without all the sales pitches? It's like, we get it, you guys are talented and amazing 👏. But do we really need a "friendship that changed us for good" video to make me want to watch the movie again? 🤷‍♀️

omg i'm totally bawling reading Ariana's tribute to Glinda 🤯💖 those behind-the-scenes pics are everything! she was born to play that role, no wonder it feels like they're not saying goodbye at all 💫 meanwhile Cynthia's poem is giving me LIFE 🙌 her voice in the movie brought so much depth and emotion to Elphaba... can't wait to see what she does next! 😊

🎭 Ariana & Cynthia's farewell is giving me all the feels 😭 - they were born to play these iconic roles, it's bittersweet seeing them go 🕰️

🤔 so I'm loving the emotional tributes from Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo but can we get some sources on those "unseen moments" they're sharing? Like, are these just behind-the-scenes vids or is there more to them than that? 📹 also I'm curious what's with the poetic captions from Erivo... is this like a standard thing for actors in musicals now? 🤷‍♀️

aww, Ariana & Cynthia are just too sweet 🤗🎭 they really got me emotional with those tributes 💖 especially Cynthia's poem-esque caption... "Take my hand and walk with me to the end of this road paved with gold" gives me chills 😍 what a beautiful way to say goodbye to their iconic roles 👋

omg I'm dying over here! they're like, totally bawling in public but in a 'I had the best experience ever' kinda way 🤣 can you even imagine walking around with a 6'1" frame painted as pink and sparkly all day? Ariana Grande's trailer selfies are giving me LIFE 💁‍♀️ Cynthia Erivo's poem though... so emotional I need a tissue 🙏

omg can't believe it's really over... i'm so sad Ariana Grande was literally born to play glinda her portrayal was everything Cynthia Erivo though, she brought so much depth to elphaba 🤩 the way they both expressed their gratitude on social media gave me all the feels i loved seeing behind-the-scenes moments from the movie it's clear they're gonna miss playing those iconic roles
