Pete Carroll explains ‘winning formula’ Raiders couldn’t find with Chip Kelly

Pete Carroll has explained that the Las Vegas Raiders' failure to win, despite hiring Chip Kelly, was due to not finding their "winning formula".

The decision to fire Kelly, who left his Ohio State job earlier this year on a $6 million contract, came after the team's 2-9 record. However, Carroll stated there were no differing opinions between the two men over game plans. He praised Kelly's background and the phenomenal season he had coming out of Ohio State last year.

Carroll concluded that as much as they wanted to give Kelly his due, they just couldn't find it. They will continue with Greg Olson on an interim basis.

man I'm kinda surprised Pete Carroll is still around after all those years, you'd think he'd know what's gonna work by now 🤔. hiring Chip Kelly was a bold move, but i guess not finding that 'winning formula' is hard to shake off, especially when you're 2-9 and struggling to even get wins.

i feel for Kelly though, $6 million is a pretty penny to take on a struggling team, especially with the Raiders' history of... well, not being very good 😅. but at the end of the day it's all about results, and apparently that's what they just couldn't deliver.

greg olson's the interim man now, might be an interesting hire, never knew much about him but he might be the spark this team needs to get back on track 💡.

Umm yeah I dont think carrolls explanation holds water 🤔. If the team was struggling so bad 2-9 and still managed 2 win a few games, then surely finding their formula wouldnt be that hard 😂. I mean, what exactly is this winning formula we r talking about here? Is it just magic ✨? Pete carroll seems like hes trying 2 cover his own backside 🙅‍♂️, firin Kelly and makin it sound like its not a big deal 🤷‍♂️. And yeah chip kelly left ohio state on a 6 million dollar contract 💸, thats some serious cash 😩. I think carroll shouldve just kept him as OC and seen what happens 👀

😐 think carroll is trying 2 sugarcoat the whole thing, lol. kelly's still got some great ideas but i guess its not enough 2 carry that team 2 the promised land. $6 mil is a decent chunk of change but maybe it wasn't enuf to make a real difference. dont get me wrong, carroll did him justice by sayin what he said about kelly's background... 👏. but u can tell theres still a little bit of doubt in his voice. and now they're just gonna stick w/ olson on an interim basis? that just feels like settlin. 🤔

I'm a bit surprised by the Raiders' decision to fire Chip Kelly, you know? 🤔 I mean, he's got some serious credentials coming out of Ohio State. But at the same time, 2-9 is pretty brutal. 😬 You gotta wonder if it's just one of those things where you gotta get a bit rusty after a few years in the NFL or what.

I'm not saying Kelly isn't the problem, but I think it's a bit oversimplified to say they just didn't find their 'winning formula'. That's a pretty big chunk of the season, right? 🤦‍♂️ And what about the guys around him - was he working with the right coaches, had the right support staff?

I'm actually kinda curious to see how Greg Olson does as an interim coach. Can't be any worse, right? 😅

😊 I think Pete Carroll is being pretty diplomatic about the whole Chip Kelly debacle. Hiring a high-profile coach like Kelly should have been a win-win for the team, and you'd think he'd be more integral to their plans by now. The fact that they're parting ways suggests there's still some uncertainty surrounding what works for the Raiders. I mean, it's not exactly surprising given Kelly's reputation as an innovator – sometimes those changes don't quite stick in real-world applications. That being said, I do wonder if the team is just playing catch-up on some fundamental aspects of their game plan. The "winning formula" concept feels like a nice way to spin it, though! Anyway, Greg Olsen will likely try to stabilize things for now 🤔

🤔 I feel bad for Chip Kelly, $6 million is a crazy sum to be on the chopping block, especially considering he's still relatively new to the league 🤑. Pete Carroll seems like a stand-up guy though, giving him some serious props after his stint at Ohio State last year 👏.

I'm not surprised he got canned after 2-9 though, that record is pretty brutal 😬. The whole thing about not finding their "winning formula" kinda makes sense I guess? 🤔 It's like trying to find the perfect recipe for your favorite dish, it's just not always gonna come together ⚗️.

Greg Olson as interim coach might be a decent stopgap solution, but you gotta wonder what was going on behind the scenes that led to Kelly getting let go in the first place 🤷‍♂️. Still, wish Chip all the best and hope he lands somewhere better soon 😊.

man.. i think this is a great reminder that even in sports, there's more to winning than just X's and O's 🤔... like, what is this "winning formula" that you're talking about? is it something inside the players themselves, or is it about the team culture, the front office, the coaches...?

i think pete carroll is being pretty honest here, saying they couldn't find it. but what does that even mean? are we talking about some kind of intangible thing that can't be quantified or studied like a science experiment? 🤖... and what about chip kelly, who had an amazing season at ohio state last year... was it just a fluke?

anyway, i guess what's interesting is how this team tried to adapt and change things up, but still couldn't find the magic. maybe it's a reminder that sometimes you gotta know when to hold 'em and fold 'em 🃏...

🤔 I'm not surprised they fired Chip Kelly, to be honest. I mean, the Raiders had a pretty rough season and 2-9 is not exactly a winning formula 📊. But what really got me is that Pete Carroll kept saying it wasn't about game plans... like, come on man! 😂 It's gotta be something. And $6 million for one year? That's some serious scratch 💸.

I feel bad for Kelly though, the guy came out of Ohio State on fire 🔥 and you'd think a team with that kind of talent would be able to make it work. But I guess sometimes it just doesn't click 🤷‍♂️. And now they're gonna stick with Greg Olson? That's like, interim coach... forever 😅. Guess we'll see what happens next season! 💪

I mean, can you believe Pete Carroll said that? I was thinking the same thing, like they spent so much on Chip Kelly and still didn't get the results... 🤔 But yeah, not finding their "winning formula" is a pretty weak excuse if you ask me 😐. I guess it's easy to blame someone else when your team just isn't clicking. On the bright side, Greg Olson seems like a solid interim choice, so fingers crossed for the Raiders! 👍

im thinkin its weird how ppl get so caught up in these coaching changes lol. like, whats the big deal? the raiders lost games, that's what matters not who's behind the bench 🤷‍♂️. i mean, i loved chip kelly's game at ohio state, but hiring him for 6 mil and he still couldn't lead the raiders to wins is def a red flag 🔥. they gotta find their rhythm or whatever before makin some big moves again. gotta respect carroll for bein honest tho, admittin it wasn't meant to be 🙏. now we just wait and see what happens with olson at the helm...

I'm loving how Pete Carroll is being so chill about firing Chip Kelly 🤗. I mean, the guy's got a rep for being super honest and giving credit where credit's due... like praising Kelly's background & that crazy Ohio State season he had last year! 👏 It's all about finding that winning formula, right? 💡 And honestly, 2-9 record's not too shabby to start with 🤔. Firing him mid-season can't have been easy for the team or for Kelly himself 😞. But you gotta believe in your coaches and make tough calls when it comes to finding what works best for the squad 💪. Here's hoping Greg Olson brings some stability and gets them back on track 🔄!

😒 I'm not sure what's more puzzling, the fact that the Raiders still can't figure out their formula or why they're always changing coaches like they're going out of style 🤯. Chip Kelly's got some crazy credentials, I mean, he took over at Ohio State and went 8-0 in his first season - that's no joke! 🙌 And to think, they paid him $6 million to leave... I guess it's all about finding the right fit, but what really is this "winning formula" they're always talking about? It seems like they're just making things up as they go along 😂. Still, you've gotta feel for Pete Carroll - he's trying his best, even if they don't seem to be getting anywhere 🤷‍♂️.

idk what u guys r talking abt... Pete Carroll is all about results, u gotta respect that 🤔. If the team's not winning, he's outta there. He can't be bothered with finding a "winning formula" if it's not working. Chip Kelly's a big name, but $6 mil for what? Not getting the job done? That's just maths 📊. The fact that Carroll praises Kelly's background and game plans doesn't change the fact that they didn't get the win... next guy's gotta step up 💪. And now Greg Olson's in charge on an interim basis, hopefully he brings some wins to the table 👀.

idk what's more surprising, that they hired chip kelly in the first place or that they thought he could turn around their team 🤷‍♂️. i mean, 2-9 is a pretty clear indication of something being wrong and just throwing money at it doesn't always work, you know? anyway, gotta respect pete carroll for being honest about it, but yeah, sometimes even the best coaches can't fix everything 💪

I'm like totally confused about this decision 🤯. So Pete Carroll is saying that the Raiders just couldn't figure out their winning formula? That's kinda harsh, you know? I mean, Chip Kelly is a legend coach and he was hired for a reason 💡. And they're gonna fire him over a 2-9 record? That's rough. I feel bad for Kelly, he left Ohio State on a million-dollar contract and now he's getting the axe 🚫. I get that they wanna shake things up but it seems like they're just making excuses instead of taking responsibility. Greg Olson is cool and all, but can't they at least give Kelly some credit? 🤷‍♂️

man... i feel like this is a classic case of "trying to put the puzzle pieces together" you know? like carroll's saying they needed that winning formula but honestly, maybe what they were trying to force wasn't gonna work out. kelley was already having a phenomenal season and it's easy to see why they brought him in, but sometimes the hardest part is acknowledging when your approach isn't gonna lead to success 🤔. i mean, we all know some people are just meant to be in certain roles or situations. it's like the pieces didn't fit together. and now they're trying another guy, greg olson, who might not have the same level of hype but can still deliver results 🔍. its all about finding what works for you, i guess...

😒 the NFL is a joke 🤣 and now this ? Pete Carroll is saying they didn't have a "winning formula" 😂 what does that even mean? are they just gonna keep hiring coaches until one of them magically finds it? 💸 6 million dollars for Chip Kelly's one-year gig is straight trash 🤑 and I'm no expert but i think the team's 2-9 record says it all - they're not good enough ⚠️. Greg Olson on an interim basis? 🤷‍♂️ that's just delaying the inevitable, imo 👎
