Philly to Prepare for 106th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. Here's the Lowdown.
Chill temperatures with highs around 44 degrees are expected before dropping below freezing on Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. The parade will be broadcast on 6abc starting at 8:30 a.m., and also streamed on Hulu or ABCNewsLive.
For those who want to catch the spectacle in person, the route starts at 20th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, moving eastbound to 16th Street, then north, and eventually west on Benjamin Franklin Parkway before disperse at Kelly Drive and Spring Garden Extension near the Philadelphia Art Museum.
However, be prepared for road closures as traffic patterns will return to normal no later than 3 p.m. Thursday, with temporary closures starting Monday evening for setup and rehearsals, while SEPTA operates on a Sunday schedule. Parking restrictions have also been put in place along certain streets.
Some highlights of the parade include performances by Motown legends Four Tops, singer-songwriter David Archuleta, and "American Idol" star Jordin Sparks, as well as ensemble Arts Philly singing numbers from various musicals, and the Philadelphia Orchestra and Philadelphia Ballet performing.
The TV broadcast will be hosted by an "Action News" team of Rick Williams, Alicia Vitarelli, Cecily Tynan, Karen Rogers, and Adam Joseph, who will be joined by special guests including Sam Champion, Carson Kressley, Ryan Seacrest, the cast of "Abbott Elementary", and Ken Jennings.
The parade's timing is set to begin at 9 a.m. sharp, with pre-show coverage starting at 8:30 a.m., so plan your day accordingly.
