What stores are open, closed Thanksgiving Day 2025?

Several big-name retailers remain open for business on Thanksgiving Day in 2025, providing shoppers with some much-needed retail therapy before or after the traditional Turkey Day feast.

Among those staying afloat on the holiday are Whole Foods Market, which will operate with standard hours at most locations, and Big Lots. The latter chain is also extending its shopping hours to include Thanksgiving Day, allowing customers to browse and buy their favorite products until 9 pm.

Meanwhile, some grocery stores like HEB and Kroger have set aside a more limited window of time for shoppers, specifically between 6 am and 12 pm, while others like Dollar General are staying open longer.

However, not all retailers are joining the holiday shopping fray. This includes Target, which has made it permanent policy to close on Thanksgiving; Walmart, Costco, BJ's Wholesale Club, Dick's Sporting Goods, Home Depot, Kohl's, Macy's, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods; and Walgreens.

Starbucks will also be operating, but store hours may vary by location. Wegmans, a grocery market chain, is keeping its stores open until 4 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Some smaller retailers like Trader Joe's are opting out of the shopping holiday altogether.

On Black Friday, things might get even busier at Walmart and Best Buy, which will reopen after their respective Thanksgiving closures.

I'm so frustrated that some big names aren't closing their doors on Turkey Day 😩. I know some people need to score deals, but can't we take a break from the hustle & bustle for one day? πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ All that shopping stress can be really tough on our mental health 🀯. And what about those who actually do want to spend quality time with loved ones? πŸ€— It's all about finding that balance, right? I'm glad some places like Wegmans are keeping their stores open until 4 pm for us shoppers who need a little extra time πŸ™Œ.

Man... it just shows how everyone's lost touch with what's really important πŸ€”. Back in my day, we'd all spend Turkey Day with our families, not stuck in a mall with crowds and lines everywhere... 😩 Retailers used to have some sense of decency too, you know? Now they're just trying to make a buck off us desperate shoppers on the one day when most people actually need a break πŸ€‘. And don't even get me started on how weird it is that everyone's still glued to their phones on Thanksgiving... what happened to enjoying some quality time with loved ones? πŸ˜”

ugh i cant believe some ppl think it's cool to drag shoppers into a holiday nightmare just cuz they wanna make a buck πŸ€‘ meanwhile those who do close down are actually giving people a break from all the chaos, like Target is literally showing compassion and respecting people's time on that day

i mean what's wrong with wanting a peaceful turkey day? cant we just enjoy our food and spend time with family without being bombarded by endless shopping ads and crowded stores? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ and dont even get me started on the so-called "retail therapy" thing... like, who thought that was a good idea? πŸ˜‚

anyway, i guess its great to see some retailers being considerate of their employees and customers' well-being, but at the same time, it's also kinda annoying when people make fun of them for closing down on thanksgiving day πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ like, can we just be grateful for the ones who do? 😊

I'm loving this trend of more retailers opening up on Thanksgiving! It's about time we gave our feet a break from being glued to those floors for hours on end while the family cooks dinner πŸ™Œ. I mean, who doesn't need some retail therapy with all that tryptophan-induced food coma energy just waiting to be spent? Plus, it's great for those who have younger family members or elderly relatives they'd rather not disturb on Turkey Day. The ones that are staying open with limited hours still give shoppers a chance to grab essentials or snag some last-minute deals. It's all about flexibility and convenience now! πŸ›οΈ

omg i cant believe some big chains r keepin it open on thanksgiving lol wut about ppl who actually wanna relax n enjoy the day? like dont they deserve a break too? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ anyway, whole foods is doin me a solid by stayin open tho, cant wait to grab some organic turkey & stuffing πŸ¦ƒπŸž also, 6 am to 12 pm at kroger sounds like a decent window if u ask me...idk about walmart and best buy tho, r they really gonna make us shop on black friday? 😩

Wow 🀩 interesting that people still wanna shop on Thanksgiving Day! Like, who needs a break from family when you can get some sales, right? But for those who do, I guess it's great they have places like Whole Foods and Big Lots to go to. And yeah, some stores are staying open later than others, so shoppers have more options. It's weird that some big chains like Target and Walmart are closed though... I mean, what's the point of having sales if you're not even gonna offer 'em? Anyway, seems like it's just another day for shoppers to get their holiday shopping on πŸ›οΈ

I don't get it why some big chains are keepin' their doors open on Turkey Day lol. Like, what's up with that? Back in 2015 I was at Whole Foods and they were closed like, yay! Now they're just doin' the bare minimum. And Walmart's always been a bit weird about this stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love my post-tryptophan shopping as much as the next person, but come on, can't we all just have one day to chill? Meanwhile, I'm glad some smaller stores like Trader Joe's are keepin' it real and not botherin' with the holiday chaos.

idk why ppl gotta open up on thanksgiving day anyway... its like, dont they know its a chill day 4 fam & friends? lol some ppl just wanna relax 4g8 w/ their fave foods n movies 🍽️🍿 but noooo, retailers r makin $$$ offa people's turkey-induced shopping sprees πŸ’ΈπŸ˜’

πŸ›οΈ i think its kinda weird that some stores are still open on thanksgiving day when most ppl r tryna relax & enjoy time w family & friends πŸ€” meanwhile others r closin up shop & lettin ppl take a breather lol anyway, im a fan of whole foods stayin open cuz who doesnt love free samples? πŸ§€ and its dope that big lots is extendin their hours 2 like 9 pm thats so convenient 4 ppl w busy schedules πŸ‘

Retailers are still doing it for us πŸ›οΈ. I mean, who needs an extra day off when you can get those Black Friday deals early? πŸ’Έ According to my data, last year's Thanksgiving sales were up 15% from the previous year, with the average American spending around $400 on retail therapy. That's a lot of turkey-day shopping! πŸ¦ƒ

Here's a chart showing the top 5 retailers that are staying open on Thanksgiving:

* Whole Foods Market (72% of locations)
* Big Lots (54% of locations)
* HEB (46% of locations)
* Kroger (42% of locations)
* Dollar General (40% of locations)

Meanwhile, the 'Black Friday closed' retailers had a 23% drop in sales last year compared to the same time the previous year πŸ“‰. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for their shopping policies.

Also, did you know that on average, Thanksgiving shoppers spend around $300 per person? That's a lot of cash! πŸ’Έ

I'm so over these big companies deciding to stay open on Thanksgiving πŸ™„. Like, can't they just take a day off like normal people? It's supposed to be a time for family and friends, not just a shopping spree πŸ›οΈ. And what about the employees who have to work on this holiday? I'm sure they'd rather spend it with their loved ones too πŸ˜”. I mean, why do we need retail therapy anyway? Can't we get that from browsing social media or watching Netflix all day instead? πŸ“ΊπŸ’»

I wonder why we feel the need to rush into work or shopping on this one day a year... like it's some kind of moral obligation? Is it because we're already burning the candle at both ends, waiting for the long weekend? I guess what I'm saying is that Thanksgiving should be a time to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of consumerism. It's like, don't get me wrong, a good shopping spree can be fun, but when it comes down to it, there are more important things in life... like spending quality time with loved ones or just chillin' at home πŸ€”πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

omg u can still shop at whole foods on thanksgiving lol i feel like its so rude that some ppl have to stay home on turkey day tho πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ anyway, its cool that big lots is stayin open late lol like who needs to sleep on black friday when u can just shop till 9 pm? πŸ›οΈ meanwhile, walmart and costco are like the rebels of retail they close up on thanksgiving but reopen the next day for all the shoppers πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ some ppl might say its rude but i think its cool that we get to spread out our shopping over a few days now πŸ“¦

Retailers think they're doing us a solid by staying open on Turkey Day πŸ™„. Like, what's wrong with people taking a break from shopping to actually enjoy the holiday? I mean, who needs to trudge through crowded stores and deal with annoying Black Friday ads when you could be with your family eating turkey and stuffing? And don't even get me started on the fact that some of these stores are still trying to squeeze in some last-minute sales. Newsflash: Thanksgiving is about more than just shopping.

I'm not entirely surprised that some big-name retailers are still open for business on Thanksgiving Day πŸ€”. I mean, it's all about giving customers what they want, right? But still, it feels like a bit of a stretch to be shopping on the same day as everyone else is trying to relax with their families 😴. Don't get me wrong, if you're one of those people who loves scoring deals and can handle the crowds, go for it! πŸ›οΈ But for those of us who value our Turkey Day downtime... maybe it's better to just shop online or wait until after the holiday? πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

ugh dont they get it? its thanksgiving day for families to relax and spend time with loved ones not to queue up for hours in a crowded store πŸ™„ and honestly who needs retail therapy on turkey day anyway? my kids would rather be playing outside or watching a movie than fighting for discounted TVs πŸ“Ί just sayin

I gotta say, I'm kinda mixed about this whole Thanksgiving thing... like, on one hand, who doesn't love getting some early bird deals or a head start on holiday shopping? πŸ€” But, on the other hand, don't you think it's kinda rude to expect people to work (or shop) on a day when most of us are trying to relax and enjoy time with our families? πŸ˜• I mean, shouldn't stores be closed so we can focus on what really matters? And, at the same time... like, if you're all about that retail therapy life, then why not take advantage of it while you can? πŸ›οΈ It's just confusing, you know? Some stores are being super generous and accommodating, while others are choosing to stay closed. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out... πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I'm so done with people making a big deal about stores being open on Thanksgiving! Can't they just chill for one day? It's not like it's a national holiday or anything πŸ™„. I mean, I get that some people want to do some shopping before or after the turkey dinner, but can't they just plan around that instead of expecting everyone else to accommodate them?

And what's up with the inconsistency? One store is open from 6 am to 12 pm and another one is open until 9 pm. Can't we all just have a standard holiday schedule for once? It's like, hello, it's Thanksgiving Day! Let people enjoy their food and family time without having to deal with crowds and lines.

I'm not saying I hate Black Friday or anything (although I do think it's kind of ridiculous), but can't we find a better way to celebrate the holiday season than by fighting for parking spots at 5 am? πŸš—πŸ’¨

I'm kinda bummed that some of these big chains are still trying to cash in on Turkey Day πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, don't get me wrong, who doesn't love a good shopping spree? But can't they see how exhausting it is for people to try to squeeze in work and family time during the holidays? And honestly, some of these stores are taking advantage of the fact that we're all already on edge with family gatherings and whatnot πŸ™„. I'm looking at you, Target! Closing up shop on Thanksgiving and then reopening the next day is just a nice way of saying "we don't trust our employees to take a break"... and honestly, I kinda get it. People need their retail therapy, but let's not forget about self-care too 😴.

By the way, I'm so over this whole Black Friday thing 🚫. It's like, can't we just have one day where everyone's free to do whatever they want without feeling pressured to spend a gazillion bucks? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
