We put the new pocket-size vinyl format to the test—with mixed results

Tiny Vinyl, a new miniature vinyl single format, has been released in the market. The 4-inch singles are pressed using a process nearly identical to standard 12-inch LPs or 7-inch singles. They have a standard-size spindle hole and play at 33⅓ RPM, holding up to four minutes of music per side.

The reviewer tested several Tiny Vinyl releases on manual turntables, such as the Audio Technica LP-120 and the Crosley suitcase-style turntable, which features an Audio Technica AT3600L cartridge. The tonearm was placed manually, allowing for precise control over the stylus's position, resulting in a better sound quality.

However, automatic turntables cannot play Tiny Vinyl records due to their limited capacity to adjust the stylus at smaller sizes. As a result, casual listeners may find the experience of playing standard vinyl records lacking with this format, as the manual placement of the tonearm can be challenging for some users.

Despite its limitations, Tiny Vinyl offers several benefits, including its compact size, reduced resource usage, and visually appealing gatefold jacket designs. The price is also a point of contention, as it's not significantly lower than typical 7-inch singles.

Overall, Tiny Vinyl may appeal to casual listeners who value the aesthetic of vinyl records but don't require high-quality sound. However, serious collectors and audiophiles may be deterred by the compromised sound quality and lack of compatibility with automatic turntables.

🎶 I gotta say, this tiny vinyl single thingy is like a big lesson in balance, ya know? We're all about the aesthetics, right? But sometimes we gotta look beyond that pretty cover art or compact size... it's about the vibe you get from the music itself 🎵. If it's not giving you the good stuff, then what's the point, fam? The fact that serious collectors and audiophiles are gonna be left out in the cold because of this is like a big wake-up call. It's all about finding your own groove and being okay with what others might think is "good enough" 😊

I think it's kinda cool that Tiny Vinyl is giving vinyl a mini-makeover 🎸💖 I mean, who doesn't love the feel of holding a record in their hands? The gatefold jackets are straight fire 🔥, and I can see why some people would want to collect them. But for the price, I'd expect something more...like, 50% off 😅. And yeah, the sound quality might not be as good on an auto-turntable, but if you're gonna do it right, manual is the way to go 🎶💪

ugh, tiny vinyls are a thing now 🤦‍♂️ they're like 4 inches big, which is kinda small considering it's still gotta play at the same speed as regular records. i mean, if u need to put in extra effort just to get decent sound quality, what's the point? and don't even get me started on how expensive they are... price-wise, they're not even that much cheaper than those standard 7-inch singles ppl love so much. maybe it's just a novelty for some collectors or ppl who care more about the aesthetic of vinyls than actual sound quality 🎶

I gotta say... I think these 4-inch Tiny Vinyl singles are kinda cool! 🤔 They're like a mini-me version of our standard vinyls, but with some awesome benefits. First off, the fact that they're so small is genius - it makes them perfect for collecting and storing in your record box without taking up too much space. Plus, the gatefold jacket designs are straight fire! 🎨 But what really catches my attention is how Tiny Vinyl is trying to reduce our carbon footprint by using less material overall. It's all about sustainability, you know?

Now, I do think the sound quality might be a bit of a letdown for some folks, especially if they're used to listening on high-end gear. And yeah, it can be a bit tricky to play them on automatic turntables - I mean, who needs that much precision control? 😂 But for casual listeners who just wanna enjoy their tunes in a cool way, Tiny Vinyl is still a winner.

One thing that's got me wondering though... what's next? Are we gonna see these tiny records become the new standard or will they fade into obscurity? 🤷‍♀️ Only time'll tell!

I mean, I've heard people saying that Tiny Vinyl is a total game-changer for music enthusiasts, but honestly, who needs all that fuss about 4-inch records? It's just a tiny vinyl single, it's not like it's gonna revolutionize the way we listen to music or anything 🤷‍♂️. And don't even get me started on how some people are actually willing to pay more for these than regular 7-inches... like, what's up with that? They're just a novelty, a gimmick. Mark my words, this whole Tiny Vinyl craze will be over in a year and we'll all be back to our trusty old LPs 🎸.

OMG, I'm so down for this new Tiny Vinyl thing 🤩! I mean, who doesn't love the aesthetic of vinyl records? The compact size is a major win, too - it's like they're saying, "Hey, you don't need a whole room to be a music lover!" 😂 And those gatefold jackets are straight fire 🔥. My only gripe is that the price can be kinda steep, but hey, if it's worth it for the vinyl vibes, I say go for it! I'm all about supporting artists and collectors who care about the experience, even if it means paying a bit more 💸. And let's be real, some of us don't need crazy sound quality to enjoy our faves - sometimes it's all about the nostalgia and feel-good factor 🎶.

I'm tellin' ya, back in my day we used to have these 7-inch singles and they were always a pain to play on our old record players 🎧. Now this Tiny Vinyl thingy comes along and it's like they're tryin' to make music more accessible or somethin' 🤔. I mean, the sound quality might not be as good as my old records, but at least you can take 'em anywhere in a compact case 💼. And let's be real, who needs all that fancy equipment just to play music on vinyl? Just give me a decent pair of headphones and I'm set 🎧👍. The price is a bit steep for what you get, but I guess it's better than goin' back to CDs or somethin' 😂. Anyway, it's not for me, but hey, if it appeals to the younger folks and they want to collect 'em like crazy, then more power to 'em 💪!

omg you know i just got my hands on one of these tiny vinyl singles and it's literally so cute 🤩 i mean the design is insane, gatefold jackets are all the rage now 🎨 but i have to say playing it back sounds kinda...meh? i used my old record player and it was fine, nothing special. but if you're someone who just likes the aesthetic of vinyl and doesn't care about the sound quality, then this might be the thing for you 💖

I'm low-key excited about this Tiny Vinyl thing 🤩! I mean, who wouldn't want to own a miniature vinyl single that's basically a toy? But for real though, it's kinda cool how they managed to press these tiny records using the same process as our regular 12-inch LPs. The design on the gatefold jacket is fire 🔥, and it's great that it comes in compact size so we can take them with us wherever we go! 👍

But, I gotta say, if you're an audiophile like my buddy from Stranger Things 🎧, you might wanna think twice before shelling out cash for these. The sound quality is gonna be compromised, and the lack of compatibility with auto-turntables is a bummer 💔. Still, I think Tiny Vinyl could be a great option for casual listeners who just want to collect some cool-looking records without breaking the bank 🤑

I'm not sold on these mini vinyl singles yet 🤔 They're like a novelty, I guess. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to make something that's basically just a smaller 7-inch? It's all about the aesthetics, right? The gatefold jacket designs look sick tho 💀 And yeah, it's super convenient for people who want that vinyl feel without breaking the bank. But for me, if I'm gonna shell out cash for vinyl, I need it to sound good too 🎵 Unfortunately, I've heard some pretty mixed reviews on these Tiny Vinyls and I don't know if they're worth it. Maybe the casual listeners will get a kick out of 'em?

omg u gotta check out tiny vinyl!!! 🤩 they're like mini vinyls that are only 4 inches in diameter but still press 'em up on the same machines as standard lp's lol what's not to love about that?! compact, eco-friendly, and so visually gorgeous with those gatefold jackets! i mean sure there is a bit of a compromise on sound quality and they don't work on auto turntables 🤯 but if u're all about the aesthetic then tiny vinyl is def worth checking out!

I'm not sure about this Tiny Vinyl thing... it's like they're trying to cater to everyone, but maybe they've missed the point 🤔. I mean, the sound quality is only okay if you're super into manual tweaking on your turntable. For me, it's more hassle than it's worth. And the price? It's still pretty steep for what you get. But hey, if you're a casual listener who just wants to show off their collection and don't care about actual sound quality, then maybe Tiny Vinyl is the way to go 🎉. I'd rather have a normal-sized record player that can handle 12-inch LPs any day! 😐

Omg I'm so down for tiny vinyls 🤩! They're like mini versions of my fave albums, perfect for when I wanna listen to a single track without committing to a whole album on my shelf 📚. But gotta say, the auto turntables are gonna be super limiting for me 😒. Can't play it with just any record player? That's like having a super cool car but only being able to drive it on certain roads 🚗. Still, I think they're cute and I love the gatefold designs 💖! Might not replace my 12-inch LPs or anything, but for a quick listen, tiny vinyls are def worth it 👍

Ugh I'm so over the complexity of these new formats 🤦‍♂️ Tiny Vinyl is just a miniature version of everything we already have... 4-inch singles, spindle hole, 33⅓ RPM, yadda yadda... and what's the point? It's still vinyl, it's gonna get scratched or warped. And don't even get me started on the gatefold jacket designs, they're just a novelty 🙄 But seriously, who makes these things? Can't we just have one format that works with all turntables? The price is another joke, I mean I love a good vinyl as much as the next person but come on $20 for a 4-inch single? That's just ridiculous 💸
