Hong Kong Fires: K-Pop Stars, Labels & Fans Raise Thousands For Aid

K-Pop Stars Rally Behind Hong Kong in Wake of Deadly Apartment Fire, Raise Thousands for Aid Efforts.

In the wake of one of the deadliest residential fires in Hong Kong's history, a group of K-pop stars, labels, and fan communities are banding together to raise thousands of dollars for those affected. The fire, which ravaged seven buildings in the Tai Po district, has claimed at least 94 lives and left over 200 missing.

The disaster has sparked an outpouring of support from the Korean entertainment industry, with many artists donating significant sums to emergency response efforts. HYBE Music Labels APAC, representing labels like BTS and ZICO, has donated a whopping HK$2.65 million (approximately US$341,000), while JYP Entertainment, home to TWICE and Stray Kids, has chipped in with HK$2 million.

Other notable donations include HK$1 million from China's Fosun Foundation, which was contributed by i-dle, as well as HK$1 million each from groups like Super Junior and Stray Kids. Major artists like Jackson Wang and Lay Zhang have also donated, with the latter contributing 1 million Chinese yuan (approximately US$141,235).

But it's not just K-pop stars who are getting involved - fan communities around the world for stars like BLACKPINK's Jisoo and SEVENTEEN's Mingyu have made significant contributions to support Hong Kong during its time of need.

The disaster has also brought together other Asian entertainment figures, including MIRROR and Esther Kwan. The 2025 MAMA Awards ceremony in Hong Kong has been modified to include a "Support Hong Kong" message, with organizers canceling the red carpet event where groups like TWS and KickFlip were set to perform.

As the situation continues to unfold, it's clear that the global K-pop community is once again demonstrating its ability to mobilize quickly and at scale when crisis strikes. The outpouring of support will undoubtedly bring some measure of comfort and hope to those affected by this devastating tragedy.

πŸŒŸπŸ’– This is literally amazing to see K-pop stars, labels & fans coming together like this 🀝. 🀝 I gotta say, it's amazing to see how the K-pop world is rallying around Hong Kong right now! πŸ’– Those donations are huge, like HK$2.65 million from HYBE Music Labels APAC alone - that's a lot of love for the people of Hong Kong 🌸. It's also cool to see fan communities around the world chipping in too, even if they're not K-pop fans themselves. I mean, can you imagine if more Western artists were doing this kind of thing? πŸ€” The MAMA Awards ceremony changing its message is a great idea too - it shows that these artists are all about using their platform for good 🌟. One thing though, what's with the amount of donations coming from other Asian labels like Fosun Foundation? Shouldn't they be contributing more considering Hong Kong is practically next door to China πŸ€”. Just saying... πŸ’‘

πŸ™πŸŒŸ It's so heartwarming to see the K-pop world come together like this! And I love how fan communities are also getting involved - it just goes to show that K-pop fandom is more than just about the music (although, let's be real, that's a big part of it 😊).
