Arsenal triumphant as Liverpool's crisis deepens: Football Weekly Extra – video

Arsenal's resurgence continues, while Liverpool's woes mount. In a weekend that saw two Premier League heavyweights clash, the Gunners emerged victorious, cementing their position in the top-four.

The match at the Emirates Stadium was a stark contrast to recent performances, with Mikel Arteta's side displaying a level of cohesion and firepower that has been lacking in recent weeks. A clinical display from Arsenal saw them dismantle Liverpool's defense, with goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli securing a 2-0 win.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's struggles continued unabated. Jurgen Klopp's team looked listless and disjointed, unable to contain the pace and precision of their opponents. The Reds' inability to score was particularly telling, as they were unable to break down Arsenal's resolute defense despite being awarded numerous chances.

The win for Arsenal marked a significant shift in momentum for the Gunners, who have now moved ahead of their North London rivals Tottenham in the table. However, Arteta and his team will be keenly aware that the top-four is far from secure, with Chelsea and West Ham also vying for a spot.

In contrast, Liverpool's plight has deepened. The Reds' failure to find consistency in front of goal raises serious questions about their ability to compete at the highest level. With a mounting injury list and a lack of creativity in attack, Klopp's team looks increasingly vulnerable. As the season wears on, it remains to be seen whether the Reds can stem the tide and rediscover their form.

The result has significant implications for both teams' respective title hopes. For Arsenal, the win is a vital confidence booster as they push for European qualification. Meanwhile, for Liverpool, it's a stark reminder of just how far off the pace they are – and just how much work remains to be done if they're to reclaim their status as Premier League giants.

I'm not convinced this Arsenal resurgence is real yet 🤔. They got lucky against Liverpool, plain and simple. That one goal from Saka can happen in a million different games, you know? And what about the rest of the season? Can they keep up this pace? I don't think so. Their squad's still got some major holes in it, especially in defense 🚨. They're just riding a hot streak and that's gonna come crashing down sooner or later.

omg dont think arsenal is gonna finish top 4 with that team lol 😂 mikel arteta needs to sort out his defense ASAP, that gabriel guy was a savior today 🙌 but seriously lfc needs a major overhaul, jurgen klopp cant save them on his own anymore 🤦‍♂️ maybe its time for him to take a break or something 😴

man this liverpool team is falling apart 🤕💔 they cant even score against arsenal? what kinda squad building is that? 💸 2-0 win for arsenal, but its not like they played that well, they just outmuscled them, doesnt exactly fill me with confidence 😐

arsenal on the other hand are looking good, top-four spot secured and all that jazz, but dont think they're safe yet 🤔 chelsea and west ham are still chasing them, so we'll see how it plays out. still, 2 goals from saka and martinelli isnt too shabby 😊

omg i'm loving the resurgence of arsenal 🤩! mikel arteta's tactics were spot on and bukayo saka & gabriel martinelli were on fire 🔥! it's been a while since we've seen them play like that, so here's to many more wins for the gunners 💪. on the other hand, liverpool just can't seem to get out of their own way 😔. jurgen klopp needs to sort out their attack ASAP or else they'll be dropped down the table 📉. this win is a huge confidence booster for arsenal and i'm excited to see how they finish out the season 🎉

I'm not getting the hype around Arsenal's resurgence 😐. I mean, don't get me wrong, beating Liverpool 2-0 is no joke, but have you seen their squad? It's like they're just patching things together with whatever scraps they can find 🤔. And what about their defense? That's still pretty suspect ⚽️. Liverpool might be struggling, but at least they've got a talented squad and Klopp's trying to fix the problem – he's not giving up 🔥. Meanwhile, Arsenal just seems to be coasting on fumes 💨. I'm still not convinced they can stay in the top-four 🤔

Ugh, I'm loving this Arsenal resurgence 🤩! They've finally got their act together and are looking like a top-four team again 💪. That Liverpool match was insane - Mikel Arteta's tactics clearly paid off and the goals were just clinical 🔴⚽️. Meanwhile, Klopp's gotta figure out what's going on with that attack... it's like they're stuck in neutral 🔄. Chelsea and West Ham are looking fierce too, so this top-four spot won't be a breeze for Arsenal... but I've got faith in Arteta and the team 🤞. We might see an epic battle for European spots this season ⚔️!

🏟️ So this is what happens when you give a team like Arsenal a chance to regroup and refocus... they come out swinging 🔥👊. It's like Klopp said, "You can't just sit on the sidelines and expect results" 🙄. But seriously though, Liverpool's problems run way deeper than just not scoring goals. They've got injuries piling up and their attack is as dry as the Thames in winter ❄️. Meanwhile, Arsenal's resurgence is a masterclass in teamwork and strategy 👏. Arteta's men are starting to look like the real deal now 💪. And let's be real, if Liverpool can't get their act together, Chelsea and West Ham will be right on their heels 🚨💥. This top-four spot isn't going to hand itself over, folks... 💼

Ugh, gotta tell you, this Arsenal win is a total letdown for Liverpool 🤕...I mean, they've been playing so inconsistently all season, it's crazy they can't even beat a team that's not exactly firing on all cylinders 😒. And to think Klopp's got the nerve to be talking about his squad being "injury prone"...like that's something new? 🙄. Meanwhile, Arsenal just looks like they're peaking at the right time...and with Chelsea and West Ham breathing down their necks, you gotta wonder if this top-four thing is gonna slip through their fingers again 😬. Just a really annoying development for the Reds...can't wait to see how it all plays out 🤔.

I'm loving this resurgence from Arsenal! They've been through some tough times recently, but Mikel Arteta's team is finally starting to gel 🌟. That win over Liverpool was a big statement, and it shows that the Gunners are capable of taking on the best teams in the league. Meanwhile, I feel sorry for Klopp and his guys at Liverpool - they just can't seem to catch a break right now 😔. The injury list is killing them, and their attack just isn't clicking like it used to. It's gonna be tough for them to get back into title contention, but you never know in the Premier League! One question though, what's going on with Tottenham? If Arsenal are moving ahead of them in the table, it must mean Spurs are having some major issues 🤔
