A stray bullet wounded a 64-year-old woman while she was walking through the streets of Inwood, Upper Manhattan, sending her to Harlem Hospital. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday when the woman claimed to have seen a group of young people nearby, according to police.
One of these individuals allegedly fired a 9mm round in the direction of the woman, striking her in the left buttock. Witnesses reported that the shooter fled southbound on Broadway after firing the shot. The victim was taken into stable condition at Harlem Hospital and is currently receiving medical attention.
As for the alleged shooter, police are still investigating the incident and have yet to make any arrests. This marks the latest example of gun violence in a neighborhood that has seen a significant decrease in shootings this year compared to last.
