Mount's sweet strike completes Manchester United's comeback win at Crystal Palace

Manchester United came from behind to snatch a thrilling 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, ending their five-year wait for a home victory and moving above the Eagles into seventh place in the Premier League table.

A rampant start by Palace, led by Adam Wharton's pinpoint accurate corner kicks, had them on the front foot, but United slowly began to gain momentum after half-time. Jean-Philippe Mateta's penalty gave Palace the lead just before halftime, but the visitors sensed an opportunity and came out strong in the second half.

Joshua Zirkzee equalised with a stunning strike from distance eight minutes into the restart, and Mason Mount sealed the win nine minutes later with a powerful drive that showcased United's renewed intensity. The Palace defense was breached twice by set pieces, and manager Ruben Amorim will be frustrated at his side's inability to convert their dominance into goals.

Palace were left to rue missed chances, particularly when Eddie Nketiah should have scored from a clear cut opportunity just before the break. Dean Henderson's point-blank save on Casemiro in the opening minutes set the tone for an eventful game.

The Eagles' frustration grew as United capitalized on Palace's mistakes, and Amorim was left to wonder how his side contrived to lose after such a dominant first half. With IsmaΓ―la Sarr limping off with an ankle injury before halftime, Palace's chances of extending their unbeaten run were severely diminished.

For Ruben Amorim and Manchester United, the win marked a welcome turnaround after a disastrous defeat against 10-man Everton last Monday. The victory could prove to be a turning point for United, who move above Palace into seventh place in the Premier League table.

Ugh, I'm literally so confused about this game... I mean, Palace had them right where they wanted them, all that corner kick action and stuff, but then Manchester United just... started playing 🀯 And Mateta's penalty was like, super solid, no worries 😊. But, wait a minute... Zirkzee scores and it's like, whoa! πŸ”₯ I'm going back on myself here, I know, but Palace should've taken those chances, right? Nketiah's miss is just... ugh, how do you even miss that? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, United wins and they're all happy now πŸ’ͺ. But seriously, it was a wild game and both teams deserved to win, I guess? 😐

Omg I'm so hyped about this comeback by Man Utd!!! They totally deserved that win, especially after being down at halftime πŸ˜‚. Palace was on fire in the first half but Man Utd's bench tweaks seemed to pay off in the second half. That goal from Zirkzee was insane! 🀯 And Mount's strike was so powerful! πŸ’ͺ The Palace defense was all over the place, especially with set pieces. I'm surprised they didn't score more goals considering how dominant they were in the first half πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Dean Henderson is having a great game as always πŸ™Œ. Anyway, this win is a huge boost for Man Utd and Ruben Amorim will be glad to get back on track after that Everton loss 😊.

lol what's up with Palace's set piece defense tho? they can't even deal with a corner kick πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ it's like they're begging for goals 🚨 they should've been out by 5 already, not having a bad half that's just frustrating πŸ˜’ dean henderson is a god at point-blank saves btw πŸ‘

πŸ™ Can you believe Palace came so close to beating United at home? I mean, they were on fire in that first half, especially with those accurate corner kicks by Adam Wharton... 🀯

But United showed their claws in the second half, didn't they? Joshua Zirkzee's goal was insane! 😲 And Mason Mount's winner just sealed the deal for them. You can tell Manchester United are really hungry for wins now.

It's also got to be frustrating for Palace that they missed out on those clear chances... Eddie Nketiah should've scored for sure πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Dean Henderson made some awesome saves, too! πŸ‘

I guess that win for United will give them a boost going forward. They need all the wins they can get if they wanna stay competitive this season. πŸ’ͺ

I'm not convinced about this whole Premier League revolution. I mean, come on, 2-1? It's just a fluke! Palace had them right where they wanted them, and then Manchester United just... got lucky? πŸ˜’ That penalty by Mateta was a total giveaway – what was Palace thinking? And don't even get me started on the corner kicks. I'm sure it's not that hard to defend against.

And have you seen the state of their defense lately? Breached twice by set pieces? That's just not good enough. Dean Henderson made some decent saves, but at the end of the day, Palace should've been out of sight by halftime. This win for Manchester United is more about their opponents' mistakes than anything they actually did well.

I'll believe it when I see it – a consistent performance from these guys before I start singing their praises. πŸ€”

lol what's going on with palace rn? they had it all in the first half but just couldn't finish chances. dey were so dominant, i get it, but u gotta capitalize when u r in control 🀯. and yikes for amorim, dat penalty just before halftime was a major miss πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. zirkzee's equaliser was insane tho! 😲 mount's goal at the end was like the icing on the cake. glad man utd got back to winning ways πŸ’ͺ, now dey need to keep dis momentum going πŸ‘Š

πŸ€” i think palace just didn't capitalize on those chances they had before halftime πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ eddie nketiah is one of their top scorers and he just missed it plain and simple 😩 dean henderson is a top goalie and he saved that clear cut chance from casemiro, but still palace's defense just fell apart 🀯 mason mount is on fire atm πŸ’₯

.. think Palace should really work on their set piece defending πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. those two goals were pure luck πŸ˜…. and yeah, Dean Henderson's save on Casemiro was huge πŸ’₯. Palace had 'em in the bag after that penalty but couldn't finish it off. guess that's what happens when you're relying too much on set pieces πŸ“š. anyway, glad United got the win, it looks like they're finally finding some form ⚽️.
