Paquetá launches outburst at football authorities after West Ham red against Liverpool

Lucas Paquetá, the Brazilian midfielder who plays for West Ham, has launched a scathing attack on football authorities after being given a red card in his side's 2-0 defeat by Liverpool. In an online outburst, Paquetá claimed that he was not provided with adequate psychological support during the two-year investigation into spot-fixing allegations that stalled his proposed £70m move to Manchester City.

Paquetá's comments came after he was shown two yellow cards for dissent in quick succession, leading to his dismissal. The 28-year-old had initially apologized for his behavior on social media, saying it didn't justify his expulsion and acknowledging that he would continue to try to cope with the emotional toll of the situation.

However, Paquetá took his grievances further when responding to a post by Sky Sports Premier League, which referred to his red card as "ridiculous behaviour". In this response, Paquetá wrote in English for the first time: "It's ridiculous to have your life and career affected for two years without any psychological support from the federation. Perhaps this ridiculous behaviour is just a reflection of everything I've had to endure and, it seems, have to continue enduring!"

The comments from Paquetá have sparked criticism from West Ham coach Nuno Espírito Santo, who expressed frustration at being unable to comment on the situation due to his side's circumstances. "It's hard to play against a team like Liverpool with one man less," he said. "I will not go much further on comments of the situation – I hope you understand."

Paquetá's behavior has raised questions about the mental health support available to footballers, particularly those who have been through traumatic experiences such as his spot-fixing allegations. As he continues to navigate the fallout from his dismissal, it remains to be seen whether Paquetá will receive the level of psychological support that he feels is essential for his well-being.

OMG 😱 this dude is going through so much & nobody is even giving him the mental health support he needs?! 🤯 I mean, two years of investigation and no help? That's not fair at all! 🙅‍♂️ West Ham's coach is trying to stay neutral but I feel for Nuno, his frustration is totally justified 😩. And what's with the federation not providing psychological support? They're supposed to be looking out for the players' well-being, not just focusing on rules & discipline 🤷‍♂️. Lucas needs help ASAP, this isn't fair to him or his career 💔

I think Paquetá's outburst is a cry for help 🤔. It's clear that he's struggling with the emotional toll of being investigated and then dealt with by the authorities, especially without any support 🤷‍♂️. Football can be a high-pressure environment already, and when you add in allegations like spot-fixing, it can take a massive hit to your mental health 😬.

The fact that he's now speaking out about his experiences is a good thing, as it sheds light on the issue 📊. However, I hope he gets the support he needs from his team, federation, and even individual sponsors who might be able to offer him some financial assistance 💸. It's not just about Paquetá himself, but also how this can change the conversation around mental health in football 🏈.

😱🤕 this is so unfair 🙄 paq's been through enough 😩 and they just ignored him 💔 all these yrs 👀 no mental health support 🤯 and now he's being penalized 😒 70m pound move too 😢 what if he had a breakdown? 🚨 would his career be over? 🤷‍♂️ at least he spoke out 🗣️ hope his team & federation listen 💡 👍

🤔 I'm kinda torn about this one... on one hand, you've got Lucas Paquetá pouring his heart out about how he felt utterly unsupported during a super tough time in his life, and it's hard to blame him for speaking up 🙅‍♂️. But at the same time, the fact that he was given two yellow cards for dissent seems like pretty standard behavior... maybe not worth getting so fired up over? 😬 And what's with West Ham coach Nuno Espírito Santo just being all tight-lipped about it? Did he just not know how to respond? 🤷‍♂️ Or is he trying to keep the peace? Either way, I think this whole situation raises some important questions about mental health support in football 🏆

I'm not surprised by Lucas Paquetá's outburst... I mean, who wouldn't be after going through a 2-year investigation with no mental health support? 🤯 It's unacceptable that the federation didn't provide him with any resources to cope with the emotional toll of the situation. And now he's facing the consequences on the pitch... it's like they're asking him to just "toughen up". 😒 I think we need to have a serious conversation about the mental health support available to footballers, especially those who've been through traumatic experiences. Paquetá's behavior is not ridiculous, it's a cry for help! 👊

I'm not sure I buy into all this fuss about Lucas Paquetá's red card drama... 🤔 Still, I think it's fair to say that he's got a point about the mental health support available to footballers. It seems like these players are expected to perform under intense pressure without any proper support system in place. I mean, two years of investigation and no psychological help? That's some serious neglect! 🙄 As for Paquetá's behavior, yeah, maybe he got a bit heated, but come on, it's football... 💥 Still, I'm curious to see how this whole situation plays out. Will he get the support he needs, or will he be left to deal with his demons on his own? 🤷‍♂️ Only time will tell, I suppose... 👀

I'm so confused why he got two yellow cards and still got sent off 🤔. Like, what's going on with the refs lately? 😂 And now he's saying that the federation didn't provide him with any help after being accused of spot-fixing? That's a pretty big deal 🤑. It feels like all these footballers are just getting more and more stressed out without anyone really helping them 💔. I mean, who decides what's "ridiculous behaviour" anyway? 🤷‍♂️ Shouldn't we be supporting each other instead of penalizing people for being emotional? 🤗 And what about the £70m move that got stalled due to all this drama? That's a lot of money lost 💸. Is it really worth it if Paquetá doesn't get the help he needs? 🤔

omg yall gotta talk about lucas paquetá's outburst 🤯 he's been through so much with those spot-fixing allegations and now the football authorities just leave him high & dry? no mental health support, no nothing... it's ridiculous! 💔 i mean west ham coach nuno is trying to stay out of it but come on, can't he just acknowledge that paquetá needs help? 🤷‍♂️ this is a big issue and we need to start talking about it more. footballers' mental health matters, you know? 🤗

omg this is wild! lucas paquetá's outburst is low-key a cry for help 🤕👊 i feel like he's right, though - two years is way too long to not get any mental health support after being accused of spot-fixing. it's no wonder he's still dealing with emotional trauma 🤯 west ham should've had his back more, tbh 😒 nuno espírito santo's trying to stay calm but i can sense the frustration there 😬

🤔 I'm not surprised at all that Lucas Paquetá is going off on a rant about not getting proper mental health support after being given a red card and losing his chance to move to Manchester City. Like, it's a pretty obvious setup for drama. And of course, now the West Ham coach is playing dumb, saying he can't comment because they're dealing with their own stuff... yeah right 🙄. I bet Paquetá's just trying to shift attention away from his own bad behavior and onto everyone else. Newsflash, Lucas: your spot-fixing allegations are still a thing, even if you didn't get the support you wanted. You can't just sweep it under the rug because you're feeling a little sad 🤷‍♂️.

omg this lucas paqueta dude r goin thru so much rn 🤯 i feel 4 him really he got dealt a tough hand w/ the spot-fixing allegations & no1's doin enuf to help him out 👎 u gotta wonder what it's like 2 b in his shoes, dealin w/ all that emotional drama 🤕 nuno espírito santo's tryin 2 stay neutral but i get why he's frustrated 😩 football needs 2 do better 4 its players' mental health 🙏

😐 I feel so bad for this guy, Paquetá's just trying to express how messed up things are for him and we're all just standing here watching and cringing 🤦‍♂️. He's right though, two years without any psychological support is mental 🤯. As a fan of West Ham, I love Nuno Espírito Santo but come on, he can't keep it to himself, we need to know what's really going on 🙏. Footballers are human beings too, they go through trauma and stress just like the rest of us 🤝. We should be supporting Paquetá in getting the help he needs rather than criticizing him for speaking out 💕.

This whole situation with Paquetá is just so wild 🤯. I mean, I feel bad for the guy, being given a red card like that and all, but at the same time, 2 years without any psychological support? That's crazy talk 😲. I guess what it says to me is that football authorities aren't exactly equipped to handle these kinds of things. They're just kinda... winging it, you know? 🤷‍♂️ But Paquetá's right in one way - mental health is everything for these guys. You can't just tune it off and expect them to perform at their best. That's not a sustainable model, if you ask me 💔.
