Aladdie review – rags to riches panto is a merry, magical ride

Aladdin's panto adaptation in Maybole has proven to be a box office smash with audiences of all ages entertained by its lighthearted take on the classic tale. At the heart of this joyous production is Ciara Flynn's breakout performance as Alassie, Abanazar's feisty and charming sister.

The show begins innocently enough, with Fraser Boyle's Abanazar - a comically inept baddie - attempting to use his magic lamp to get rich quick. However, his hare-brained schemes quickly spiral out of control, rendering him almost powerless. Meanwhile, the spirited Princess Destiny (Mia Musakambeva) and her business-savvy approach to life offer a refreshing contrast to Aladdin's (Lewis Kerr) naivety about wealth.

While Boyle shines as the adaptable dame who effortlessly shifts between various roles, Flynn steals the show with her effervescent charm and comedic timing. Her Alassie is an absolute scene-stealer, delighting audiences with its snarky one-liners and impressive vocal range. The actress's portrayal of the character brings a modern spin to the classic tale, making it relatable for both old and young.

Tom Cooper's production also deserves praise for its creative blend of tradition and originality. With clever nods to 70s disco and Tom Lehrer's wit, the show is an entertaining romp that pays homage to the panto genre while staying true to its own unique voice. The set design, while not overly elaborate, provides a colorful backdrop for the story to unfold.

In short, this Aladdin adaptation has it all: laughter, excitement, and a healthy dose of satire on wealth and privilege. Don't miss out on the chance to experience the magic for yourself.

OMG 🤩, I was at the Maybole panto and it was honestly one of the best ones I've seen in ages! Ciara Flynn as Alassie is EVERYTHING 💁‍♀️, her energy is infectious and she totally owns that stage. The whole cast is great but Fraser Boyle's Abanazar has some seriously funny moments 😂. Tom Cooper's production is really clever, it's like a modern take on the classic panto with a bit of satire thrown in for good measure 🤣. I loved the disco vibes and the way they wove in all these Easter eggs. And Mia Musakambeva as Princess Destiny is so refreshing, she brings this smart and sassy vibe that balances out Aladdin's antics perfectly 💖. Can't wait to see what the rest of the tour has in store! 👏

I was just watching an old vid of Britney Spears performing 'Toxic' 🎤 and it got me thinking about how much I love 90s pop music 🙃. There's just something about the energy and the style that still holds up today, don't you think? 😊 Anyway, back to panto... have you guys ever been to a pantomime performance before? I've always wanted to try it out, but I've never really understood the appeal of wearing silly shoes 🤣. Maybe I just need to experience it for myself! 👠

OMG, I'm so down for that panto adaptation 🤣! Ciara Flynn is killing it as Alassie 😂👏 and her character's sassiness is giving me life 💁‍♀️! The show sounds like a total riot with its blend of tradition and originality - I love how they're paying homage to the panto genre while still bringing their own unique spin 🎉. The set design looks so colorful and fun, and I'm all about that 70s disco vibe 💃🏻! Fraser Boyle is hilarious as Abanazar and Mia Musakambeva's Princess Destiny sounds like a total boss 💁‍♀️. Can't wait to check this out when it comes around in Maybole 🎟️!

🎭 just saw this aladdin panto in maybole and tbh I was blown away by ciara flynn's performance as alassie 🤩 her energy is infectious and she absolutely killed it with those one-liners 😂 the whole production was so well done, loved the mix of tradition and originality, it felt like they really put their own spin on the classic tale 💡 and the set design was super colorful and fun!

🎭 I loved how they put their own spin on the classic tale 🤣, especially with Alassie's sassy personality 😂, it was like she was straight out of a modern sitcom 👀! The whole cast was great, but I think Flynn really shone as the scene-stealing sidekick 💫. And the production values were on point too - the set design was so colorful and fun 🌈! It's amazing how they could make a traditional panto feel fresh and exciting again 🎉. If you haven't seen it yet, definitely check it out before it's gone 🕰️! 👍

🎭 I'm absolutely loving the set design in this Aladdin panto adaptation 🤩! The 70s disco vibes are so on point, it's like stepping into a time capsule ✨. But what really got me excited was how they balanced traditional elements with modern twists 💡. It's not every day you see panto done in such a fresh and clever way 😊. And Ciara Flynn absolutely killed it as Alassie, her comedic timing had me laughing out loud 🤣! The whole production has a great energy to it, I can already imagine how much fun the audience must have been having 👏

This panto sounds like so much fun 🤩! I'm loving that they're giving Alassie some serious spotlight time - her sass is the real MVP 😂. And can we talk about Fraser Boyle's Abanazar? Like, what a genius move to make him a comically inept villain - it's just genius 💡. The 70s disco vibes are also a great touch, adding an extra layer of quirkiness to the show 🎉. I'm definitely getting myself tickets for this one 👍!

I'm totally stoked about this Aladdin panto adaptation in Maybole 🤩! The cast is absolutely on point, especially Ciara Flynn as Alassie - she's got some serious comedic chops 💁‍♀️. I loved how the show blended traditional panto elements with modern wit and satire, it's like a breath of fresh air. And that set design? Super colorful and fun 🎨! The only thing that would make this show perfect is if they did a sequel with some of the supporting characters getting their own solo moments 👀. Overall, though, I think this adaptation is a must-see for anyone who loves a good laugh or just wants to get into the holiday spirit 🎄.

🎭👏 I gotta say, this Aladdin panto sounds like so much fun! The fact that Ciara Flynn's character Alassie steals the show is no surprise - she seems like a scene-stealer with her charm and comedic timing 🤣. But what really got me was how the show balances tradition with originality, adding some clever 70s disco vibes to the mix 🎵. The set design might be simple, but it looks super colorful and engaging! 🌈 Overall, I'd say this is a must-see for anyone looking for a lighthearted, entertaining night out with friends 👫👭.
