Ashes 2025-26: Will Jacks in England team for second Test

England has picked Will Jacks to face Australia in the second Ashes Test, replacing injured pace bowler Mark Wood.

The 27-year-old Surrey all-rounder takes on the role of a spin option for England, with off-spinner Shoaib Bashir omitted from the squad despite being fit.

Australia opener Usman Khawaja has been ruled out due to back spasms, while Travis Head is set to continue opening the batting. The home side have also left room for a potential return by captain Pat Cummins.

Jacks has played just three first-class matches this year and will aim to make an impact with his unique spin bowling skills on the pink ball of day-night Tests, which are perceived to favor fast bowlers.

just saw that england picked will jacks to face australia in 2nd ashes test lol what a wild card move ๐Ÿคฏ he's basically an unknown quantity out there but i guess they needed someone with spin options, and jacks seems like the perfect fit ๐Ÿ”„ gotta love how tricky it is to read those pink ball tests though, anyone got a clue on how to deal with them? ๐Ÿ˜•

You know what's crazy? I was at the park yesterday and saw this guy playing a game of cricket with a mate using a frisbee ๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŽพ... like, who needs actual balls when you can just use a flying disc, right?! And it got me thinking, have you guys tried that new outdoor pizza place downtown? Their cauliflower crust is outta this world! ๐Ÿ‘Œ I mean, I know the England-Australia Ashes Test is all about the cricket, but seriously, what's with these pink balls? Don't they get in the way of the game or something? Just a random thought, but I had it while reading about the match ๐Ÿค”

omg what's up w/ england team selection ? ๐Ÿ˜‚ they're gonna rely on some 27-yr-old guy who's only played 3 first-class matches this year? ๐Ÿคฏ and they dropped shoaib bashir who was fit?? ๐Ÿค” i don't get it. ain't they worried about losing to aussies? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway, gotta give credit to jacks for taking on the challenge tho ๐Ÿ‘

I'm not sure about Will Jacks making it into the Ashes squad... I mean, he's got some decent skills but only three first-class matches this year? That's a bit concerning for me. What makes him think he can handle the pressure of facing Australia in such a big series? And yeah, off-spinner Shoaib Bashir being left out is puzzling too - seems like he was fit and ready to go. Maybe they're trying something new with spin options? The pink ball's gonna favor fast bowlers anyway... it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out

Yooo! ๐Ÿคฉ England's got a new spin doctor on board! Will Jacks is gonna give it a go against Australia in the 2nd Ashes Test ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Replacing Mark Wood with an injury means they're hopin' Jacks can bring some variety to their attack ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Off-spinner Shoaib Bashir didn't make the cut despite bein fit and rhymin, so fingers crossed for the young bloke ๐Ÿคž. Australia's lookin tough though, with Usman Khawaja out and Travis Head keepin it real at the top of the order ๐Ÿ’ช. And hey, there's still a chance for Pat Cummins to come back into the mix ๐Ÿ‘. Can't wait to see how Jacks fares on that pink ball ๐Ÿ”ดโšซ๏ธ! He's gonna need some magic to make an impact ๐Ÿ˜ฎ #Ashes #SpinDoctor #PinkBallChallenge

๐Ÿค” England's decision to pick Will Jacks over Shoaib Bashir is interesting... I mean, what happened to Bashir? ๐Ÿ™„ He was fit and ready to go, but somehow he got left out in the cold. On the bright side, Jacks brings a fresh spin option to the table, which could be just what England needs to take down Australia. ๐Ÿ’ฅ The pink ball is supposed to favor fast bowlers, but I'm not convinced that's the case... maybe Jacks can prove me wrong? ๐Ÿ˜ One thing's for sure, it'll be fascinating to see how he performs in this role. ๐Ÿ‘€

Omg I'm so hyped about this new twist in the Ashes series ๐Ÿคฉ! Will Jacks is like a dark horse pick for England and I think he's got a good chance of pulling off some magic with his spin bowling skills ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ. I mean, it's not easy to adapt to playing against Australia, especially on a pink ball which can be really challenging for spinners ๐Ÿ‘€. But Jacks has been doing pretty well in his three first-class matches this year and I think he's got the right attitude to make a difference ๐Ÿ’ช. It'll be interesting to see how he holds up against the Aussies' top batsmen ๐Ÿค”. Can't wait for the second test match to start! ๐Ÿ“บ

man australia is gonna crush england again ๐Ÿ˜…! but like will jacks has got skills fam he's been working hard in the field and can definitely give aussie batsmen a headache ๐Ÿคฏ. 27 yrs old and already making it to ashes squad? that's fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ! gotta feel for mark wood tho, getting injured and all ๐Ÿค•. anyway england needs him now more than ever ๐Ÿ˜‚. lets see how jacks does on the pitch... fingers crossed for us man ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ #Ashes2025 #WillJacks #SpinBowling #Cricket #TeamEngland

I'm so stoked about the Ashes series ๐Ÿคฉ. I've been following Will Jacks' career at Surrey and he's always seemed like a cool guy ๐Ÿ˜Ž. But I gotta say, facing Australia is massive for him - they're one of the toughest teams out there! ๐Ÿ’ช It's gonna be super interesting to see how he performs, especially with that pink ball that's supposed to favor fast bowlers ๐Ÿค”. I mean, it's like trying to ace a tricky maths test without studying beforehand ๐Ÿ˜…. But Jacks has those unique spin skills that might just give him an edge. Can't wait to watch the game and see what happens! โšพ๏ธ

So England's picked Will Jacks over Shoaib Bashir... that raises some interesting questions ๐Ÿค”. Is it a case of youth and inexperience trumping experience and proven track record? I mean, Bashir's been fit all along, but apparently not good enough for the Test squad ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Does this say something about England's bench strength, or are they relying on desperation to find that extra edge? And what's with the pink ball Tests, anyway? It's like they're trying to even the playing field, but at what cost? Fast bowlers always seem to come out on top when it comes to these conditions ๐ŸŸ๏ธ. Will Jacks' unique spin skills might just be the ticket to upsetting the Aussies, but we'll have to wait and see how this plays out ๐Ÿ’ช.

so england's got a new "ace" ๐Ÿ™„ will jacks is like that one friend who thinks they're gonna change the game but really they just wanna be in the spotlight and get noticed ๐ŸŽฌ 27 years old and already on the team ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Surrey all-rounder, sounds legit ๐Ÿ˜’ gonna see how he does against aussie batsmen who are actually good at cricket ๐Ÿ

OMG I'm so excited about Will Jacks making it to the Ashes squad ๐Ÿคฉ! He's got a crazy amount of potential and that spin bowling skillset is gonna bring some fresh vibes to the team ๐Ÿ˜Ž! I love how England is giving him a chance, even with just three first-class matches under his belt - he's gotta prove himself but I'm rooting for him all the way ๐Ÿค—! And can we talk about how Aussie's squad is looking a bit shaky atm? Back spasms and Travis Head's not gonna be the only worry... England might just have this one in the bag ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ

OMG, can't believe Will Jacks is getting a chance to shine against Australia! ๐Ÿคฉ I've been following him for ages, and his spin skills are insane ๐Ÿ’ฅ! England's selection committee must have seen something special in him to pick him over Shoaib Bashir, who's still a top-notch off-spinner.

Anyway, hope Will can make the most of this opportunity and bring some excitement to the Ashes series ๐ŸŽ‰. The Aussies might be worried with Usman Khawaja out and Travis Head taking his place ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. And let's not forget about Pat Cummins' potential return - that'd be a real game-changer! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm not sure about this decision... ๐Ÿค” I mean, Will Jacks is a talented player but he's only played like 3 first class matches this year? Like, how much experience does he really have at this level? ๐Ÿ™„ And what's with the spin option? England already got a good off-spinner in Shoaib Bashir and now they're just gonna go with Jacks? ๐Ÿ˜ It doesn't make sense to me. Australia is gonna be way tougher for him, especially on that pink ball... I hope he can prove himself but I'm a bit skeptical ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

[Image of a cricket bat bouncing off a pink ball with a surprised expression] ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚ England's new spin doctor: Will Jacks? ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, what's next? A team of debutants taking on the Aussies? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ But hey, at least it'll be interesting to see him try to pick up wickets with that wonky leg spin ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘€ [GIF of a person trying to do a funny dance while wearing leg warmers]

This decision to pick Will Jacks over Shoaib Bashir is like throwing a stone into a pond, you never know what ripples it'll create ๐ŸŒŠ... I mean, what impact he'll have on the game? ๐Ÿค” It's interesting that England's thinking of him as a spin option, but can he adapt to the conditions of day-night Tests where fast bowlers thrive? That pink ball is like a wild card, unpredictable and tricky to master ๐Ÿ”ฎ. And with Australia missing Usman Khawaja, it's like they're looking for a way to exploit their vulnerabilities... will Jacks be able to capitalize on that? โš–๏ธ The beauty of sport is its unpredictability, and I'm excited to see how this all unfolds ๐ŸŽฌ

im think england makes good call pickin jacks for 2nd ashes test...he's got that weird spin thing goin on and it might just confuse australian batsmen ๐Ÿ˜. plus, you gotta give credit to surrey for churnin out decent cricketers these days ๐Ÿ™Œ. dont know what's goin on with australia tho, usman khawaja ruled out and travis head still openin up...hope they can bounce back from that ๐Ÿคž. jacks might be a dark horse in this one...can't wait to see him in action ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

I'm still not getting why they can't have a real contest here ๐Ÿค”. Just 'cause Australia's got a few injuries doesn't mean we have to go for some newbie from Surrey ๐Ÿ™„. I mean, I know the lad's got skills and all, but what about experience? He's only played 3 first-class matches this year! ๐Ÿ˜… And then they drop Shoaib Bashir, who's fit and doing a great job... it just doesn't add up, you know? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ The pink ball on day-night Tests is basically tailor-made for Aussie fast bowlers to dominate, so I hope Jacks can bring something new to the table. Fingers crossed! ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ™Œ England's got a new spin doc in Will Jacks! He's gotta be a tough cookie to take on the Aussies in that second Ashes Test. I mean, it's not like he's getting picked 'cause of his experience or anything - he's only played three first-class games this year ๐Ÿคฏ! Still, you can't deny the potential for his spin bowling skills to cause some chaos on that pink ball. Day-night Tests are all about the bounce and movement, and if anyone can exploit it, it's Jacks' unique style of spin. Fingers crossed he makes an impact and proves himself against those Aussies! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘
