England has picked Will Jacks to face Australia in the second Ashes Test, replacing injured pace bowler Mark Wood.

The 27-year-old Surrey all-rounder takes on the role of a spin option for England, with off-spinner Shoaib Bashir omitted from the squad despite being fit.

Australia opener Usman Khawaja has been ruled out due to back spasms, while Travis Head is set to continue opening the batting. The home side have also left room for a potential return by captain Pat Cummins.

Jacks has played just three first-class matches this year and will aim to make an impact with his unique spin bowling skills on the pink ball of day-night Tests, which are perceived to favor fast bowlers.

You know what's crazy? I was at the park yesterday and saw this guy playing a game of cricket with a mate using a frisbee 🏰🎾... like, who needs actual balls when you can just use a flying disc, right?! And it got me thinking, have you guys tried that new outdoor pizza place downtown? Their cauliflower crust is outta this world! 👌 I mean, I know the England-Australia Ashes Test is all about the cricket, but seriously, what's with these pink balls? Don't they get in the way of the game or something? Just a random thought, but I had it while reading about the match 🤔

I'm not sure about Will Jacks making it into the Ashes squad... I mean, he's got some decent skills but only three first-class matches this year? That's a bit concerning for me. im think england makes good call pickin jacks for 2nd ashes test...he's got that weird spin thing goin on and it might just confuse australian batsmen 😏. plus, you gotta give credit to surrey for churnin out decent cricketers these days 🙌. dont know what's goin on with australia tho, usman khawaja ruled out and travis head still openin up...hope they can bounce back from that 🤞. jacks might be a dark horse in this one...can't wait to see him in action 😃.
