Investigation ongoing into body found in burning Bronx apartment

A gruesome discovery was made on Friday in a Bronx apartment building, where firefighters found a woman's body amidst the flames. The 73-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities are now working to determine the cause of her death.

According to police officials, the woman's demise appears to be unrelated to the fire that raged through her building. Firefighters were responding to the blaze when they stumbled upon the body in an apartment on the same floor where the fire originated. The fire had started on the top floor and spread into the building's cockloft before being brought under control within three hours.

Police Chief Joseph Duggan confirmed that 170 firefighters and emergency medical services staff were on the scene, but only a handful of people suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation. Despite this, two civilians declined to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

The investigation into the woman's death is ongoing, with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner leading the inquiry. The NYPD has yet to release any details about the cause of death or the identity of the victim until her family has been notified.

๐Ÿค• oh man, 73 years old and gone in a flash - literally! I mean, I'm glad they found her before the fire got too outta control, but it's just so sad... ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’” I guess you could say she was a real "blaze" to find out about (sorry, had to get one fire pun out of the way). Seriously though, hope her family is doing okay and gets all the answers they're looking for. And can we talk about the weird part where two people just chill on the scene and decline treatment? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ like, "yeah, I'm good, no smoke inhalation for me, thanks"...

๐Ÿค• This is just so shocking and sad, you feel? I mean, you go through your day thinking everything's fine, then you hear about something like this happening in broad daylight... it's just not right. The fact that she was living on the same floor as where the fire started makes me wonder if maybe there was some sort of prior warning sign or red flag that nobody noticed? I hope her family is okay and get's the answers they deserve soon ๐Ÿคž

I'm shocked that 2 people declined medical attention after being exposed to that much smoke ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, isn't that kinda irresponsible? They should've at least gotten a check-up to make sure they're not gonna have some long-term health issues from inhaling all that smoke ๐Ÿ˜’. And what's up with the police chief saying "unrelated" to the fire when we know that fires can be super deadly? Let's get more info out there, people!

๐Ÿค• this is just so sad ๐Ÿ˜”... I mean a fire in an apartment building and you stumble upon someone's dead body... it's like, what even is that?! ๐Ÿคฏ how did they not know something was wrong before? didn't anyone notice anything weird?

and 170 firefighters on the scene? that's insane! i'm all for safety and stuff, but come on, can't we just prevent these kinds of things from happening in the first place? like, is it too much to ask for some basic building inspections or something?

it's also super messed up that two people didn't even want to go to the hospital ๐Ÿค•. what if their health takes a turn for the worse?! don't they know that's when you need help most? ๐Ÿ™„ anyway, hope the police can figure out what happened and bring some closure to this poor woman's family ๐Ÿ’”

OMG, this is so sad ๐Ÿค•... I mean, I know it's not a good thing that someone dies in a fire, but can we even talk about how crazy that cockloft situation was? Like, a fire just started on the top floor and then spread to the cockloft? That's wild. But, for real, my thoughts are with the victim's family right now... 73 is way too young to go. I know some people might be thinking about how this could've been prevented or whatever, but at this point, it's just a tragedy ๐Ÿค—.

This is just another example of how messed up our society is ๐Ÿค•. I mean, think about it, a 73-year-old lady just lying there in flames, and nobody even thinks to check on her before the fire gets outta control? That's some crazy neglect right there ๐Ÿ‘Ž. And to make matters worse, two people who got hurt from smoke inhalation turn down medical attention ๐Ÿšซ? What's wrong with these people? Don't they know that's what hospitals are for?

And have you seen the stats on hospital no-shows lately? It's like, what's the point of even having healthcare if you're just gonna ignore it when it counts? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's not like she was going to die from the fire or anything... oh wait, she did ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. This whole thing is just a perfect example of how we drop each other and our community justifies it by saying "it wasn't my problem". Not cool, man ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Another senseless tragedy unfolding in our city ๐Ÿค•. It's just so disturbing that a woman lost her life like this, amidst a fire that was already ravaging her building. You'd think one place is supposed to be a safe haven for us all... ๐Ÿ˜”. The fact that the police are still trying to determine the cause of death makes me even more uneasy. I hope they get to the bottom of it ASAP ๐Ÿ’ก. This just highlights how tragic it is that our city's emergency services are often stretched thin and under-resourced ๐Ÿš’.

Wow ๐Ÿคฏ this is so sad, you'd think that people would be more careful around candles and things like that... I mean I know it's not always easy to find them but still... 170 firefighters responding to a fire? That's crazy! ๐Ÿš’ Interesting how the cause of death isn't related to the fire tho... hope her family gets some answers soon ๐Ÿ’”
