Blue Jays’ Former All-Star Joins AL West After Brutal Roster Decision

Alek Manoah's MLB Career Hits a Low Point After Brutal Roster Decision

The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the most promising teams in the American League, thanks in large part to their talented young players. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette were two of the standouts this season, but another former standout rookie for the team, Alek Manoah, took a drastic turn.

Manoah was once considered one of the most promising pitchers in the league after being selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft. He had a stellar 2021 season, posting a 3.22 ERA and earning an All-Star nod, but injuries derailed his career. Manoah struggled with elbow issues, making just 19 starts in 2023 and five in 2024.

The Blue Jays decided to cut ties with Manoah, designating him for assignment and ending his promising career with the team in a brutal fashion. The Atlanta Braves picked him up but promptly released him after he only lasted a short time with the team.

Manoah's latest setback was not unexpected. He had been non-tendered by the Braves and reportedly finished third in the American League Cy Young Award voting in 2022. However, it seems that Manoah has found a new home with the Los Angeles Angels on a one-year deal worth $1.95 million.

The deal is fully guaranteed, which will give Manoah the chance to return to the major league mound and try to revive his career. While the contract may not be significant, it's a fresh start for Manoah who has been dealing with injuries and uncertainty for quite some time now. With the Angels, Manoah may finally have the opportunity to put his talent on display and prove himself as one of the top pitchers in the league.

Manoah is just 27 years old, which gives him a chance to recapture his form and establish himself as a top pitcher. The Angels will be hoping that he can bring some much-needed stability to their pitching staff and help them become contenders in the American League West next season.

Ugh, this is crazy! 🤯 Alek Manoah's career just took a massive hit after being cut by his own team and now he's signed with the Angels on a decent deal 🤑. I mean, can't they see that he's got potential? He was so promising in 2021, but then injuries started piling up and now it feels like he's been stuck in limbo forever 💔. The contract might be good, but let's be real, it's not like he's getting a long-term deal to make him feel secure 🤷‍♂️. I'm still rooting for the kid, though – 27 and still got some gas left in the tank ⛽️!

idk man... i thought alek manoah was done for good 🤔, but i guess the angels are giving him a second chance? $1.95 million is like peanuts for a guy of his talent, so that's def a low point for him 🤑. on the other hand, it's not like he had many options left... 27 and still got a shot at reviving his career, so i guess that's a good thing? but what if this just prolongs the inevitable? does anyone else think mane is gonna be okay? 🤷‍♂️

man i feel bad for alek manoah 🤕, the guy had so much promise and was one of my favorite players to watch, but injuries just kept getting in the way. its like he was stuck in a cycle of recovery and setback 🔄. at least now he's got a fresh start with the angels and can try to turn things around 💪, 27 is still pretty young for him too, so fingers crossed he can get back on track and show the league what he's capable of 🤞

I'm so curious about Alek Manoah's latest move 🤔, signing with the Los Angeles Angels on a $1.95 million deal! It's like, he was so promising back in 2019 and had a stellar 2021 season, but then injuries just kept piling up 😔. I wonder what went wrong and if he'll ever get back to his form... He's still only 27, so there's hope for him to turn things around! 💪

But, like, what's with the Blue Jays cutting ties with him so harshly? 🤷‍♀️ Was it just a business decision or was there something more going on behind the scenes? And now that he's with the Angels, will they be able to help him overcome his injury issues and get back to being one of the top pitchers in the league? 🤞

And, I'm curious about the Angels' pitching staff... will Manoah be able to bring some stability to them? They could really use someone with his talent! ⚾️ What do you guys think? Should Manoah get another chance and prove himself all over again? 🤔

ugh its so sad manoah had such huge potential but injuries just kept piling up 🤕 now hes stuck on another team trying to revive his career, a 1.95m contract isnt gonna make a difference tho... but hey at least he got a fresh start, fingers crossed for him 💪

I was watching this crazy video of street performers in Japan 🤹‍♂️ the other day, like these guys who are spinning top hats on fire 🔥 and I'm just thinking about how some people can do that stuff with fire and we're over here worrying about Alek Manoah's baseball career 😂. I mean, it's not like he's going to be a flame-throwing pitcher or anything, but still, you've gotta feel for the guy. His injuries have been a total drag on his career and it's gonna take more than just one year in LA to turn things around 🤞. Plus, $1.95 million is not a lot of money for someone who was once expected to be an ace pitcher 🤑...

omg what's goin on with alek manoah 🤯 like he was this super hyped rookie and then just gets cut by his own team the blue jays is that how it ends for him? 🤔 i mean the angels give him a shot but it's just 1.95 million fully guaranteed lol not gonna lie tho manoah still got some talent left in him maybe he can get back on track 🚀

🤕 Alek Manoah's career is literally on life support rn 🚑. I feel bad for him, he was so promising but injuries are just so brutal 💔. He needs a fresh start, maybe a change of scenery and a solid contract to get him back on track 💸. The Angels seem like the perfect place for him to revive his career, they've got a great team and he's gotta prove himself all over again 🔥. I'm rooting for Alek, dude, I think he can do it 🤞!

Alek Manoah's career is like a bad pizza - it's still got some good toppings, but the crust is all burnt out 🍕😂. I mean, who cuts ties with someone after one year of mediocrity? Sounds like the Blue Jays were just trying to get rid of him before he became a free agent and had to sign for way more money. But hey, at least Manoah got a second chance with the Angels - they must really love his style... or should I say, his 'injury prone' style? 😅 Anyway, it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. Maybe he'll finally put it all together and become the ace pitcher we knew he was meant to be. But until then, I'll just stick with my fantasy team - they don't have to deal with Manoah's drama 🤷‍♂️.

man... Alek Manoah's story is like a parallel universe to what we thought was gonna happen with him after being drafted all those years ago 🤯. one minute he's on top of the world, ace pitcher, and next thing you know, elbow issues are taking over his career 🏋️‍♂️. it's hard not to feel for this kid, 27 and still trying to prove himself. what does it say about our expectations vs reality though? we put so much pressure on athletes to perform and succeed, but what if they just can't do it anymore? is there a different way to measure success in sports that doesn't revolve around stats and accolades? 🤔
