Conor Benn made number one challenger for WBC welterweight world title

Britain's Conor Benn has been given the number one challenger spot for Mario Barrios' WBC welterweight world title, meaning he would face him next.

The 29-year-old, ranked fourth in the WBC rankings, has not fought at the welterweight limit since February last year and was expected to move down after his middleweight defeats against Chris Eubank Jr earlier this year.

Instead, Benn will be given a chance to dethrone Barrios of Mexico who is next scheduled to fight fellow American Ryan Garcia.

Barrios had drawn both of his WBC defenses including one with Manny Pacquiao, while Benn has not fought any of the top contenders in the rankings.
 
I'm like totally stoked for Conor Benn 🤩! I mean, he's been given the number one spot to take on Mario Barrios, and it's like, a dream come true for him, right? It's crazy that Benn will be facing Barrios after not fighting at welterweight in ages 😂. I'm thinking back to when Floyd Mayweather used to fight at lightweight, and it's like, what's going on with the weights these days?! 🤷‍♂️

Benn's been ranked fourth, but he's still got a lot of guts for going up against Barrios. The guy's been drawing with Pacquiao and all that, so I'm sure Benn's gonna give it his all 💪. It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out 🤔. Maybe Benn will prove everyone wrong and take the title 🏆! Wouldn't that be something?! 😮
 
idk why bennt get no1 spot 🤔, seems like a dodgy move to me... barrios just drew 2 fights and yet he gets another shot? meanwhile bennt was expectd to fight at middleweight before welterweight 🤷‍♂️ and now hes being thrown into the deep end with mario barrios who has actually been putting in some work 🥊👊

I think this is gonna be a wild card match 🃏🥊 Conor Benn vs Mario Barrios... I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Benn's been on a roll with his middleweight wins, but you'd think he'd take the easy way out and move down to welterweight? Not so much! I guess Barrios needs the challenge or something 😅. On one hand, it'll be dope to see these two guys go at it, but on the other hand, Benn hasn't exactly fought anyone near Barrios' level before... does he have what it takes? 🤔
 
omg i cant wait for this fight between Conor Benn and Mario Barrios 🤩🥊 what a crazy turn of events! bennt was expected to move down to middleweight after his recent wins but instead he gets the shot at the welterweight title 🎉 itll be interesting to see how hes gonna handle the bigger stage. barrios is a tough opponent, having drawn both of his last two wbc defenses, including one with the legendary manny pacquiao 🤯 and i have to admit, bennt didnt exactly have the strongest resume before this announcement 😐 but i guess you never know what can happen in boxing 💪
 
🤔 I'm not sure about this one... Benn's been inactive for a bit and Barrios is coming off two tough draws 🥊💪. On the other hand, Benn's got the skills and he's taken down some solid opponents like Chris Eubank Jr 💥. But Barrios has experience fighting top level guys in Pacquiao and I'm worried he might be too much for Benn 😬👀. What do you think? Should Benn get this shot? 🤷‍♂️💔
 
omg i cant even imagine Conor Benn going up against Mario Barrios, idk how he's gonna prepare for it lol 🤣 barrios is like a beast in the ring and ben needs to step his game up if he wants to dethrone him 😬 anyway, i think this new challenger spot thingy is a bit unfair to other fighters who have been ranked higher than ben, like chris eubank Jr 🤔 i mean ben did good against him but still...anyway, gotta see how ben's training goes down before the fight 💪🏽🥊
 
I don’t usually comment but I gotta say this is a weird setup for a fight. Conor Benn's been stuck at middleweight for a bit and he just got a shot to take down Barrios who was going to fight Ryan Garcia next 🤔. I mean, it makes sense in the WBC rankings or whatever but it feels like an odd way to set up the title fight. Benn's been on a roll, beat some tough guys earlier this year, and now he's gonna be the one taking on Barrios who was supposed to take down Pacquiao 😂. It's gonna be interesting though, I don't know what's gonna happen in that one 🤞

I think this is a total joke 🤣, what's next gonna be Conor Benn fighting for the moon or something? Like seriously tho, Barrios gets to fight for the WBC title and Benn just gets handed a chance out of nowhere... it don't make no sense to me 🙅‍♂️. They should've at least made him fight one of the other top contenders first, you know, get some experience under his belt. And what's with the fact that Barrios is fighting Ryan Garcia next? Ugh, I'm so sick of these crazy boxing match-ups 🤦‍♂️! I mean, Conor Benn is basically a wild card right now - he's ranked 4th in the WBC and hasn't fought at welterweight since last year 🤔. And yet, he gets the shot against Mario Barrios? It just doesn't make sense to me... I get that Barrios' next fight with Ryan Garcia is scheduled, but can't we get a more experienced contender like Manny Pacquiao back in the mix instead? 🙄 Barrios has drawn both of his WBC defenses, including one with Pacquiao - it's like he's been coasting on his talent 😐. I don't get why Conor Benn got picked over some other guys who actually fought at welterweight weight 🤔. Barrios was supposed to move down anyway after his last fight, so I think it's a bit weird that he gets to stay put and face Benn instead 🤷‍♂️. I mean, Benn is ranked fourth but has only had one fight in the division since February, what are the chances of him beating Barrios? 🤞
