2 people enter Orange Line tracks from train after train stops, opens doors in between stations, MBTA says

Two Orange Line passengers took a daring detour off the rails on Wednesday afternoon. As an Orange Line train approached Roxbury Crossing station, its doors swung open – albeit unexpectedly – at the platform side while it was still stopped outside the station. The train, however, refused to budge, leaving two passengers stranded in the track area.

In a bizarre incident, both passengers managed to exit the train without falling out but instead walked freely off into the rail yard. Thankfully, neither suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital with minor ailments.

Orange Line supervisors and Transit Police officers rushed to the scene to assist the pair, ensuring their safe removal from the track area. An investigation by the T's safety team has so far ruled out any mechanical issues or problems with the train itself.

Service on the Orange Line was briefly suspended as officials conducted a routine inspection. However, normal service resumed later in the day, after the train had been taken out of commission for a thorough examination.

The incident has left authorities reviewing their protocols to prevent such events in the future, although they praised the bravery and quick thinking displayed by the two passengers who took matters into their own hands – literally.

Man... that's wild 😱. Can you imagine being on a train and just walking off into the rail yard? 🤯 Like, I would've freaked out lol. I'm glad those guys were okay, but what if they had gotten hurt or something? 🙅‍♂️ The fact that they took charge and got themselves out of there is actually kind of impressive. But yeah, I can see how the train not moving was a bit of a weird situation... like what even happens in those cases? 🤔

🤯 I mean come on... two people just chillin' on the train, doors open, train's stuck, and they're like "you know what, let's just take a walk" 😂👣. Like, what even is that?! They deserve a medal for bravery or something. And can you imagine if it was one of them who got hurt? 🤕 The rail yard is no place to be playing tourist. Glad they made it out without any serious issues though. 🙏 Should've been a better safety plan in place, if you ask me...

Can you believe that? I mean, who needs safety regulations when you can just walk around a stopped train on the tracks 🤦‍♂️💨?! I'm glad those two passengers didn't get themselves killed (or at least, not too badly 😅). But seriously, what's with the doors opening unexpectedly like that? Is it some kind of prank or did someone really forget to close them 💡. Either way, kudos to them for staying calm and making a break for it 🙌. Now, I guess we can look forward to a whole new level of creative emergency exit strategies on public transportation 👀

🤩 I mean, can you even imagine being on that train and just going with it? 😂 Those two Orange Line passengers totally owned that situation! I'm so impressed by how level-headed they were - I guess sometimes taking risks is the best way to handle unexpected situations 🌟. And kudos to the Transit Police and safety team for doing their thing and keeping everyone safe 👮‍♀️💼. I'm sure it was a pretty intense few minutes, but at least no one got seriously hurt 💕. Now they just need to figure out how not to let that happen again 🤔... maybe they can even share their expertise with other riders?

I'm telling you, this is just another example of how much we rely on tech these days... I mean, a train can't even move itself without human intervention? And what's with these new trains that have doors that swing open on their own while they're still stopped? It's like something out of a sci-fi movie 🚂😳. And two passengers just walking off into the rail yard? That's not exactly what you'd call a safe or sensible decision, if you ask me 🤔. I'm all for innovation and progress, but sometimes I think we're just too quick to adopt new tech without thinking about the potential risks... 🙃

OMG, can you even imagine?! Like, those 2 passengers are literally heroes 🙌! I mean, I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt, but wow, what a crazy situation! 👀 Those train doors just swung open for no reason and the train wouldn't move... it's like something out of a movie! 😱 And then they just walked off into the rail yard? Like, did they have some sort of sixth sense or what? 🤯 I guess it's good that the authorities are reviewing their protocols to make sure this doesn't happen again. Safety first, right? 💡

Just heard about that Orange Line drama 🚫😱... can't believe people were just chillin' on the track when suddenly doors open at Roxbury Crossing station! What if those 2 passengers got hurt? Like, super lucky they walked off without major issues 🤞😬. And what's with the train just freezing up like that? Wasn't even moving or something?! Service suspension was probably a good call tho 👍💯. Gotta wonder how often this kinda thing happens and how many people get hurt in the process 💔🚫.

I'm still getting used to these new train schedules and routes 🚂🤦‍♂️. I mean, can you imagine being on that train and having it just stop with the doors open? You'd think they'd be more careful about those things. I guess some people's brains just work a little differently 💡. Anyway, glad no one got seriously hurt. That would've been really bad news 🤕. The way those two passengers just walked off into the rail yard, though... that's either super brave or totally crazy 😂. Either way, I'm just happy it all worked out in the end 👍.

Umm yeah, can't believe what just happened on the Orange Line 😲! Like, I'm glad no one was seriously hurt but it's crazy that those two passengers knew exactly what to do in that situation 🤯. They must have been thinking fast because they weren't even delayed or anything. The fact that they walked off into the rail yard is just wild 🔪. I mean, we all learn from our mistakes and stuff but this was like... a textbook example of staying calm under pressure 💡. Service got suspended for a bit, I'm sure it was a huge relief to get back on track 🚂😅.

🚂😬 I can imagine how freaky it must've been for those 2 passengers who just decided to take a stroll in the rail yard 🤯. I mean, you're already on a train that's stopped, but then you're like "you know what, I'm good" and walk out into the track area... that's some next level bravery 💪! Glad they were okay though, minor ailments is all well and good 😊. It's definitely a weird way to go about resolving an issue, but hey, at least they didn't panic or anything 👍. Now I'm just curious, what made them think it was a good idea to get off the train like that? 🤔

😮🚂💥 what's up with trains not moving when doors open?! 🤯♂️ like, how does that even happen?! 😳 was it a glitch or something? 🤔 but anyway, glad those 2 passengers were okay 🙏🏽 no major injuries? 🤞 still shaking my head over this one 🚫💥

omg what a crazy situation 🤯🚂 those 2 people are total tag teamers 😂👍 i mean can you imagine being on that train and seeing the doors swing open like that? would've been so freaked out 🤯 i'm just glad they were able to get out of there safely and without any major injuries 💪 my friend's cousin works for the T and he told me about it, he said the supervisors were super calm and professional during the whole incident 👮‍♂️ anyway, hope those 2 passengers are doing alright 🤞

I'm shocked that 2 people made it out alive 🙌. I mean, can you imagine being stuck on a train with no way to move? 😱 It's crazy that they walked off into the rail yard - was it just luck or what? 🤔 The fact that no one got seriously hurt is a miracle, and I'm glad the authorities are taking steps to review their protocols so this doesn't happen again. I feel for the passengers who were on the train that had to wait - must've been super frustrating! 😩 But kudos to those 2 people who took charge of the situation - it's not every day you see someone being that brave and resourceful in a crisis 🙏.

OMG, can you even imagine being stuck on a train that's not moving? 😱 Like, what do you do? These 2 Orange Line passengers were like "screw it" and just walked off the train 🤣! I mean, it's crazy that they didn't get hurt or anything. I guess the authorities are going to review their safety protocols now so something like this doesn't happen again 🚨.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it... did they not see the train was stuck? Like, how do you just walk off a train that's literally stuck in place? 🤷‍♀️ It's definitely a weird incident, but I guess it's good that no one got seriously hurt. The passengers should get props for being brave and quick-thinking tho 💯

🚂😬 I mean, can you believe this?! Two Orange Line passengers basically hijacked a train and walked off into the rail yard! 🤯 I get that they wanted to avoid getting squished or something, but shouldn't there be some better way to handle these situations? Like, safety protocols or emergency exits or something? It's one thing when you're actually in danger, not just taking an unplanned detour. And what about the other passengers on the train who were stuck inside while their friends were gallivanting around outside? Not exactly ideal. 🚫💔

I mean can you even imagine being stuck on that train with no way out? 🤯 The Orange Line passengers really were lucky to get off without any major injuries. I'm thinking about it, how did those guys just walk right out of the track area like nothing's wrong? Were they expecting something? Did they see an opening or something? It's crazy!

I'm not sure what could've been done differently, but it's clear that the train was supposed to keep moving. You'd think the doors would open at the door side if you're getting on, but apparently, it opened at the platform side, which is just as bad. Anyway, the T's safety team said there were no mechanical issues with the train, so maybe it was just a weird glitch or something.

I don't blame the passengers for taking matters into their own hands, though. If you're stuck on a train and can't move, you'd want to do the same thing! I'm glad they're reviewing their protocols now, but at the same time, it's hard not to think about how crazy that situation must've been.

😱 This is insane! I mean, what's with these train doors just swinging open like that?! It's so reckless 😂. I'm glad those two passengers were okay, but can you even imagine being trapped on a moving train? 💥 My heart would've been racing nonstop. And the fact that they just walked off into the rail yard... 🤯 Like, what if someone was coming from the other direction?! 🚨 So relieved they made it out without any serious harm. Hopefully they get some counseling or something after this 😂.

Can you even imagine being stuck on a train with no way to move? Like, what are the chances of that happening, right? 😂 And for these two passengers to just get up and walk away from it like they're in a movie... I mean, kudos to them for staying calm and using their common sense! 🙌 The T's safety team is definitely on top of this one, though - investigating all the details to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. Glad to hear neither passenger got hurt too badly! 💪
