How to use Accessibility Reader on Apple devices

To unlock a feature on Apple devices that reads aloud any text displayed on the screen, head to Settings > Accessibility > Read & Speak. From there, toggle on Accessibility Reader at the top of the page.

Those who use iPhones or iPads can access this feature by triple-clicking their side button or top button, depending on the device model. Alternatively, those with an iPad older than iOS 14 will have to press the Home button three times to launch the Accessibility Shortcut.

On Macs, you can also open Accessibility Reader via the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right and then tapping the "Add a control" option, selecting Accessibility Reader, and customizing its shortcut. The keyboard shortcut on a Mac is already set to Command-Option-Esc or Opt-Cmd-F5, but users are advised to customize it in Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Reader if desired.

One of the standout features of Accessibility Reader is its ability to provide an audiobook-style reading experience. Launching this feature simply involves pressing play on your device.

For those who want a more immersive listening experience, there's also the option to skip back and forth between lines or adjust the speed of the text-to-speech (TTS) functionality.

However, users can easily customize their accessibility settings by tapping the customization button within the Accessibility Reader menu. Here, they can tweak font sizes, colors, themes, and more to suit their needs.

πŸ€” I mean, think about it... we used to have to rely on audiobooks or human narrators for stuff like that. Now we've got this fancy Accessibility Reader thingy on our devices πŸ“±πŸ’». It's pretty cool how customizable it is - I can actually make the font size bigger if I need to 😊. But sometimes I wonder, what's the point of having all these options? I mean, I know some people might really struggle with reading or hearing, but for me, it's just kinda... nice to have 😊. And that audiobook-style thing is pretty sweet too 🎧. Overall, I think it's a step in the right direction, tech-wise. We're getting closer to making stuff more accessible for everyone πŸ‘

I'm so stoked about this new feature on Apple devices 🀩! It's amazing how easy it is to enable Read & Speak, especially with those triple-click shortcuts πŸ”„. I was using my iPad for a video conference last week and the text-to-speech feature really helped me out, but it got a bit too loud so I had to fiddle around in settings to adjust the speed ⏱️. Now I'm all set! The audiobook-style reading experience is also super cool - I can finally catch up on those articles during my morning commute πŸš‚. One thing that's bugged me, though, is that I wish there was an option to save the customized settings for future devices πŸ“. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm so over how much people take these new features for granted πŸ™„. Like, come on, it's just basic functionality at this point! I mean, who doesn't know that you can triple-click the side button on an iPhone to activate Accessibility Reader? It's not like it's a super complex feature or anything... But hey, if it makes your life easier, then go for it! 😊 The audiobook-style reading experience is actually kinda cool, but I wish they'd add more options for customization. Like, can we get some more font styles or something? And why do we have to use the Command-Option-Esc shortcut on Macs? That's just a mouthful 🀯.

🀩 just got my hands on this new feature and I'm OBSESSED! πŸ™Œ it's so cool that you can literally have Siri read out any text on your screen. πŸ“±πŸ’» I was skeptical at first, but trust me, it's a GAME CHANGER πŸ‘ for people with visual impairments or just those who want to multitask while listening to podcasts. 🎧 and the audiobook-style reading experience is SO smooth! πŸ’« what I love most is that you can customize everything to fit your needs - font size, color scheme, theme... it's like having your own personal assistant built right into the Accessibility Reader app πŸ€“πŸ‘

I'm so loving this new accessibility feature on Apple devices! πŸ™Œ I mean, who wouldn't want to have text read aloud while browsing or scrolling through social media? It's like having a personal narrator following you around! πŸ˜‚ And the best part is, it's super easy to set up – just toggle on Accessibility Reader and you're good to go!

I also appreciate that they've included this feature as a standard option. I know some of my mates might be struggling with their screen size or eye sight, and having this read aloud would make all the difference for them.

But what's even cooler is that users can customize it to suit their needs! Want to adjust the speed or font size? Done! πŸ”„πŸ‘

I think it's super cool that Apple is making iOS devices more accessible 🀩. Being able to have text read aloud while using your device is like, a total game-changer for people with vision impairments. The fact that you can also customize the settings to fit individual needs? Mind blown πŸ’₯. And, skipping back and forth between lines or adjusting speed? Genius! πŸ‘

I've seen this feature come and go on iOS devices, but it's great that Apple is finally making it easier for everyone to access. The triple-click trick on iPhones is still a bit finicky, but at least the iPads have made it more straightforward with the Home button shortcut 🀞. On Macs, I'm glad they've got the Control Center option – less clutter on the screen = better experience! And the audiobook-style reading is a game-changer for those who struggle with written text. The customization options are super helpful too, especially for folks with dyslexia or visual impairments πŸ‘

I'm loving this new feature on Apple devices 🀩, it's a total game-changer for people with visual impairments or those who just want to multitask while listening to podcasts or audiobooks. But, I gotta say, I'm a bit concerned about the lack of customization options... like, can't we tweak the speed and tone of the TTS functionality at will? πŸ€” And what's up with not having this feature on older iPads? It feels like Apple's trying to cater to all these new features without considering those who still use older devices πŸ“±. Anyway, I'm excited to try it out and see how it works for me πŸ‘!

just discovered this awesome feature on my iPhone 🀯 and I'm loving it! no more tedious reading for me 😴 all i gotta do is triple click that side button and voila! the text starts reading out loud, like an audiobook πŸ“š it's so cool to be able to customize the font size and speed too πŸ‘ this feature has made my daily routine way more efficient πŸ’ͺ

πŸ˜‚ I remember when we first got our iPhones and had to actually read the instructions in the manual to figure out how to use them! Now, this accessibility reader thingy is like having a personal assistant built-in... it's crazy how far tech has come! 🀯 And I love that you can customize it to your liking - font sizes, colors, themes... it's like having your own personal reading buddy πŸ’‘. But, what really gets me is the audiobook-style reading experience... like having a personal narrator following you around πŸ“š. Can't wait to try this out on my old iPad and see how it goes! πŸ‘

🀯 just realized how amazing it is that Apple's made this feature so accessible πŸ™Œ for people with visual impairments or dyslexia... triple-clicking that side button on my iPhone is literally life-changing πŸ˜‚... wish more tech companies would prioritize accessibility like this πŸ’»πŸ‘

omg i'm so stoked about this new feature 🀩 on my iPhone! I mean, who doesn't want to have text read out loud, right? it's like having a personal reader built in 😎 and the fact that you can customize the speed and skip back/forth between lines is pure genius πŸ’‘. i've been using it nonstop since i found out about it πŸ“šπŸ‘

OMG I'm so stoked about Apple just making Accessibility Reader available on all devices 🀩! Like, finally something that's being done for people with visual impairments, you know? It's not like they're leaving anyone behind or anything πŸ˜‚. But seriously, the fact that it can read out text in an audiobook-style is a game-changer for me when I'm on-the-go and need to multitask – it's literally saved my life so many times! πŸ’‘ And the customization options are everything, like, I can adjust font sizes and colors to make it easier on my eyes... or rather, not my eyes πŸ˜‚. What do you guys think about Accessibility Reader? Have any of you used it before? πŸ€”

omg this is such a game changer for ppl with vision loss or dyslexia!! πŸ€©πŸ“š i mean like who needs a personal assistant when u got accessibility reader built in? πŸ˜‚ the fact that its so easy to use and customizable is just amazing! πŸ‘ especially loving the audiobook-style reading experience 🎧❀️ cant wait for more features to come out πŸ€”

Umm, I think Apple's new accessibility feature is pretty cool... but only if you're a total tech geek πŸ€–πŸ’», otherwise it just seems like an extra step. Like, who actually needs to triple-click their side button or press the Home button three times? That's just gonna be annoying after a while πŸ˜’. On the other hand, I love that they included customizable font sizes and colors - that's so important for people with visual impairments! πŸ“šπŸ’‘ But wait, is it really necessary to have all these options? Can't we just keep things simple like everyone else? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ’Έ

OMG u guys i just tried this new thing on my iPad 🀯 it's literally a game changer for me rn! I have lazy days where i just wanna chill and listen to audiobooks but struggle with the text-to-speech (idk how to say that lol) because of my dyslexia 😊. So when i stumbled upon this accessibility feature on my iPad it was like a lifesaver!!! now i can finally relax and enjoy my fave books without having to read the whole thing πŸ“–πŸ‘Œ

I gotta say, Apple's really come a long way in making their devices more accessible for folks with visual impairments πŸ™Œ. The new accessibility reader feature is a game-changer, and it's amazing how easy it is to set up on both iPhones and Macs. I've got an elderly aunt who uses her iPad all the time, and this will definitely make things easier for her 😊. I'm also loving that they've added options like audiobook-style reading and speed adjustments – it's just great to see tech companies catering to people's needs 🀩. And the customization options are a nice touch too, so users can tailor the experience to what works best for them πŸ‘.

I'm loving this new feature on Apple devices that lets you hear the text on your screen πŸ“±πŸ‘‚! I've got an elderly friend who's totally blind and it would be super helpful for her to have this option. She doesn't even need to learn any fancy shortcuts, just a simple triple-click on the side button and she can start listening 😊. And honestly, the audiobook-style reading experience is so cool - it feels like having your own personal narrator πŸ“šπŸ’«. Plus, being able to customize the settings with font sizes and colors would be amazing for people who need a bit more control over their accessibility πŸ‘. This feature is just another example of how tech can really improve people's lives πŸ’–
