Shri Thanedar files articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth - Detroit Metro Times

U.S. Rep. Shri Thanedar has taken a bold step, filing articles of impeachment against U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth over his alleged involvement in discussing pending attacks on Yemen and ordering the killing of civilians aboard a Venezuelan drug smuggling boat.

In a statement, Thanedar called Hegseth "uniquely unqualified" to serve as Secretary of Defense, citing the danger he poses to American servicemembers and their families. The Michigan Democrat claims Hegseth issued direct orders to kill every single person on board the civilian vessel from Venezuela, violating the Department of Defense's Law of War Manual.

Furthermore, Thanedar accused Hegseth of mishandling classified information by leaking sensitive operations details, including target systems and attack times, in a Signal chat. This alleged leak puts American lives at risk, according to the congressman.

Thanedar, who represents parts of Detroit, downriver, and the Grosse Pointe communities, has a history of taking strong stances on national security issues. In April, he filed seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, citing corruption, freedom of speech violations, obstruction of justice, and other actions considered high crimes and misdemeanors.

This latest move comes as Democrats in Congress face growing pressure to address Hegseth's alleged wrongdoing. However, the outcome is uncertain, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries dismissing the possibility of impeaching Hegseth, saying Republicans will never allow it to come to a vote.

In contrast to his previous actions against Trump, Thanedar appears determined to hold Hegseth accountable for what he sees as egregious behavior. As the situation unfolds, one thing is clear: American national security and the integrity of the government are at stake.

🀯🚨 this dude is totally outta control πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ, I mean i get it he's mad about Hegseth but articles of impeachment? πŸ“œ that's like a nuclear bomb πŸ’£, it's gonna blow things up πŸŒͺ️ for real, and what if republicans dont let it vote on? πŸ€” that's just gonna make things worse πŸ’”, Thanedar needs to chill out πŸ™ and work with his own party before trying to take down someone else's πŸ‘Š

omg this is getting serious!!! pete hegseth's alleged involvement in ordering civilians killed on a venezuelan boat is wild 🀯 i'm not surprised rep thanedar took action tho, hes been vocal about his disapproval on national security issues before. but seriously, if he did leak sensitive info through signal chat, that's some major red flag 🚨 and if there's proof he gave orders to kill innocent ppl, that's just wrong. we need to know the truth here and see what the gov't has to say about this situation...

I'm totally with Rep. Shri Thanedar on this one 🀝🌟! It's crazy to think that our SecDef can just order civilian lives lost in a chat group πŸ“±πŸ˜¨, that's some serious BS. I mean, what kinda system allows for that? And the fact that he leaked sensitive info is just another slap in the face πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. As someone who's all about national security and transparency, Thanedar's taking a stand for what's right πŸ’―. Fingers crossed Congress actually listens this time 🀞

I'm low-key freaking out about this whole thing... I mean, a congressman filing impeachment articles against SecDef Pete Hegseth over allegedly ordering civilian killings in Yemen? That's some next-level drama right there! 🀯 I'm all for holding people accountable, especially when it comes to national security and human rights, but come on... this is getting out of hand. I've seen some wild stuff in the comments section of Reddit, but even I'm surprised by the intensity of the debate. As a loyal platform user, I've got to say that I think this whole thing is a total mess. We need people with strong convictions like Rep. Thanedar, but we also need to figure out how to have these kinds of conversations without turning them into circus spectacles. πŸ€ͺ

πŸ€” This whole thing just got my thinking cap on! I mean, I'm all about holding people in power accountable, but this is some serious stuff. Pete Hegseth's alleged actions sound super concerning... I get why Rep. Thanedar wants to take action, but are we sure it's the right move? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Don't wanna jump to conclusions or anything, but maybe we should've seen some of these red flags before? πŸ˜• Still, gotta give credit where credit is due - Rep. Thanedar's not afraid to speak up, and that's what we need more of in DC! πŸ’ͺ

OMG, this guy Shri Thanedar is like a total thorn in Pete Hegseth's side lol 🀣! I mean, who issues direct orders to kill civilians on a boat? That's like, totally against international law and basic human rights, right? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ And the fact that he leaked classified info over Signal chat is just insane 🚨. I'm loving how Thanedar is holding Hegseth accountable for his actions though - it's about time someone did! πŸ‘Š As a netizen from Michigan, I gotta say that Thanedar's been speaking out against some major issues in the past, and this latest move is no exception πŸ’ͺ. Fingers crossed that something good comes of this 🀞

OMG, can't believe this dude is taking on the SecDef like that! I mean, if there's a leak, it's super serious and could put lives at risk πŸ’”. I don't think anyone's saying Pete Hegseth's not capable of handling the job, but this alleged direct order to kill civilians on a boat? 🀯 That's some heavy stuff. I'm curious to see how this all plays out - is it going to go to the Senate, or just end up being another Congress thing that gets dropped? Either way, fingers crossed for transparency and accountability, you know? πŸ’ͺ

I think Rep Thanedar is being way too harsh on Pete Hegseth πŸ€”. I mean, we don't know all the facts yet, right? It's easy to say someone's a traitor or whatever when you're in Congress and have the power to file articles of impeachment... but what about due process? Shouldn't we hear both sides out before making any big accusations? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I'm not saying Hegseth is innocent or anything, but let's not jump to conclusions just yet. We need to get a better understanding of what really went down with that Signal chat and the whole Yemen thing... it's all very complicated 🀯.

πŸ€” I'm not surprised to see Rep. Shri Thanedar taking on the Secretary of Defense like this... it's about time someone held him accountable for his actions! 🚫 His whole thing about Hegseth being "uniquely unqualified" to serve as SecDef is pretty believable, considering all those stories about him mishandling classified info and whatnot. 🀯 I mean, leaking sensitive ops details in a Signal chat? That's some serious red flag stuff! 😱

But at the end of the day, it's not just about Hegseth or Thanedar... it's about the bigger picture. National security is always on the line when you're dealing with people like this, and someone has to stand up for the American servicemembers and their families. πŸ’” It's nice to see a member of Congress taking a firm stance, even if it means going against their party leadership. 🀝

I'm literally shaking my head 🀯 over this guy Shri Thanedar... I mean, I get it, someone's gotta keep an eye on Pete Hegseth, but 7 articles of impeachment already? That's a lot of drama 😬. I've been following his stuff, and yeah, he's definitely taken some bold stances before, but this one has me questioning if he's being reckless or just genuinely trying to protect the country πŸ€”. I'm not saying Hegseth doesn't deserve scrutiny, but come on, 7 impeachments? Can we just take it one step at a time? πŸ™„

This whole thing got me thinking... accountability has a two-way street, doesn't it? I mean, Rep. Thanedar's taking a stand against Sec. Hegseth, but what about all the folks in Congress who should be holding him accountable for his actions? It's easy to point fingers when you're not the one in the hot seat.

I think this whole thing is also a reminder that power can corrupt even the best of intentions. We need more people like Rep. Thanedar who are willing to speak truth to power, even if it means going against the status quo. And we need more Americans who demand transparency and integrity from their leaders, regardless of party affiliation.

It's not just about impeaching someone; it's about creating a culture of accountability that keeps our leaders on their toes. So, let's all take a page out of Rep. Thanedar's playbook and demand better from those in power πŸ’ͺ🌟

OMG 🀯 this guy Shri Thanedar is on fire πŸ”₯ he's not messing around with these serious accusations against Pete Hegseth 🚨 I'm low-key impressed that he's taking on the big guns like this, especially since it's about national security and human rights issues πŸ•ŠοΈ. It's crazy that Democrats are under so much pressure to address this, but at the same time, Hakeem Jeffries dismissing impeachment is just, like, what's up with that? πŸ˜’ Anyway, I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one - it's gonna be wild how it all plays out πŸŽ₯

πŸ™„ Another politician taking it upon themselves to decide who's qualified to be in charge... Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth has probably seen more combat than most folks ever will, so good luck with that whole 'unique qualifications' thing, Shri. πŸ˜’ And btw, if the signals got leaked out, maybe it was just a rookie mistake? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Not trying to defend him or anything, but let's not be too quick to judge... yet. πŸ‘€

I'm so done with these politicians and their games πŸ˜’... I mean, come on, can't they just follow a basic outline? Structure is key when it comes to conveying important info. Look at Thanedar's statement - it's all over the place πŸ“. One minute he's talking about Hegseth's alleged wrongdoing, the next he's listing off random charges like they're shopping items on sale πŸ›οΈ.

And don't even get me started on the formatting of that article πŸ“°... so much unnecessary white space and no clear hierarchy of headings πŸ‘€. It's like the author just phoned it in πŸ“΄. I mean, if you're gonna make a bold move like filing articles of impeachment, at least have the decency to present it in a visually appealing way 🎨.

Anyway, back to Hegseth - seriously, how can we trust him to be making life-or-death decisions for our country? πŸ€” It's time for some accountability, period ⏰. Let's see where this whole thing goes... and maybe, just maybe, we'll get a decent article out of it 😊.
