Clippers cut ties with young forward following Chris Paul shakeup

The Los Angeles Clippers have made a surprise move by cutting ties with young forward Jahmyl Telfort just one day after releasing All-Star point guard Chris Paul. The team's decision to waive the 24-year-old rookie came despite his promising stint with the Clippers this season, where he played in eight games and averaged four minutes per night.

Telfort had shown flashes of promise, recording a single point to go with three rebounds and an assist across 34 professional minutes this season. He also featured in six games for the San Diego Clippers in the G League, averaging 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 33.3 percent shooting.

In contrast, guard RayJ Dennis is seen as a more suitable replacement to fill Paul's role on the bench. The 24-year-old has already made meaningful plays in his young NBA season, averaging 4.9 points per game with the Indiana Pacers and showcasing his skills in the G League for the Noblesville Boom.

The Clippers' decision to waive Telfort comes as a surprise, given his potential and the fact that he had signed with the team late in June. However, the team's thinning at guard position, with Bogdan Bogdanovic and Bradley Beal both battling injuries, could soon see Dennis get his chance to shine.

With Paul's departure, Dennis will have his first opportunity to impress as the Clippers travel to Memphis to play the Grizzlies on Friday. His signing marks a welcome boost for the team, which was already facing uncertainty with the loss of their point guard.

omg i cant believe what just happened with jahmyl telfort 🤯 he had such great moments on the court and now hes just cut loose 😢 but im glad rayj dennis is gonna get his chance to shine 💪 i mean, pauls departure was a huge blow for the clippers but this signing is def a good move 📈 i feel bad for telfort tho, he had so much potential 🤔 and now hes gotta start all over again 🔄 i guess only time will tell if dennis can fill pauls shoes 👞

I'm kinda bummed that Jahmyl Telfort got cut loose by the Clippers 🤕. I mean, he showed some flashes of promise, but it's crazy how quickly things can change in the NBA. He had a solid stint with San Diego in the G League too 📈. But on the other hand, I guess RayJ Dennis is looking like a pretty solid pick-up for them. He already has some serious skillz under his belt 💪. It'll be interesting to see how he handles playing alongside Bogdanovic and Beal when they get back from their injuries 😬.

I'm just thinking about that new show I binged over the weekend 🤔... it had me hooked from the first episode! The main character's life is so fascinating, all these twists and turns in her relationships... reminds me of how crazy my own life got after a particularly bad breakup 😂. I swear, sometimes I think I'm more dramatic than the characters on TV lol. Anyway, back to basketball... have you seen any good games lately? 🏀

omg i cant believe they cut ties with Jahmyl Telfort so soon 🤯 his stint with the clippers this season was promising at least he showed flashes of promise and in the g league he was killing it 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists on 33.3% shooting that's some solid stats for a rookie but i guess the team is thinning out at guard position now which makes sense considering bogdanovic and beal are injured 🤕

anyway back to telfort he had so much potential and it sucks they didnt give him a chance to shine more on the court he was only playing 4 minutes per night that's crazy low for a rookie with that kind of upside but i guess thats what happens when you gotta make tough decisions as a coach 👍

So the Clippers are basically saying "you know what, we trust RayJ more than Jahmyl Telfort" 🤔 - it's like they're trying to send a message that they've got faith in their new guy, but at the same time, it's also a bit concerning that they're cutting ties with someone who showed so much promise. It's like they're playing both sides against each other - on one hand, you want to give your young players a chance to develop, but on the other hand, when injuries happen, you need guys who can fill in the gaps right away.

It's also got me thinking about how this affects the team's overall strategy. Are they trying to make a statement that they're not committed to their young players? Or are they just being pragmatic and saying "okay, we've got a guy who fits the bill, let's go with him"? I think it's a bit of both, to be honest 🤷‍♂️.

omg i cant believe they cut ties with Jahmyl Telfort so soon 😱 he had some good games and showed promise, but i guess the Clippers just didnt see it in him 🤔 their decision to waive him feels like a major waste considering how much potential he had back in June... anyway, hopefully RayJ Dennis can step up his game now that Paul is gone 👍 he's been looking pretty solid on the G League and i think he could bring some stability to the bench 💯

🤔 I'm kinda surprised they let Telfort go so soon... he had some solid minutes under his belt this season and showed promise in the G League 📈. I get that injuries are a thing, but 24 is still young for an NBA player - feels like they should've kept him around to develop further 🤷‍♂️. On the other hand, RayJ Dennis looks like a solid backup option... not sure if he's gonna fill Paul's shoes just yet, but at least he's got some good skills 😊. Do you guys think Telfort had what it took to make it in the NBA? 🤔
