Sean Combs' Mother Slams Netflix Docuseries as 'False' Abuse Claims, Calls Series 'Intentionally Misleading'
Janice Combs, Sean Combs' mother, has fired back at claims made in the Netflix docuseries "Sean Combs: The Reckoning", calling them "intentionally misleading" and "offensive". In a statement provided exclusively to Deadline, Combs disputed several allegations made against her son and his upbringing.
Combs took issue with the program's portrayal of her relationship with her son, stating that it contains "falsehoods" about their family life. She claimed that the series' depiction of her parenting was particularly egregious, accusing Netflix of portraying her as an abusive parent.
"These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean's upbringing and family life are intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation," Combs wrote. "That was a very sad day for all of us... For [Burrowes] to use this tragedy and incorporate fake narratives to further his prior failed and current attempt to gain what was never his – Bad Boy Records – is wrong."
Combs also disputed the claim made by former Bad Boy Records executive Kirk Burrowes that she slapped him after a tragic event in 1991, which resulted in nine deaths. She called this allegation "patently false" and "outrageous", claiming that it was used to further Burrowes' own interests.
Combs concluded her statement by demanding that Netflix publicly retract the distortions and falsehoods presented in the series. The mother is seeking accountability for what she sees as a malicious portrayal of herself and her son.
