Admiral Rachel Levine’s federal portrait gets deadnamed

omg i cant even right now 🤯 this is such a huge deal for trans ppl who have fought so hard to get recognized & respected its like they're taking away our identity piece by piece 🗿️ i feel like the admin is trying to erase all the progress weve made and it's just not cool 🙄 especially with admiral levy's work in public health she's been such a game changer for lgbtq+ ppl and now this update is basically saying 'hey forget everything she did' 🤦‍♀️ what's next gonna be erasing her name from history books too?! 😱

I don’t usually comment but I think it's wild that they changed her name on the official portrait. Like, what's the point of having a trailblazer like Admiral Levine if you're just gonna erase her identity? 🤔 I get that some people might be uncomfortable with using different names, but this feels like a huge step back for representation and visibility in the government. And it's not just about the name, it's about the message it sends to other LGBTQ+ individuals who are trying to make a difference in their careers. It's like they're sending a signal that we're not welcome or respected as our authentic selves. 🚫👎 I'm all for accuracy and clarity, but this feels like a petty move to me. Can't we just get on board with progress and support trans leaders without erasing their identities? 💖

I'm so bummed to see Rachel Levine's name being changed back to her deadname 🤕. I mean, she's already faced so much and deserves respect for who she is 💖. It's like, what's the point of making progress if we're just gonna go back on it? 🙄 The HHS said they want accurate info, but I think this is more about being PC (not in a good way) 😒. And let's be real, it's a big deal for trans folks who are already fighting for visibility and representation 💪. It feels like one step forward, two steps back 🤦‍♀️. Can't we just leave her name alone? 🙅‍♀️

🤔 So it's crazy to think that a photo of someone who's basically changed the game for trans folks is now getting an edit that kinda rolls back their progress... I mean, what even is the point of having a "progress" symbol if you're just gonna erase parts of the person who made it? 🤷‍♀️ It feels like we're still stuck in this cycle of erasure and marginalization. I get that HHS might be trying to be careful with info, but can't they just leave Rachel's chosen name alone? 👀 This whole thing is highlighting how much work we've got left to do for trans visibility and acceptance. 💔

I'm really disappointed to see this happen with Admiral Levine's portrait 🤕. I mean, you'd think that after everything she's been through, we'd be celebrating her identity, not trying to erase it. The fact that they're changing the digital format of her name from "Rachel" to "Jenny" is just, like, super petty and bigoted 😒.

I get what they're saying about accuracy and policy guidelines, but come on, this is a federal institution we're talking about! We should be setting an example for inclusivity, not undermining it. Levine's work has been amazing, from pandemic responses to advocating for LGBTQ+ health policies - she deserves our support and celebration, not erasure.

This whole thing just highlights how much work we still have to do in terms of representation and visibility for trans individuals 🤝. We need to be pushing for more inclusive language, symbols, and protocols, not rolling back progress. It's frustrating to see this kind of controversy surrounding something as simple as a name change 🙄.
