These Philly groups are accepting food, clothes and gift donations during the holidays

As Christmas approaches, residents of Philadelphia are coming together to help those in need. Throughout December, several local organizations are accepting food, clothes, and gift donations to support individuals struggling with poverty.

For food, Share Food Program stocks pantries, community fridges, and other resources throughout the city, accepting raw produce, protein, pantry staples, cheese, and used clothing. Meanwhile, Broad Street Love provides meals and medical services to residents in need, while Caring for Friends delivers meals and pantry staples to seniors in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Community Fridges across the city offer a convenient way for people to leave and take food as they please. Additionally, Northwest Mutual Aid Collective delivers fresh produce and dry goods to low-income residents and people with disabilities, accepting monetary donations and allowing donors to ship wish lists of food items through Amazon and Walmart.

For clothing, Cradles to Crayons is partnering with two local entities for coat drives this winter, while Project HOME accepts new and gently used sweatpants, T-shirts, underwear, socks, and shoes. The Everywhere Project needs clothing donations throughout the year, and One Warm Coat has a searchable map to find the nearest coat drive in neighborhoods.

Gift donors can support organizations such as St. Francis Inn, Lutheran Settlement House, and Operation Santa. St. Francis Inn provides food, clothing, and job services to the Kensington community, while Lutheran Settlement House helps people who are homeless or impacted by domestic violence. Operation Santa accepts new and unwrapped gifts for families and seniors.

The USPS also offers its annual Operation Santa event, where donors can select a person and send requested gifts through December 13. Philly People of Hope is collecting toys and small gift sets for adults until December 20.

Ugh, it's that time of the year again 🤦‍♂️! Can't we just do this all year round? I mean, I get it, some people need help more than others, but shouldn't we be trying to prevent poverty in the first place instead of just giving handouts during the holidays?! 🙄

I guess what really gets my goat is when ppl say "charity" like it's a one-way street where we just give and they don't have to lift a finger. What about all the volunteers who are putting in countless hours? Where's their recognition?! 🤔

On a more positive note, I love that there are so many local orgs doing this! It's amazing how much of a difference these programs can make in people's lives. And hey, if you're able to donate, go for it! Every little bit counts 🎁. Just please don't expect me to start volunteering every month, okay?! 😂

omg u no i just got the cutest puppy from my aunt she's this adorable little golden retriever mix 🐶💕 i named him noah and he's literally the best thing since sliced bread i was so stressed out about christmas shopping but now i feel like i can tackle anything with a warm cup of coffee in hand ❤️ anyway, back to philly... i heard the community fridges are kinda cool how they just let ppl take what they need? sounds like a great way to spread the love 🤗

🎄💖 you know I was just saying how Philly is the best city in the US and now I'm like totally convinced 😂 it's because they're all about spreading love and kindness this Christmas season! 🌟 I mean, who needs a fancy holiday event when you can just donate to all these amazing organizations and make a real difference in people's lives? 🙏 I've been looking into these community fridges and they're literally changing the game - no one has to go hungry or cold because of some bureaucratic red tape! 😡 And Cradles to Crayons is doing such great work with their coat drives, it's amazing to see how the whole city comes together for a good cause. 🌈 I'm so down to donate some extra cash to Northwest Mutual Aid Collective and help get fresh produce and dry goods to those who need it most! 💪

omg i'm so inspired by all these ppl in philly comin together to help those in need 🤗💕 this is what christmas is all about! every little bit counts, even if it's just a spare can of soup or an old sweater 🎁👖 we should all take a page out of their books and spread some kindness wherever we go ❤️

🎅️ The way Philly's residents are coming together to support those in need during Christmas is just what the city needs right now 🙏. It's like, we're already seeing some of our politicians trying to cash in on the holiday spirit with their own charity events and initiatives, but this is grassroots stuff that's really making a difference 💸.

I mean, think about it - these community fridges are basically just free food for anyone who needs it 🍔. And Cradles to Crayons' coat drive is a no-brainer - every Pennsylvanian deserves access to decent clothing in the winter ❄️. But what really stands out to me is how organized this all is, like we've got whole teams working behind the scenes to make sure everyone's taken care of 🤝.

It makes me wonder, though - are these community organizations just filling a gap that the city itself can't or won't fill? Or are they just proving that we don't need more handouts from our politicians, but rather just good old-fashioned community spirit ❤️. Either way, kudos to everyone involved for making this Christmas season one to remember 🎄!

I'm so over the cluttered donation pages 🙄. Can't we just simplify things? I mean, I get it, giving back during Christmas is great and all, but do we really need to create a whole ecosystem around it? Like, where's the intuitive way to donate clothes or food without having to navigate through 10 different websites? 🤯 Cradles to Crayons should just have a straightforward "donate now" button on their homepage. And why do all these organizations need to use Amazon and Walmart as shipping channels? It's just adding more complexity 🛍️. I wish they'd just make it easy for us to contribute without making me feel like I'm solving a puzzle 🤔.

I just got the most amazing hot chocolate recipe from my friend's sister-in-law and I'm totally obsessed 🍫👀 She added this insane ingredient, matcha powder, which sounds weird but trust me it's a game changer 💥 We're going to make it for our holiday party and I'm already thinking about all the fun decorations we can do with green and white colors 🎄😂 Anyway, back to Philly... I've been meaning to try that Community Fridge thing – has anyone had good experiences with it? 🤔

Wow! 🤩 People in Philly really coming together to help those in need this Christmas season... it's so cool to see local organizations like Share Food Program, Broad Street Love, and Northwest Mutual Aid Collective making a difference in the community. And the fact that they're not just accepting donations, but also providing meals, medical services, and other resources is amazing. 🤝

People don't have to fight poverty because it's not a fight. It's like trying to hold water in your hands – the more you squeeze, the more it spills out. 🌊

🤔 I'm not sure about all these charity drives going on in Philly this Christmas season... don't get me wrong, it's great that people are coming together to help those in need, but can we talk about the environmental impact of all these extra packaging and waste? Like, I love Cradles to Crayons and all, but coat drives alone can generate a lot of stuff that might end up in landfills. 🚮 And what about the monetary donations? Are they being used efficiently or is some of it just getting lost in bureaucratic red tape?

And have you seen those community fridges popping up everywhere? They're actually pretty cool, but are we really encouraging people to just grab whatever's available without thinking twice about food safety? 🤷‍♀️ I know it's meant to be a solution for food insecurity, but let's not forget that some of these resources might be contaminated or expired.

I guess what I'm saying is, while I love the spirit of giving during the holidays, let's also think critically about how our efforts are actually making a positive impact. 💡

I'm so inspired by the people in Philly who are coming together to make a difference 🤩🎄. It's amazing how local organizations are working together to support those in need. I think it's great that they have community fridges and pantries where people can get food without having to pay anything 💸. And what's even better is that there are programs like USPS Operation Santa where you can literally send gifts to someone in need who doesn't have anyone to buy for 📨🎁. It just goes to show that we're all capable of spreading some Christmas cheer and making a positive impact on our community ❤️.

I'm actually really heartwarming to see people in Philly coming together like this 💖. I mean, it's not just about the donations, but also about the community support and care for each other 🤝. I've lived here for a while now, and it's amazing to see how people from all walks of life can come together to make a difference 😊. And I love that there are so many organizations accepting different types of donations - it's not just about throwing money at the problem 🙅‍♀️. It's about building relationships and helping each other out 👫. I've already bookmarked some of these organizations, gonna start donating some stuff myself 💻🎁.

Man, I'm so grateful to see people coming together like this in Philly 🤝🏼❤️. It's crazy how much of a difference even the smallest acts of kindness can make, you know? Like, have you seen those community fridges popping up all over the city? It's genius! People just leaving food out for whoever needs it... it's like a big ol' hug for the community 🤗. And I love that there are so many organizations doing their part to support folks who are struggling – from delivering meals and medical services, to collecting clothing and gifts, it's all about spreading love and kindness this holiday season ❤️❤️. Can we get more of this in other cities too? That'd be amazing 😊.

I'm loving this vibe of people coming together in the city 🤩. It's crazy how many orgs are working together to help those in need. I think it's awesome that they're setting up community fridges, like, where ppl can just grab what they need without having to ask for it. And NW Mutual Aid Collective is doing some amazing work too, with their Amazon and Walmart wish lists 🛍️. But can we talk about how this is also a reflection of the city's history? Like, Philly has been through some tough times, but people are still finding ways to support each other. It's beautiful 😊. Also, what's up with Operation Santa at the USPS? I mean, it's not every day you get to send gifts to complete strangers 📨. I'm donating to Philly People of Hope too, who knows who they'll end up helping? 🤞

I'm loving the Philly vibes right now! 🎄🌟 It's so heartwarming to see people coming together to help those in need, especially during the holiday season. I think it's awesome that there are so many organizations like Share Food Program and Broad Street Love providing essential services like meals and medical care to vulnerable populations.

I'm also impressed by the creativity of Community Fridges – who wouldn't want a place where they can just grab a snack or leave some food for someone else? 🤗 And it's great that there are so many opportunities for people to donate, whether it's through monetary donations or shipping wish lists on Amazon and Walmart.

Clothing donations like coats and warm sweats are super practical, and I love that Cradles to Crayons is partnering with local entities to make it easier for people to give back. And Operation Santa? Genius! 🤩 It's amazing how technology can be used to bring joy to others' lives.

Overall, Philadelphia is showing us what kindness and generosity look like in action. I'm feeling all the feels just reading about this! ❤️

I'm so down with this whole community vibe, but gotta say, it's kinda weird that we're always talkin' about Christmas like it's the only time to care about people in need 🤔. I mean, what about the rest of the year? We should be supporting these organizations 365 days a week, not just when Santa comes to town 🎅️.

And can we talk about how some of these orgs are doin' it with Amazon and Walmart? Like, isn't that just another form of consumerism? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helpin', but let's make sure we're not just perpetuatin' the same systems that created poverty in the first place 🤷‍♀️.

On a more positive note, it's awesome that Cradles to Crayons is partnering with local entities for coat drives. We gotta look out for each other, especially when the weather gets cold ❄️. And I love that Philly People of Hope is collectin' gifts for adults – we're often overlooked, fam 👍. Let's keep this community spirit goin' all year round! 💖

🎄👕 I'm so moved by the outpouring of kindness in Philadelphia this Christmas season 🤗. It's amazing to see how people are coming together to support those struggling with poverty, especially during a time when it can be really tough for many families. The community fridges initiative is genius – who wouldn't want to help someone in need without judgment? 🤝 And the partnerships between local organizations and businesses are really inspiring – it just goes to show that we don't have to compete for resources, we can work together to make a difference 💖.

It's also heartwarming to see that there are so many different ways to get involved, whether it's donating food or clothing, or even just buying gifts for those in need 🎁. The USPS Operation Santa event is such a cool idea – I love how it brings people together and allows us to spread some joy from afar ❤️. And let's not forget about the ones who are often overlooked, like seniors and people with disabilities – they deserve our extra kindness and consideration too 🙏.

Overall, this Christmas season feels like more than just a time for gift-giving – it's a reminder that we're all in this together, and that even small acts of kindness can add up to make a big difference 💫.

🎄 I'm loving the community spirit in Philly right now! It's amazing to see so many orgs coming together to help those in need, especially with Christmas around the corner 🤩. The Share Food Program is doing some awesome work stocking up pantries and community fridges – who knew we had so many hungry bellies in the city? 😂 Anyway, it's really cool that Northwest Mutual Aid Collective is accepting monetary donations too! That way people can contribute what they can and get stuff delivered right to their doorstep 📦. And can we talk about Cradles to Crayons' coat drive for a sec?! Those kids are gonna have some awesome warm clothes for winter 🧥❤️. Overall, it's just a super heartwarming thing to see people looking out for each other in Philly – keep spreading that love and kindness! ❤️
