Student killed, suspect in custody in Kentucky State University shooting

A lone gunman has been taken into custody after a shooting at Kentucky State University left one person dead and another in critical condition. The incident occurred on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement who secured the campus before determining there was no ongoing threat.

According to authorities, two students were involved in the confrontation that led to their injuries. The Frankfort Police Department confirmed officers responded to a report of "an active aggressor" after which the university campus was placed under lockdown for safety reasons.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear described the incident as an isolated event rather than a mass shooting, emphasizing there is no evidence of any ongoing threat. He expressed his condolences to those affected by the tragedy, stating violence should not be present in public spaces such as schools and communities.

Another separate incident of violence occurred at North Carolina's North Forsyth High School earlier on Tuesday, resulting in one student being killed and another injured during a confrontation between students.

aww man, it feels like we're living through some crazy times πŸ€•... remember that time when school shootings were super rare and everyone was like "this can't happen to our kids"? now it's like every other week there's some news about another shooting somewhere πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. I'm all for people being able to express themselves, but not at the cost of innocent lives πŸ˜”. and what's with these separate incidents? like two school shootings in one day? how are we supposed to keep up with this stuff? 🀯. I hope law enforcement is doing their thing to make sure our kids are safe in schools... gotta be better than just locking down the campus, you know? πŸ’”

You know what's weird, I was just browsing through an old playlist from 2015 the other day 🎡. I found this song that was literally so underrated back then. The guitar riffs are insane! I'm thinking of dusting off my old guitar and jamming out to it again... maybe it'll be the perfect soundtrack for when I'm trying to process all this news stuff πŸ˜•. It's just crazy how these school shootings keep happening, and yet we still don't have a clear solution to prevent them. Anyway, back to that song... have you guys ever listened to "The 1975"? πŸ€”

I'm so relieved that the gunman was caught, but it's still super scary to think about how quickly things can escalate into tragedy 😱. I mean, schools are supposed to be safe spaces for our kids, you know? It's just not right that we have to live with this constant fear of violence πŸ€•. I hope the guy who got taken in is getting the help he needs, 'cause it's clear he was struggling with something deep down πŸ€”. And yeah, Governor Beshear said all the right things about not seeing any bigger threat, but still... one life lost is way too many πŸ’”. What's going on, man? Can't we just get along and be kind to each other? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ˜” just heard about the shooting at Kentucky State University and it's really heartbreaking to think about what happened πŸ€•. One person lost their life and another is fighting for their life πŸ™. I'm so glad that law enforcement was able to respond quickly and keep everyone safe #GunViolencePrevention #SchoolSafetyMatters

I'm also thinking about the other incident at North Carolina's high school, it's just devastating when violence breaks out in places where we expect to feel safe #PeacefulCommunitiesDeserveLove

Governor Beshear is right, this isn't a mass shooting situation, but it's still unacceptable that some people have to go through such trauma 🀯. We need to come together and support each other during these tough times πŸ’• #UnitedForJustice

πŸ˜” this is just so senseless... two young lives lost to senseless violence. it's like our society is just perpetuating these tragic events by putting more guns in the hands of people who don't know how to handle them πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. we're always talking about gun control, but what's really being done? it feels like we're just patching up holes without addressing the root issue.

and another thing that really gets me is how these incidents are treated as isolated events. they're not. they're part of a bigger pattern of violence that's affecting our communities, especially our youth πŸ€•. we need to start taking responsibility for creating safe spaces, not just locking them down and hoping for the best. and what about mental health support? it feels like we're neglecting that aspect, too.

it's heartbreaking to see our young people having to go through this. when will it end?! πŸ™

Just heard about this crazy stuff happening in the US πŸ€•... like, how can something like this even happen? I mean, you'd think that schools are supposed to be safe spaces for everyone πŸ€”. And to know that there's no evidence of any ongoing threat from the authorities is kinda reassuring, but it's still super sad about those two students who lost their lives πŸ’”. What's really got me thinking though, is how we're always hearing about these incidents and they seem to be getting more frequent? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I think what Governor Beshear said about this being an isolated event is true, but like, when do we get to stop talking about it? Can't we just focus on finding ways to prevent these things from happening in the first place? πŸ’‘ Maybe there's something we can learn from each other to keep our schools and communities safe 🀝.

😱 just heard about this... another school shooting πŸ€• is it like that movie 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' where Charlie is worried about people getting shot? 😟 i'm all for mental health awareness, we need to talk about why these things happen πŸ€” should be something the schools are addressing, not just law enforcement... 🚨 anyway, my condolences to those affected by this tragedy πŸ™ and in North Carolina too, that's so sad 😒 gotta keep our communities safe πŸ«πŸ’•

Man... these school shootings are just getting crazy 😩. I remember when my little cousins went to high school back in the day, it was all about hanging out with friends, playing sports, and studying for exams. Now it's like there's always some drama or violence brewing somewhere 🀯. And Kentucky State University is a real institution, not just some flyby shooting place πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, what happened there? Was it really an isolated incident as the governor said? I don't know, but one thing's for sure - these incidents are just too much πŸ’”. And another student getting killed at North Carolina's high school... that's just devastating 😭. Can we please get some answers here? πŸ€”

just saw this news about kentucky state university & my mind is blown lol what's going on with these school shootings?? 🀯 like can't we all just get along?? anyway, i was reading an article about gun control laws in the US & it's crazy how many different states have different rules. idk if that's a solution but i guess it's worth looking into πŸ’‘ [link to article](https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/15/us/gun-control-laws-explained/index.html) btw, this north carolina high school incident is also super sad πŸ€•

Wow 🀯 just when you think it can't get any worse πŸ˜” another school shooting... how many more have to happen before we learn our lesson? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean I'm glad no one else got hurt at Kentucky State but that's just a temporary reprieve. It's getting old seeing this stuff on the news, makes you wonder what's going through those ppl's minds 😩. And North Carolina too... it's like we're running out of options to keep these kids safe πŸ€• can't stress enough how sad and frustrating this is πŸ˜”

man this is getting crazy 🀯, it feels like every other day we're hearing about some school shooting or campus violence... i'm not saying that one guy at Kentucky State was definitely a mass shooter but still 2 people dead and a bunch of injuries ? how many more is it gonna take for us to have real change in our country? πŸ€” i mean governor Beshear said there's no ongoing threat but what if he doesn't know what's going on inside those campuses ? schools are supposed to be safe places, not war zones 🚫 and then you got this other incident at North Carolina's high school... it's like we're just waiting for the next thing to happen πŸ’” i'm all for security and safety but can't we find a way to make our communities safer without resorting to lockdowns and shooting ?

just watched this news and it's really sad πŸ€•. two more lives lost to senseless violence... kentucky state university and north carolina's high school, when will it end? πŸ™„ it's always the same - people getting hurt, innocent lives lost, and no one knows why... πŸ€” but what I do know is we gotta be more mindful of our actions, even small ones, can add up to make a big difference 😊.

Ugh man, this is getting outta control 🀯!! One school shooting after another, it's like we're just witnessing some kinda never ending nightmare 😩. Can't we all just get along?? πŸ™„ These kids should be able to go to school without worrying about being gunned down in the hallways. I'm so sick of this gun violence, it's like we're not taking it seriously enough πŸ’”. We need real change, not just empty condolences from politicians πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And what's with all these separate incidents? Is it just a coincidence that they're happening one after another? πŸ€” I'm all for keeping people safe, but come on, can't we do better than this? 😑

πŸ˜” just heard about this terrible stuff happening in the US πŸ€• it's like, what's going on? school shootings are like, so not okay 😑 we gotta be able to go to our schools without fear of getting hurt, you know? πŸ’” and another thing that gets me is how some people think violence can just be 'isolated' or whatever... nope, it's never just one person 🚫 it's always a big deal and affects so many people 🀝

Man, these school shootings are just getting outta control 🀯🚨! Like, what can we do to stop this? πŸ€” I'm all for gun laws and stuff, but I think it's also about mental health awareness and making sure our schools are safe spaces for everyone πŸ«πŸ’–. It's crazy that these students had to go through what they went through 😩. And yeah, the fact that there was another incident at a high school in NC is just devastating πŸŒͺοΈπŸ‘». We need to come together as a community and support each other during times like these πŸ’• #SchoolSafetyMatters #GunControlNow #MentalHealthAwareness

🀬 whats up with all these school shootings?! like i get it, tensions run high and stuff but can't people just chill? 1 person dead, another critical - that's 2 innocent lives lost already this week πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. and what's with the "isolated event" from the governor? does he not know that these things tend to happen in clusters or something? it's like we're living in a horror movie where kids are dying left and right πŸŽƒ. can't we just have a safe space for learning without all this violence? and what about the 2nd incident at that high school? how does that one get treated differently from Kentucky State? seems like our system is broken 😀.

Ughhh dont even get me started on this 🀯... like how can we just sit back and let these school shootings keep happening?! 🚫 1 person dead, 1 person critically injured... what's next?! πŸ€” I'm so sick of hearing that it was an "isolated event" or whatever the gov is saying. Like, isolated? How can something as senseless as a school shooting be isolated from being a huge deal?! 😑 The fact that both schools had these incidents on the same day just shows how messed up our society is. We need to do better than this, we have to prioritize the safety of our children and communities! πŸš¨πŸ’–

πŸ€” just saw this news about the shootings and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. One thing that's got me thinking is why we're labeling these incidents as "isolated events" even though they both happened on the same day? πŸ“† seems like a lot of coincidence, you know?

and what's up with law enforcement not having any surveillance footage or witnesses who can describe what happened before it escalated? I mean, I've seen some crazy stuff in my online browsing history but this is just...wow.

Just saw this news and it's crazy! I mean, two incidents like this in one day? It's like the universe is trying to tell us something 🀯. One thing that really got me is when they say it was an isolated event, but we all know how that goes down. Those "isolated events" can turn into dominoes if you're not careful. I'm not saying Kentucky or North Carolina aren't doing enough to prevent this stuff, but it's like we need to take a step back and think about what's really going on here πŸ€”.

And have you seen the governor's statement? It's all nice and reassuring, but is he just sugarcoating things? I mean, one death is already too much. What if there was more evidence of an ongoing threat? Shouldn't we be erring on the side of caution when it comes to something like this? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
