The National Football League (NFL) has announced it will be returning to Munich, Germany for two more seasons. The iconic Allianz Arena stadium will once again host regular-season games in 2026 and 2028.

This decision comes after the league successfully staged five international games at the same venue over the past four seasons. In 2022 and 2024, the arena hosted NFL matches, and last month Berlin played its first game, with the NFL set to return there in 2027 and 2029.

The partnership is seen as a significant boost for the league's growing fanbase in Germany, where over 20 million fans support American football. The country has been an important part of the NFL International Series, which aims to promote the sport globally.

For Munich, hosting games at Allianz Arena will continue to be an attractive opportunity, having already established itself as a major sports venue. In addition to its football reputation, the stadium is also known for hosting concerts and other international events.

NFL fixtures in 2026 are now set to include one game each in Melbourne, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Munich; London, England; and possibly Paris, France, at the Stade de France.

Ugh, this just shows how commercialized everything is nowadays . I mean, who cares about the games themselves? The league's all about raking in that cash, right? And it's not like they're investing in the teams or the fans... it's just a bunch of wealthy Americans playing for their buddies' sake . Munich gets to host some games and get all fancy with Allianz Arena, but what about the actual football fans who don't have a VIP pass ? The league's basically selling out its soul for a quick buck... *sigh*
