Three high school graduates accused of gang-raping a classmate at a party in Roselle are facing even more charges. Kevin Niemiec, Jon Clary II, and Zachary Mascolo, all 18 years old, were indicted last month on charges of kidnapping, unlawful restraint, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The men allegedly confined the 18-year-old woman against her will and prevented her from leaving a minivan where the assaults took place. The charges stem from an incident in December at a party hosted by the men, who are also St. Viator High School alumni.
Niemiec was arraigned Monday and pleaded not guilty. He is being held in jail with a Feb. 9 court date scheduled for his case. Clary II and Mascolo have pretrial releases pending their Jan. 27 court appearances.
All three men face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charges against them. The women have claimed that they were victims of a gang rape, according to law enforcement officials.
