A Marvel beat-'em-up, long-awaited survival horror and other new indie games worth checking out

A slew of late-blooming indie titles has debuted this week, with some finally making the cut into the game of the year conversations. Marvel Cosmic Invasion, developed by Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu, is one such title that's been a long time coming. This retro-style side-scrolling beat-'em-up takes its cue from the Marvel animated shows of the 1990s and offers an enjoyable experience largely due to its varied character roster.

Players can choose from a range of characters, each with their unique abilities, including Captain America, who excels at projectiles without ammo or cooldowns. The character swap system evokes tag games, allowing for seamless co-op play. While the game's depth is somewhat limited, its presentation is top-notch, making it worth playing.

Other notable releases include Routine, a retro-futuristic survival horror title from Lunar Software and Raw Fury that challenges players to explore a mysterious moon base without any clear objectives or hints. The game's immersive atmosphere is enhanced by its minimalistic approach to visuals and gameplay.

Sleep Awake, another first-person psychedelic horror game, deals with the consequences of sleep deprivation in a world where The HUSH makes anyone who falls asleep vanish. Developed by Eyes Out โ€“ a studio founded by Spec Ops: The Line director Cory Davis and Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck โ€“ this game promises to deliver a unique and unsettling experience.

Last but not least, there's Tingus Goose, an idiosyncratic body horror idle game that has players planting seeds in patients, bouncing babies for profit, and ascending surreal worlds. The game's trailer is both fascinating and baffling, so it'll be interesting to see if the final product lives up to its promise.

On the horizon are several upcoming indie titles, including Don't Stop, Girlypop!, a movement-focused arena shooter with an anti-capitalist twist; Limbot, a physics-based party game for solo or co-op play; and Zlin City: Arch Moderna, a diorama city builder inspired by historical events of the 1930s and '40s.

For those looking for something more relaxing, Log Away is a cozy cabin builder from The-Mark Entertainment that offers several environments to choose from and various decorations.

๐Ÿคฏ These new indie games are popping up left & right! Marvel Cosmic Invasion is like the cool uncle of retro games, all fun & varied chars ๐Ÿค–. Sleep Awake sounds super unsettling, like a fever dream ๐Ÿ˜ต. Can't wait to dive into Don't Stop & see if they can take on the system ๐Ÿ’ช. Anyways, I'm hyped for something chill too, Log Away's cabin builder vibes are my jam ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒฒ.

I'm still getting over the announcement of Tingus Goose ๐Ÿคช... I mean, have you seen that trailer?! It's like they're speaking my language or something ๐Ÿ˜‚. I need more info on that one ASAP! And what's up with the timing? We just got a bunch of awesome games and now we gotta wait for these new ones to drop? Can't it be like, all at once? ๐Ÿ˜’

But for real though, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is looking pretty solid. The character swap system sounds so much fun! I'm a huge fan of co-op play, and this seems like the perfect game to get my partner in crime into it. And Routine... I love retro-futuristic vibes ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. Survival horror games are always a blast (pun intended).

And don't even get me started on the upcoming releases ๐Ÿ˜†... Log Away sounds adorable! Who wouldn't want to build their own cozy cabin? ๐Ÿ  Can't wait to dive in and see what's up for those other games too!

I'm kinda stoked about all these new indie releases ๐Ÿคฉ. Marvel Cosmic Invasion seems like a lot of fun, I love the character swap system and the retro vibe ๐Ÿ‘. And Routine sounds super creepy, I mean who doesn't love a good survival horror game ๐Ÿ˜ฑ? Sleep Awake also has me curious, the idea of sleep deprivation in a world where you can't even sleep is just... weird ๐Ÿคฏ.

Tingus Goose, though, is just bizarre enough to pique my interest ๐Ÿ˜‚. I'm not sure what to make of it yet, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. Don't Stop and Girlypop! both sound like they could be a lot of fun, especially the anti-capitalist twist ๐Ÿค‘.

I also love the idea behind Log Away, building a cozy cabin sounds super relaxing ๐Ÿ˜Œ. And Zlin City: Arch Moderna looks really interesting, I'll have to check it out more later ๐Ÿ”.

Sleep Awake sounds like it's gonna be a wild ride, can't wait to see how The HUSH thing plays out ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ... Tingus Goose, idiosyncratic doesn't even begin to describe this game lol what's the deal with all those seeds and bouncing babies? ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ‘ถ... anyway, looking forward to Don't Stop being a social commentary in a shooter, that sounds super interesting ๐Ÿค”... also kinda stoked for Log Away if I'm gonna be a cabin builder extraordinaire ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ผ

I'm so over all these retro games flooding the market rn ๐Ÿ™„. Like, can't they just come up with something new for once? Marvel Cosmic Invasion is alright, I guess, but it's just a rehash of old stuff. And don't even get me started on Routine โ€“ who thought a game about exploring a creepy moon base without any objectives was a good idea? ๐Ÿ˜ด It sounds like a total snooze fest to me.

And have you seen the trailer for Tingus Goose? Like, what is this game supposed to be? Some kind of weird fever dream or something? ๐Ÿคช I'm not even sure if I want to play it just to see how baffling it is. And all these other games like that... Don't Stop, Girlypop! and Zlin City: Arch Moderna sound like they're trying too hard to be different. Can't we just have a normal game for once? ๐Ÿ™„

I'm so hyped about these new indie releases ๐Ÿคฉ! Routine has me intrigued too, that creepy atmosphere and minimalistic approach to visuals are giving me chills ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. And Sleep Awake? That's some next-level stuff, I've been following Cory Davis's work and Robin Finck's music, so I'm stoked to see what Eyes Out comes up with ๐Ÿคฏ.

Tingus Goose is just weird enough for me to be interested ๐Ÿ˜‚, I love body horror games and the idea of planting seeds in patients sounds like a wild ride. Ugh, I'm so glad someone's finally putting out some decent indie games ๐Ÿ™Œ! Marvel Cosmic Invasion looks like a blast from the past (in the best way possible) with its retro style and awesome character roster ๐Ÿค–. The fact that it has co-op play is a major plus, too - who doesn't love teaming up with friends to take down bad guys? ๐Ÿ’ช

And can we talk about how relaxing Log Away sounds? Building cozy cabins in the woods sounds like the ultimate chill activity ๐Ÿ˜Œ. I mean, who needs VR when you can just build a cabin and hang out with your Sims, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm also intrigued by Tingus Goose - its trailer is crazy weird, but sometimes that's all you need to get excited for a game ๐Ÿคช. And don't even get me started on the upcoming titles... Don't Stop sounds like an amazing arena shooter, and Zlin City: Arch Moderna has my historical doc major geeking out ๐Ÿ“š.

Okay, gotta go, but I'm totally looking forward to checking out these new games ๐Ÿ‘!

And Routine's minimalistic approach to visuals and gameplay is super relatable when life gets too much cluttered ๐Ÿคฏ. As for Sleep Awake, I think we can all learn from embracing our weirdness ๐ŸŒˆ. After all, it's okay to not be like everyone else - that's what makes life interesting! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Ugh, I'm getting so tired of these new releases coming out all at once ๐Ÿคฏ. Can't they space them out a bit? It's like, one week it's indie titles galore, and then suddenly there's another 5-6 games dropping. Don't get me wrong, some of the ones this week look pretty cool - Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a solid choice for retro fans ๐ŸŽฎ. But Routine sounds kinda scary, I'm not sure if I wanna play that ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. And what's up with all these weird genres? Body horror idle game? Is that even a thing now? ๐Ÿคช

I'm loving these new indie titles! ๐Ÿคฉ Reminds me of when I used to play classic side-scrollers with my friends back in the day ๐Ÿ’ฅ Marvel Cosmic Invasion looks so nostalgic, like something from the old Marvel cartoons ๐Ÿ˜Ž Captain America's projectiles sound like a total game-changer.
