Aston Villa: Unai Emery team are in Premier League title race - Chris Sutton

Aston Villa are in genuine contention for a top-four spot in the Premier League, according to former Newcastle United striker Chris Sutton. The 46-year-old, who currently serves as a pundit on BBC Sport, believes that Unai Emery's team has what it takes to secure a Champions League qualification.

Sutton praises Emery's ability to adapt his tactics and player positions mid-match, which has allowed Villa to climb up the table rapidly. He attributes this success to Emery's willingness to experiment and trust his players' instincts on the pitch.

As for Aston Villa's chances of winning the Premier League title, Sutton is cautiously optimistic. While he acknowledges that Manchester City and Liverpool will likely dominate the top spots, he believes that Villa can push them all the way.

"Villa are capable of going up another level," Sutton says in an interview with BBC Sport. "They've shown incredible resilience and determination throughout the season, which has allowed them to climb the table so rapidly."

Emery's tactical acumen and his ability to get the best out of his players have been key factors in Villa's resurgence, according to Sutton.

"Unai is a top manager who knows how to adapt his tactics mid-match," he says. "He's got a great understanding of his players' strengths and weaknesses, which allows him to make crucial substitutions that can turn the tide of a game."

While Aston Villa may not be in title contention just yet, Sutton believes that they have the potential to push for a Champions League spot.

"I think Villa are a top-four team," he says. "They've got the talent, the depth, and the determination to make it happen. It's going to be an exciting finish to the season."

In the end, it remains to be seen how Aston Villa will fare in the Premier League. But with Unai Emery at the helm and Chris Sutton singing their praises, it's clear that the Villans are a team on the rise.

I was saying this about Villa last month 🤔... they've got some decent talent upfront but defense is still a major concern for me. I think Emery's adaptability will be key to getting them past the top teams, but if they can't iron out those defensive issues, it'll be tough to push for top four 💡

🤔 you know what's crazy? i just tried this new coffee shop downtown and OMG it has the best latte art ever! i mean, i'm not even a coffee connoisseur but their barista is like a magician or something 🎨👍 anyway, back to villa... have you guys seen that new stadium they're building? it's supposed to be sick 😲

🌟 OMG I'm so stoked for Villa right now!!! 😍 They've been on this incredible run and I think they've got what it takes to push all the way to the top! Emery's coaching skills are insane, he knows exactly when to make those clever subs and adjust his game plan mid-match. It's not just about having a lot of talent, but how you use that talent is key. And Villa seem to be really clicking right now. 🤩 I think we might be in for an epic finish to the season! 🎉 Can't wait to see what happens next! 💥

I think this is really cool 🤩... if you're an Aston Villa fan, that is! They've definitely been on fire lately 🔥. I mean, who would've thought they'd be in contention for a top-four spot? It just goes to show that even the underdogs can achieve great things when they've got the right manager and team spirit 💪.

I love how Unai Emery's adapting his tactics mid-match - it's like he's always one step ahead of the game 🔄. And Chris Sutton makes some really good points about Villa's resilience and determination 🔑. Of course, it's still early days and there are a lot of games left to play, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on Aston Villa from now on 👀. They've got the potential to do something special this season...

I'm loving this Aston Villa resurgence! You know what's even more interesting though? The role of money and ownership in determining a team's success. I mean, if you look at all these top Premier League teams, like City and Liverpool, they're backed by massive financial resources. Can Aston Villa really compete with that? I think Emery's adaptability is key here - if he can keep Villa competitive despite having limited resources, then they've got a real shot. But let's be real, it's going to take more than just great tactics to overcome the gap in funding and talent. The question is, how far will this ownership change under Nassef Catenian go?

I'm loving this season so far! 😊 I think it's awesome that Aston Villa is having such a great run under Unai Emery. His ability to adjust his tactics mid-match has been super impressive and it's really paying off for the team. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a side with such depth and determination? 🤩 They're definitely pushing the top spots, even if they don't have all the talent like City and Liverpool right now. And that's what makes this season so exciting - anyone can win it! 🔥 Plus, it's always great to see old-school players like Chris Sutton coming out of retirement and sharing their expertise. He seems like a really knowledgeable guy who knows his stuff. Let's hope Villa keeps the momentum going and takes us all the way to the Champions League! ⚽

I think its gonna be close between Villa and those top two teams, but I gotta agree with Chris Sutton 🤩 they've been playing some great football lately and Emery's tactics have really paid off. Villa need to keep pushing though, can't let their guard down even for a sec 😬. Its always tough in the Prem, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out 💥.
