Gaming company is seeking nominations for landmarks to include in Philly edition of Monopoly

Local Landmarks Could Soon Take Center Stage in the Classic Game of Monopoly. Top Trumps USA, a gaming company that has already released 30 community versions of the game under license from Hasbro, is set to launch a Philadelphia edition later this fall.

As part of its production process, the company is now seeking nominations for landmarks, businesses, and nonprofits to be included on the board, with the deadline set to end in February. According to Tim Barney, a representative for Top Trumps, the goal is to create a game that's "very much made by and for the people." To achieve this, the company will consider public input, as well as factors like history, reputation, and community engagement.

The new edition of Monopoly is expected to feature unique properties and Chance cards tailored to Philadelphia culture. Barney hinted at incorporating colloquial expressions specific to the city, but ruled out adding iconic Philly symbols like cheesesteak tokens. Instead, classic game pieces such as the top hat and Scottie dog will remain intact.

Fans of Philadelphia's rich history may be heartened to learn that some properties have already been set in stone, including spots like Independence Hall and LOVE Park. Barney confirmed a visit to these locations during his research trip last year, although he remained tight-lipped on other destinations.

While the company has released local versions of Monopoly before – the 1996 edition being one notable example – this new production is seen as an opportunity for an update. With Philadelphia's ever-changing landscape and evolving culture, the game promises to strike a balance between nostalgia and innovation.

Ultimately, Top Trumps hopes to craft a love letter to the city, one that will resonate with residents on first glance. By incorporating local voices and landmarks, the company aims to create a Monopoly experience that feels truly at home in Philadelphia.

I'm low-key hyped about this new Philly edition of Monopoly 🀩! It's awesome that Top Trumps is giving us the chance to have our say on which landmarks and businesses make the cut 😊. I mean, who wouldn't want a piece of their fave spot in the game? Independence Hall and LOVE Park are already getting the nod – can't wait to see what other iconic spots get featured πŸ“Έ.

It's also cool that they're not just sticking with old-school tokens, but adding some local flair instead πŸ’‘. I'm all for it! Philly is all about its history and culture, so it's only right that our game pieces reflect that πŸ’•. One thing to keep an eye on is the Chance cards – fingers crossed they don't get too wacky or out of character πŸ˜‚.

Overall, this new edition of Monopoly has the potential to be a total hit πŸŽ‰. It's all about striking a balance between old and new, so I'm excited to see how it plays out πŸ’Έ. Bring on that Philly love letter – let's make some memories in our own board game! 😊

I'm so stoked about this new Philly edition of Monopoly 🀩! I mean, who wouldn't want to see their favorite spots from Center City on the board? I've spent countless hours playing the classic game with my friends and family, but it's always felt a bit generic. Adding in real-life landmarks like LOVE Park and Independence Hall is gonna give it so much more character πŸŒ†. And can you imagine seeing colloquial expressions like "Philly cheesesteak" on the Chance cards? 🀣 It's just gonna be so cool to see our city come to life in a game I've loved for years.

I'm also loving that Top Trumps is trying to involve the community in this new edition. Getting nominations from locals and incorporating their ideas is such a great way to make sure the game feels authentic. And, let's be real, who wouldn't want to see iconic Philly symbols like cheesesteak tokens on the board? πŸ˜‚ Just kidding, I think it's cool that classic pieces are staying intact.

Overall, this new Philly edition of Monopoly has me super hyped πŸŽ‰! It's gonna be a great way for us Philadelphians to show off our city and share it with the world.

I'm kinda stoked about this new Philly edition of Monopoly! 🀩 It's awesome that Top Trumps is giving locals a chance to shape the game by nominating their fave spots and businesses. That way, it'll feel super authentic and relatable for people from around the city.

Adding in some colloquial expressions specific to Philly will be sick too! πŸ˜† I hope they don't mess up the classic pieces though - the top hat and Scottie dog are iconic! πŸΎπŸ’Ό

I love that they're considering public input, it's great to see Hasbro giving back to the community in a meaningful way. Who knows, maybe we'll even get some new, unique tokens that reflect Philly's eclectic vibe? πŸ”₯ Wouldn't that be awesome?!

Ugh, I'm like totally excited about this Philly edition of Monopoly 🀣! But can we talk about how they're gonna make sure all the info is accurate? Like, what's the deal with Independence Hall already having a spot set in stone? Did they consult with actual historians or something?

And honestly, incorporating colloquial expressions sounds like a great idea, but wouldn't it be awesome if they included some Philly-specific tokens that aren't just random stuff? I mean, cheesesteak tokens would've been fire 🀯! But noooo, classic game pieces have to stay intact. Boring.

But seriously, I'm stoked to see what they come up with. It's cool that the company is listening to public input and trying to create a love letter to Philly. Fingers crossed they don't mess it up πŸ˜….

Just what Philly needs more Monopoly money πŸ’ΈπŸ˜‚ but seriously, can't wait for this new edition, love the idea of adding colloquial expressions πŸ€” and I'm stoked to see Independence Hall on the board πŸŽ‰πŸ‘

man i love this idea 🀩 top trumps usa is doing philly justice by getting the community involved. its gonna be dope to see some local business & landmarks on the board πŸ“ˆ can u imagine seeing a mini loves park or pat's king of steaks on the game piece? πŸš€ independence hall tho, thats a great choice πŸ‘ its cool that theyre trying to balance nostalgia and innovation, wont be weird to see a new version of philly but still feel like home 🏠 hope they do get some awesome colloquial expressions too, cant wait for this edition! πŸ’₯

Wow! 🀩 I think it's really cool that they're letting the public help decide which landmarks make it into the game. It's gonna be awesome to see iconic spots like Independence Hall on the board, and I'm curious to know what other places are going to get included πŸ€”. The fact that they want to balance nostalgia with innovation is a great idea, and I love that classic game pieces will still be part of it πŸ‘. Can't wait to see how this Philly edition turns out! πŸ˜„

I think it's dope that Top Trumps is letting the community decide which Philly spots make the cut 🀩. I mean, who doesn't love seeing their fave local hangouts on the Monopoly board? Independence Hall and LOVE Park are awesome choices - can't wait to see 'em come to life in the game! The fact they're listening to public input is a big thumbs up from me πŸ‘. It's gonna be sick to have Philly culture all over the classic game pieces too πŸ’―. Can't wait for the new edition to drop and show off what we love about the city πŸŽ‰

πŸ˜’ I'm not sure about this new Philly edition of Monopoly... I mean, don't get me wrong, it's cool that they're trying to involve locals and add unique properties, but have you seen the price of everything in Philly lately? Like, what if you buy that one property and then it goes up in value by like 500%? Game over! πŸ€‘

And what's with the lack of cheesesteak tokens? I know they said classic game pieces would stay the same, but come on, Philly is famous for its cheesesteaks... it feels like a missed opportunity. And don't even get me started on the Chance cards - are they gonna be all about traffic and parking in Philly or what? πŸš—

I guess what I'm saying is that while I love the idea of a community-driven Monopoly, I need to know more about how it's actually gonna work before I shell out my cash for this new edition. Maybe they should include some player-controlled properties or something? Just saying...

omg can't wait for this new philly monopoly edition πŸ€©πŸŽ‰! it's dope that they're letting fans get involved with nominations πŸ“πŸ’¬ i mean who wouldn't wanna see our city's landmarks on the board? independence hall & love park are already set, but i'm curious about which other spots will make the cut πŸ€” history buffs & philly locals alike will be hyped about this update πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
