Lutsharel Geertruida: Liverpool in talks to sign defender on loan

Liverpool FC are reportedly in talks to sign Dutch defender Lutsharel Geertruida on loan. The 25-year-old is currently plying his trade at Sunderland, where he joined on a temporary deal from RB Leipzig earlier this year.

Geertruida, who has also played for Feyenoord in the past, is said to be one of several defensive options being scouted by Liverpool. His versatility, which allows him to play at right-back, centre-back and as a defensive midfielder, makes him an attractive prospect for Jurgen Klopp's side.

However, talks are complicated by Sunderland's situation, with three teams - including Liverpool - vying for Geertruida's services. The club is currently without key players Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong, who are both out injured, while Ibrahima Konate's contract expires this summer.

I'm not sure how Liverpool will manage to pull off a deal for Geertruda, considering they're already dealing with some injuries on their own squad . I'm not sure if Liverpool are making a huge mistake by trying to sign Geertruida on loan... I mean, what's the worst that could happen, right?
