OH MY GOSH!!! I am beyond thrilled for Alison Lester!!!!!! She totally deserves this win with Magic Beach being such an iconic and timeless book It's amazing to see how it still resonates with kids and adults alike after all these years The fact that she was born in Walkerville South, Victoria where the beach is featured, must be a dream come true for her And can we talk about how humble and down-to-earth she is? I LOVE that she wants to share the prize with fellow authors!

I just heard about Alison Lester's book 'Magic Beach' winning the top spot in Guardian Australia's poll and I gotta say it's awesome! I've had this book since I was a kid and it always brings back memories of summertime adventures at the beach with my own family. The watercolour style is so beautiful and the story is just magical (pun intended ). It's no surprise that it took the top spot, especially after seeing all the other amazing books in the final round. I'm glad Alison Lester got to experience her win while visiting Magic Beach itself - that must've been a dream come true! Maybe now she'll get to celebrate with a swim at the beach and share the prize with fellow authors, too... that sounds like so much fun .
