Naked Comedy Show returns to Center City with nude stand-up on Valentine’s Day

For those seeking a Valentine's Day experience that defies convention, Philadelphia is set to host two sold-out shows of "The Naked Comedy Show" on February 14th. Hosted by comedian Billy Procida, this body-positive stand-up series has been wowing audiences with its unique format since its debut in March last year.

For those who may be unfamiliar, the show features fully nude performers taking center stage, with a focus squarely on their comedy routines rather than their attire. Rather than sensationalizing nudity, the event treats it as neutral, promoting body positivity and self-acceptance.

The audience, too, is asked to participate in this unique experience, covering up private areas and putting away phones during the performance. This emphasis on respect for all participants ensures a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.

With two shows scheduled – one at 7 p.m. and another at 9 p.m., both running approximately 75 minutes each – fans of unconventional comedy will have ample opportunity to experience this groundbreaking event. The Naked Comedy Show is just the latest addition to its already sold-out run in Philadelphia, with similar events also running monthly in New York City and Los Angeles.

Don't miss your chance to celebrate Valentine's Day in style – or lack thereof. Mark your calendars for February 14th at The Velvet Whip Arts & Social Club, located at 319 N 11th St., Philadelphia, PA 19107, for two unforgettable nights of comedy with a twist.

I mean, I'm all about being open-minded and trying new things, but this Naked Comedy Show thing is definitely not my cup of tea 🤣. I can appreciate the message of body positivity and self-acceptance, but to be honest, I'm still not sure how comfortable I'd feel watching a bunch of people performing naked on stage 😳. And don't even get me started on having to cover up private areas... that sounds like way too much effort for just a comedy show 🤦‍♀️. Give me a good old-fashioned rom-com any day, especially around Valentine's Day when I'm supposed to be feeling all the love and affection 😊. Still, if you're into that sorta thing, I guess it could be kinda interesting... in a weird way? 🤔

I gotta say, I'm both stoked and totally down with this "Naked Comedy Show" thingy 🤯👀. Like, who doesn't love a good laugh, right? But at the same time, I'm also thinking that maybe it's just a bit too much... like, do we really need to see people naked on stage for comedy? 🤔 I mean, can't they just wear funny costumes or something? And what about all those people who might be uncomfortable with nudity? Shouldn't the focus be on making everyone feel included and respected? 🙅‍♀️💁‍♀️ But hey, if it's working for people, then more power to 'em! I guess it just depends on how you look at it... 🤷‍♂️

Think about it 🤔... how many times in life do we judge ourselves or others based on something as superficial as clothes? It's like, can't we just let go and appreciate each other for who we are, right? This Naked Comedy Show is all about breaking free from societal norms and embracing our true selves. And you know what? I think that's the key to true happiness 🌈. We need more events like this that promote self-love and acceptance. Let's celebrate our uniqueness and individuality, flaws and all 💖!

You know what got me thinking about this whole thing... is that we're living in a time where the lines between what's considered 'normal' and what's not are being blurred so fast? Like, we're forced to confront our own biases and assumptions when it comes to things like nudity on stage. And I think that's kinda cool, you know? It's like... we're being asked to see the world in a different way, to question our initial reactions and consider the intentions behind these unconventional events. And what does that say about us as a society, right? Are we willing to challenge ourselves, to grow and learn from others' perspectives? Or are we gonna stick with what we know and love (i.e. boring old conventional comedy shows)?

Ugh, I'm kinda surprised they're making a big deal about this 🙄... it's just comedy, right? And, honestly, I don't get why everyone needs to make such a huge production out of body positivity - it feels like the whole event is trying too hard to be edgy. I mean, what's wrong with people having fun and laughing together without all the fuss? And, let's be real, some guys just aren't gonna be comfortable seeing nudity on stage, no matter how "empowering" they claim it is 🤔... but hey, if you're into that sorta thing, go for it!

ive gotta say, i'm all about trying new things and challenging the status quo 🤪... and this Naked Comedy Show sounds like just that! i mean, who says nudity has to be awkward or uncomfortable? it's actually kind of liberating to see people owning their bodies and having a laugh together 💁‍♀️. i love how they're focusing on comedy over titillation - it's all about the laughs, not the bits we're trying to ignore 😉. as long as everyone involved is feeling good and respected, then i say bring on the nude comedy shows! 🎉

🤔 so its like they want to play with our expectations of valentines day rite? have we become so desensitized to nudity that we can just watch people go around naked on stage and think its funny? and is it really about body positivity or is it more about shocking ppl into thinking differently about nudity?

also, why do u need 2 shows? cant they just stick with one? does that mean the first show sells out faster than expected? 🤑

🤔 think it's kinda interesting how we're all so focused on 'celebrating' V-Day with fancy gifts and romantic dinners... meanwhile, Philly's got this awesome naked comedy show that's all about embracing our weirdness and loving ourselves just the way we are 🌈💖. no pressure, just good vibes and some laugh-out-loud jokes 😂.

omg i think its kinda cool that they're using valentines day to promote body positivity 🤗! i mean who says u cant celebrate love and self acceptance by embracing ur own awesomeness? 😎 the fact that they're keeping it all about the comedy and not sensationalizing nudity is really refreshing. i wish more events would take a page out of their book and focus on creating a safe space for everyone to be themselves 🌈

idk why ppl gotta go full nude on stage tho 🤷‍♂️ but i guess its about bein body pos & self accepted? 🤝 and ppl coverin up their bits and puttin away phones is a nice touch, makes u feel more at ease 😌 the show sounds kinda funny actually, like a weird mix of comedy and awkwardness 🤣 might just have to check it out on v day 👀

I'm not sure about this one... I mean, I love that they're promoting body positivity and self-acceptance, but are we really comfortable enough to go fully nude in public? 🤔👀 I think it's one thing for the performers to be confident and comfortable with their bodies, but for the audience to have to cover up and leave our phones behind might be a bit much. I'm not saying I'd never attend an event like this, but I think some people might feel really uncomfortable or even objectified. Maybe it's just me, but I'd need to see more about how they're handling consent and respect for all participants before I'd consider going 🤷‍♀️💁‍♀️

Omg I'm so down for this!!! 🤩 The Naked Comedy Show is literally the most unique and refreshing thing I've seen in ages! Who cares about clothes when you can laugh your ass off? 😂 I love that they're promoting body positivity and self-acceptance, it's like, totally on point. And I gotta say, I'm a bit curious to see how the audience reacts when they're all covered up... is it gonna be awkward or will people just get into it? 🤔 Either way, I'm in! My fave comedian Billy Procida better come through with some solid jokes 😂👍
