Bath thrashed Sale 60-19 to boost their hopes of securing a play-off spot in the Prem Rugby Cup, thanks in large part to Dan Frost's hat-trick of tries. The hooker, who had been instrumental in Bath's dominance throughout the match, scored all three of his tries from the back of the maul and was backed up by impressive performances from Arthur Green and George Timmins.
The Sharks' defence looked stretched at times, allowing the visiting pack to power over for try after try. Frost was the star man, however, as he took his tally to 11 points with a hat-trick that included two tries from the back of the maul. His treble was completed when he burst through a gap in the Sale defence just before halftime.
Sale fought hard to get back into the game, but Bath's forwards were too strong and they dominated possession for much of the match. The home side scored four tries through Nathan Jibulu and Albert Bradshaw, but it was not enough to stop Bath from winning comfortably.
The win moves Bath up to third place in Group A, while Sale remain in sixth spot. Frost's hat-trick has put him at the top of the try-scoring table, and his impressive performance will give the Bath coaching team food for thought as they prepare for their next match.
In contrast to Frost's dominant display, Arthur Green was also on the scoresheet with two tries, while George Timmins registered a swift double. Charlie Griffin, Jason Spandler, and debutant Tyler Mason all added to the try tally, which stood at 10 before Will Muir set up Mason to take it to 11.
The final move of the game came when Albert Bradshaw pulled one back for Sale with just minutes left on the clock, but it was too little, too late.
