Ride out the rest of the snowy season in style at these Michigan events - Detroit Metro Times

Bundling up is a must when winter arrives in metro Detroit, but there are plenty of fun and frosty events to enjoy. From festive festivals to unique attractions, the city has something for everyone.

Downtown Detroit's picturesque ice rink at Campus Martius Park is open until March, making it an ideal spot for skating under the stars or with a warm cup of hot chocolate in hand. Named the "No. 1 Best Ice Skating Rink" by USA Today 10Best, this attraction is a must-visit during the cold winter months.

For car enthusiasts and those interested in innovation, the Detroit Auto Show at Huntington Place is an unmissable event. After returning to its traditional January dates, the show offers immersive exhibits, hands-on experiences, and interactive displays that showcase the latest trends in automotive technology and design.

In addition to these main events, there are numerous other festivals and activities throughout the region, such as Fire & Ice Festival: Winter at Valade, Zehnder's Snowfest, Plymouth Ice Festival, Southfield Winter Festival, Shiver on the River, Lake Orion Ice Fest, Berkley Winterfest, Rouge Park Winterfest, Polar Plunge, Cupid’s Undie Run, Lunar New Year Celebration: Winter at Valade, Waterford Fireworks & Flannels Night Out, 73rd Annual Autorama, and World of Winter.

For fans of hot rods, the 73rd Annual Autorama is a highlight. The event showcases custom rides competing for the coveted Ridler Award and features celebrity guests, while music lovers can enjoy performances from dozens of local acts at the Hamtramck Blowout festival.

Meanwhile, in Grand Rapids, the World of Winter festival offers art installations, light shows, and other activities that celebrate the beauty of winter. With something for everyone, metro Detroit's winter season promises to be an exciting one.

omg u guys dont forget 2 bundle up when ur at Campus Martius Park ice rink in downtown detroit! its literally a must-visit during winters and its even named no1 best ice skating rink 🤩😎. i personally love the atmosphere there, especially under the stars with hot chocolate in hand ❄️☕

I'm a bit skeptical about all these festivals and events. Like, what's really going on here? People just flocking to ice rinks and car shows in the middle of winter? It seems like a total waste of time and money. I mean, how many times can you watch cars drive around a track before it gets old? And what about the cold weather? Can't we all just stay indoors and binge-watch Netflix or something? 🤷‍♂️ The fact that these events are attracting so much attention just goes to show that people are really eager to spend their hard-earned cash on overpriced tickets and mediocre food.

just got back from campus martius park and the ice rink is insane! 🤩 they have so many cool exhibits and you can even grab a hot chocolate and enjoy it on the rink while skating 😊 i'm thinking of going again next week with my squad 👫 we're gonna try to set a new record for most laps done in one hour lol

man, have you ever been to detroit in winter? 🤣 it's like a whole different city! but for real, there are so many cool things to do and see during the holiday season... like that ice skating rink at campus martius park, it's like a magical wonderland under the stars ❄️. and the detroit auto show is insane, all those cars and tech and design on one floor... it's like the future of driving right before your eyes 🚗.

and i love how there are so many other festivals and events happening around the city, from fire & ice to polar plunge... it feels like everyone's having a blast winter wonderland vibes 😄. and grand rapids has its own world of winter festival, which looks super cool with all those art installations and light shows 🎨.

anyway, metro detroit in winter is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area... just make sure to bundle up warm! ☕

I'm so over this whole 'ice rink' thing... I mean, it's cool and all, but can't they just make a sick virtual reality experience instead? Like, imagine skating on a digital ice rink with zero chill (get it?)! That's the kinda innovation we need in metro Detroit!

ugh i wish my kid would just bundle up already lol every year its a struggle getting them to wear warm clothes in this cold weather 🤣 they need some hot cocoa and a nice pair of skates ASAP so we can hit that campus martius park ice rink, cant wait to see all the festive decorations and twinkly lights ✨ gotta get my kid to try their hand at building a model car too for the detroit auto show, sounds like a fun hands-on experience 🚗🎉

Omg yall gotta hit up the Ice Rink at Campus Martius Park ASAP 🎅🏻❄️! It's literally the best place to chill (literally) with friends and family during the cold winter months 😂. And can we talk about the Detroit Auto Show? I'm low-key obsessed with all the sick rides 🚗💥. But what really gets me is how many awesome events they have lined up in metro Detroit this winter 🎉! From Fire & Ice Festival to Polar Plunge, there's something for every kind of person 🤔. And if you're a car enthusiast like me, Autorama is a must-see 🔥. On the other hand, Grand Rapids' World of Winter festival looks super lit 💃🏻. Who else is hyped for this winter season? 🎉💫
