The Muppet Show review – we all deserve a brief bit of happiness right now

The Muppet Show Special is a feel-good spectacle that attempts to recapture the whimsical magic of the beloved 1970s-80s series. However, this one-off special falls short of truly transporting audiences back to the era of Jim Henson's iconic creations.

The cast of colorful characters, including Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and Kermit, are all there, but their interactions often feel shallow and contrived. The script is heavy on dated references and jokes that may elicit a chuckle from those who grew up with the Muppets, but will likely fall flat for newer viewers.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy of this special is the uneven quality that permeates it. While some sketches, such as Miss Piggy's hilarious exchange with Sabrina Carpenter, show flashes of the old Muppet spirit, others feel like lazy pastiches or awkward attempts at relevance. The tone is all over the place, veering wildly from slapstick humor to saccharine sentimentality.

It's clear that the special was made in haste, with a desire to capitalize on the nostalgia of older viewers and introduce the Muppets to a new generation. While this effort has some merit, it ultimately results in a disjointed viewing experience that fails to deliver on its promise of whimsical wonder.

And yet, despite its flaws, The Muppet Show Special remains an endearing, if forgettable, treat. It's a fleeting moment of joy, a brief respite from the darkness and uncertainty of our times. If nothing else, it will entertain children for half an hour and introduce them to the inimitable Miss Piggy – a gift that's hard to deny.

The special's greatest disappointment lies in its inability to recapture the magic of the original series. The absence of Jim Henson himself is keenly felt, particularly in Kermit's voice, which now sounds jarringly different to audiences accustomed to Steve Whitmire's or even Henson's iconic performance. Perhaps only die-hard fans will notice this difference, but it's a small price to pay for the opportunity to revisit the Muppets' world.

As we navigate these uncertain times, The Muppet Show Special offers a welcome respite from the gloom. It may not be perfect, but it's a reminder that even in the darkest of days, there's always room for a little bit of silliness and joy. And if nothing else, it's a testament to the enduring power of the Muppets' irreverent spirit – an unshakeable optimism that we can all learn from.

I dunno about this special 🤔. It feels like they're trying too hard to cash in on our nostalgia. I mean, I love Kermit and Miss Piggy as much as the next person, but their interactions feel forced and lacking in depth. The jokes are all over the place - some of them were actually kinda funny, but others just fell flat 🙄. And what's up with the uneven quality? Some sketches are hilarious, while others are just meh 😐. I guess it's cute that they're trying to introduce the Muppets to a new generation, but it feels like they're sacrificing some of the magic in the process. The special's got its moments, but overall, I'd say it's more of a guilty pleasure than a truly unforgettable experience 👎

I mean, think about it... the special's uneven quality is kinda like our politics right now 🤔. You got your fans who are super into it, but then you got others who feel it doesn't quite live up to the original. It's like we're living in a time where everyone's trying to capitalize on nostalgia, but sometimes that just feels like pandering 🤑.

And can we talk about Kermit's voice? That's like the equivalent of our politicians changing their tune mid-term 🗳️. One day it's all about the Muppets, the next day it's about being relevant again. It's like, dude, make up your mind! 🤷‍♂️

But seriously, The Muppet Show Special might not be perfect, but it's still a reminder that even in tough times, we can find some joy and silliness to hold onto 😊. And isn't that what politics should be about? Finding common ground and bringing people together, rather than tearing them apart 💕? 🤔

🤔 I'm so torn about this special... on one hand, it's like they took every Muppet fan's childhood memories and put them in a blender 🍹. The nostalgia is real, and I loved seeing all the old characters together again 👫. But at the same time, I feel like they phoned it in 📞. The jokes are cheesy, the script is weak, and some of the sketches just felt like lazy rips off of old classics 🤣.

And don't even get me started on the tone... it's all over the place 🌈. One minute you're laughing at a funny sketch, the next you're crying at a sentimental scene 😭. It's like they didn't know what kind of show they were making 🤷‍♀️.

I guess my biggest disappointment is that it doesn't really feel like "the Muppet Show" to me 📺. I mean, Jim Henson's not here, and the whole thing just feels a bit...off 🔮. But at the same time, I'm glad they're trying to introduce the Muppets to new fans 👶.

Overall, it's a fun little treat that will make you smile 😊, even if it doesn't entirely deliver on its promise of whimsical wonder 🌟.

the thing is, i loved watching muppet show when i was a kid 🤣... but this special feels like something they whipped up in like, 2 days 🕰️? i mean, it's not bad or anything, but its just so... lazy 🤪. and that tone, man... its all over the place 😂. but, at the end of the day, its still got that special muppet magic ✨... and who doesn't love miss piggy?! 💁‍♀️

I gotta say, I'm not buying this special just 'cause they threw Kermit's voice around willy-nilly 🤑. It's like they were trying to cash in on nostalgia instead of creating something new and pure. The whole thing feels like a messy mashup of old and new, kinda like when they tried to merge the Muppets with Marvel... didn't work out too well 🤖. And don't even get me started on Sabrina Carpenter being involved – what's up with that? It just feels like an attempt to pander to a younger crowd instead of making something genuinely fun for everyone. The whole thing is like a weird puzzle that doesn't quite fit together...

🤔 I mean, I guess it's nice that they tried to bring back the magic of The Muppet Show, but this special feels like it was made by a team of enthusiastic 5-year-olds who just threw a bunch of colorful characters at the wall and hoped something stuck 🎨. The jokes are all over the place and most of them fall flat, and don't even get me started on Kermit's voice... it's like someone poured a different personality into that poor guy's head 👀. But hey, who am I to deny kids 30 minutes of entertainment and an introduction to Miss Piggy? It's not like we have enough bad TV in the world already 📺.

I gotta say, I went in with high hopes for this special but was kinda underwhelmed 🤔🎉. The cast is great, don't get me wrong, but some of the jokes fell flat on me 😂. I mean, who thought it'd be a good idea to have Sabrina Carpenter as Kermit's love interest? Not my thing 🙅‍♂️. And what's up with the tone? One minute we're laughing at Gonzo's antics, next we're crying over Miss Piggy's drama 💔. It feels like they were trying to check all the old Muppet boxes without actually putting in the work.

That being said, it's not a total waste of time 📺. The kids will probably love it, and it's always fun to see Kermit's voice again 🐸. But for me, it felt like a watered-down version of what we used to get from the original show 🌊. Maybe I'm just old-school, but I miss Jim Henson's presence and that special something he had 💫.

Still, it's heartwarming to see the Muppets still bringing joy to people's lives 🎉. Even if this special isn't perfect, it's a reminder of what makes them so lovable – their silly antics and irreverent spirit 😂👏.

I dunno man... I mean, I'm glad they tried to make this special happen, but it just felt like a bunch of random sketches strung together 🤔. I loved the Muppets growing up, but this one didn't quite hit the mark for me. They had some funny bits with Sabrina Carpenter and all, but overall it was just so... uneven ⏱️. And yeah, it's clear they were trying to appease both old fans and new ones at the same time, which is a tough balance to strike 🤝.

But hey, I can still appreciate its intentions ❤️. It's not like it's a total disaster or anything. The Muppets are still lovable, even if this special isn't perfect 😊. And let's be real, what's not to love about Miss Piggy? She's still got that sass and charm 💁‍♀️. So yeah, it's not the best thing ever, but it's a decent watch for some light entertainment 📺.

I just watched this new Muppet special 🤣🎉 and I'm still trying to figure out what to think about it? Like, it's okay, I guess. They got some of the old gang back together and it was fun seeing Miss Piggy be her usual fabulous self 💁‍♀️. But at the same time, it felt like they were trying too hard to fit in all these modern references that just didn't land for me 😐. And don't even get me started on Kermit's voice - I'm a total Muppet baby and I still can't believe Jim Henson isn't around anymore 🤯💔. I mean, it was nice of them to include Sabrina Carpenter in the special though! 👍

🤔 the problem with these reboots is that they're trying too hard to recapture the past instead of forging their own path 📺 some things are best left alone, like jim henson's original vision 💡

The Muppet Show Special feels like a nostalgic throwback, but it doesn't quite transport you back to the 70s & 80s magic 🤔💭. The cast is there, but their interactions feel shallow, and the script relies too much on dated references that might just make newer viewers cringe 😳. It's clear they wanted to capitalize on nostalgia, but it comes at the cost of quality - it's disjointed and uneven, veering wildly between slapstick humor and saccharine sentimentality 🤪.

I think my biggest issue is that it doesn't truly capture the essence of Jim Henson's creations 💔. The absence of his voice as Kermit is noticeable, especially for old-timers who grew up with Steve Whitmire or Henson himself 🎤. Still, it's not all bad - kids will enjoy it, and Miss Piggy fans will love her 😊. As we're dealing with some pretty heavy stuff right now, it's nice to have a lighthearted treat that still manages to bring a bit of joy 💫.

idk wut i'm s'posed 2 say about dis new muppet show special lol 🤷‍♂️ its like they're tryna cash in on nostalgia but honestly, it's just not the same as watchin jim henson himself do his thang. the cast is fun n all, but the skits r pretty meh & the jokes fall flat 4 anyone whos not a 80s kid 🤦‍♂️ plus, kermit sounds diff w/o jim henson's voice lol 🎤 still, its cute n all, & who doesnt love miss piggy? 🐖 but overall, it's just a lazy attempt 2 recapture the magic of the original series. give me a break 🙄

I think this special is like a fun surprise party for old Muppet fans 🎉, but maybe not as cohesive as you'd hope. I mean, some bits are hilarious, like Miss Piggy's chat with Sabrina Carpenter 😂, and it's awesome to see the classic gang back together again. But others feel kinda... meh. Like, Kermit's voice just isn't the same without Jim Henson 🤔. And yeah, the tone is all over the place – one minute slapstick, next minute super sentimental. Still, I think what it shows us most is that even when things get tough, a little bit of silliness and joy can go a long way 💛.
