This Record Store Day, Revisit the Grateful Dead's Stellar 1976 Boston Show

The Grateful Dead's Stellar 1976 Boston Show Hits Vinyl on Record Store Day

Record Store Day has unveiled its annual release list, featuring over 350 titles across various genres and artists. Among the gems is a live album from the legendary band Grateful Dead, captured at their iconic show in Boston Music Hall on June 11, 1976.

This new release marks the fifth show of the band's comeback tour that year, where they were firing on all cylinders. The setlist spans classics like "Scarlet Begonias" and "Brown-Eyed Women," as well as newer material and reworked arrangements of their early hits. This iteration, with the return of drummer Mickey Hart, is considered one of the most powerful and precise versions of the band to date.

The album was mastered by Jeffrey Norman and produced by David Lemieux, the band's archivist. A limited edition of 7,600 copies has been pressed on 180-gram vinyl, featuring tape restoration and speed correction. The new iteration is a testament to the Dead's renewed focus on their vocals, which have never sounded as great as they did in June 1976.

Record Store Day takes place on April 18 this year, with Bruno Mars serving as ambassador. This release comes ahead of the band's first Record Store Day releases following guitarist Bob Weir's passing last month. The Grateful Dead will also release their collaboration with Dogfish Brewery, On The Back Porch Vol. 3.

The Boston Music Hall live album has been divided into five LPs and features an impressive setlist that showcases the band's range and versatility during this pivotal period in their comeback tour.

OMG, like, I'm so stoked they're re-releasing this iconic show on vinyl! I mean, 1976 was literally the peak of the Grateful Dead's comeback tour and it shows in this album 🤩. The fact that Mickey Hart is back on drums makes all the difference - their energy is just infectious! And can we talk about how great their vocals sound on this record? It's like they're performing live right in my living room 💥. I'm totally getting this limited edition 7,600 copy for myself, it's going to be a total collector's item 🎉. And it's cool that Record Store Day is giving us these exclusive releases ahead of the band's other stuff... can't wait to dive into On The Back Porch Vol. 3 with Dogfish Brewery!

The Grateful Dead is back! Like, for real this time 🤩 I'm hyped to hear a new release from them, especially since it's from one of their most iconic shows. June 11th, 1976, at the Boston Music Hall... that's some serious history right there 🔥. And can we talk about how great Mickey Hart is back on drums? The dude brought so much energy to those performances 🎸.

I'm all about supporting Record Store Day and this release is definitely going to be a must-have for any Deadhead 🤪. I love that it's been mastered by Jeffrey Norman and produced by David Lemieux, too - that's some serious expertise right there 💯. Limited edition on 180-gram vinyl with tape restoration? Yes, please! 💖

I'm so stoked to hear about this new Grateful Dead release for Record Store Day 🤩! I mean, who doesn't love a good live album, right? It's like capturing the energy of an epic school concert on vinyl... you know, when the whole band comes together and it just works magic ✨. And the fact that they were firing on all cylinders during this comeback tour is pretty lit 🔥. I've been listening to their older stuff in history class (we're studying the 60s and 70s right now) and this new release sounds like it's going to be a game-changer for fans. The setlist looks awesome too - "Scarlet Begonias" and "Brown-Eyed Women" are two of my fave songs ever 😆. Can't wait to check out the limited edition vinyl, but also kinda bummed that I won't have time to go to any Record Store Day events this year... school's been crazy 📚😩

🎵 Ah, I think its cool how this new release is like a reminder to appreciate the good times when they come around. The Grateful Dead was on fire that Boston show back in 1976, just like our lives can get really energized when we're going through something amazing with friends and loved ones. You know, life's too short to miss out on those special moments, so make sure you're there for the good stuff! And it sounds like this release has been given some extra love by mastering engineers Jeffrey Norman and David Lemieux – I reckon that's what happens when people are passionate about preserving memories and keeping them alive for others. 💖

I'm so stoked for this release! The fact that they're re-releasing this iconic show on vinyl is a total dream come true 🙌. I mean, who wouldn't want to own a piece of music history? The setlist looks insane too - all the classics plus some newer stuff... it's like a greatest hits album in one box 📦.

I love how they've taken the time to master and produce this release, it sounds like it was meant to be heard on vinyl. 180-gram is the way to go for me, you can't beat that kind of sound quality 💡. And I'm glad they're including some tape restoration and speed correction - that's what sets a great re-release apart from just another one 🎵.

It's also super cool that this release comes ahead of Bob Weir's passing and the upcoming collaborations with Dogfish Brewery... it feels like a way to keep his memory alive, you know? 💔

OMG I just found out about this!!! 🤯 I'm still trying to get my hands on vinyl, but if it's a 180-gram pressing with tape restoration and speed correction... I'll make sure to cop it ASAP! 💸 The return of Mickey Hart is such a big deal for me - their drumming is what made the Grateful Dead's live shows truly unforgettable. And can we talk about how great Bruno Mars is as an ambassador for Record Store Day? He's always been super supportive of the music scene 🎵. I'm kinda bummed they're releasing this now, though... it feels like the perfect gift from the band to their fans, especially with Bob Weir's passing last month 😔
