Wilfried Nancy: Celtic close to appointing Columbus Crew manager

Celtic on Brink of Historic Appointment as Wilfried Nancy Set to Replace Rodgers.

Celtic is closing in on historic appointment of manager Wilfried Nancy, the French-American manager who led Columbus Crew to an MLS Cup and Leagues Cup titles, following Brendan Rodgers departure last month.

The club's former manager Martin O'Neill assisted by Shaun Maloney has overseen the past five games since Rodgers left, winning all four domestic fixtures. However, their side were defeated by Midtjylland in the Europa League.

Celtic is currently top of the Scottish Premiership but trail Heart of Midlothian who lead the defending champions by four points at the summit with a game in hand.

If Nancy becomes Celtic manager as anticipated, it will be his first European managerial role. He will begin work after a tumultuous season marked by protests from fans against the board and their recent win over St Mirren.

Nancy moved to Columbus Crew in 2022 following Thierry Henry's resignation and led them to back-to-back titles, winning MLS Coach of the Year last year before finishing seventh in conference play this time around.

The highly anticipated arrival comes as Celtic gear up for a crucial Europa League clash against Feyenoord on Thursday.

the thought of wilfried nancy taking over at celtic is actually really intriguing 🤔 i mean, he's got the resume to back it up - two leagues cup titles and an mls cup under his belt. plus, he's shown he can adapt to different environments with a stint in europe and a successful run in the mls. but, is celtic ready for that level of scrutiny? they're already dealing with fan unrest and now they'd be bringing in someone new from another league entirely? it's gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out 🤞

OMG, I'm hyped about Wilfried Nancy joining Celtic 🤩! He's got an insane track record with Columbus Crew and it'd be sick to see him bring that success to Parkhead 💪. The fact that he's never managed in Europe before makes this appointment even more intriguing - imagine how he'll adapt our team to the Champions League level 😮. With Celtic currently on top of the Scottish Premiership, but still trailing Hearts by 4 points... it's crazy to think that we might be facing a historic relegation battle ⚽️. Fingers crossed Nancy can whip us into shape and lead us back to glory 🏆!

I think it's cool that Celtic is considering Wilfried Nancy as their new manager 🤔! He seems like an experienced coach with some impressive wins under his belt, especially in the MLS Cup and Leagues Cup 🏆. If he takes over, I'd love to see how he'd handle the pressure of being a top European team like Celtic 👊. It's interesting that they're considering someone from MLS, though - it'll be exciting to see if Nancy can bring some new ideas to the Scottish Premiership 🌳! One thing that might give fans hope is that Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney have been doing okay in Rodgers' shoes 😐, so maybe this change isn't as drastic as we think... fingers crossed for a positive result against Feyenoord on Thursday ⚽️!

🤔 So I think Wilfried Nancy is gonna be a great pick for Celtic 🎉, especially considering their current form and the pressure they're under. I mean, 4 points behind at the top of the league with a game in hand? That's crazy 😅. But if anyone can turn it around, it's him. He's got experience leading big teams to titles in the US 🏆. The fact that he won all four domestic fixtures since Rodgers left is also super impressive 🙌. Now let's see how he handles the Europa League against Feyenoord... fingers crossed! 💪
